"Along Comes a Woman" is a song written by Peter Cetera and Mark Goldenberg for the group Chicago and recorded for their album Chicago 17 (1984), with Cetera singing lead vocals. The fourth single released from that album, and it is the last Chicago single released with original singer/bassist Cetera, who left the band in the summer of 1985.

Upon its release in 1985, Billboard magazine highlighted the single in its "Singles: Pop: Picks" section, as a "new release with the greatest chart potential," and called it a "hard rocker." At the end of the year, Billboard magazine music critic, Linda Moleski, listed the single among her top ten highlights of the year as, “An excellent funk-pop sound that’s reflective of 1985.”

The original album version was 4:14 in length. It was remixed to a more high-tech mid-80's sound for the single release which runs 3:47 in length.

The music video, shot in black and white, combined themes from the films, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Casablanca, and featured Peter Cetera, the lead vocalist on the song, in the Indiana Jones/Rick Blaine-type role. It was produced by Jon Small of Picture Vision, Inc., and was directed by Jay Dubin, who also directed the syndicated TV series, The Wombles, in the 1980s. The video was released in 1985, during what some call the "golden era" of MTV.

Chicago is an American rock band formed in and named after Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. The group initially formed as The Big Thing before calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968, finally shortening to the current name in 1969. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. They produced numerous top-40 hits over two decades, and continue to record and perform live.

"Look Away" is a 1988 power ballad by American rock band Chicago. Written by Diane Warren, produced by Ron Nevison, and with Bill Champlin on lead vocals, it is the second single from the band's album Chicago 19. "Look Away" is Chicago's largest selling single of all, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in December 1988, matching the chart success of the group's "If You Leave Me Now" (1976) and "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" (1982). "Look Away" is Chicago's seventh song to have peaked at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart as well as the No. 1 song on the 1989 year-end Billboard Hot 100 chart, even though it never held the No. 1 spot at all in 1989.

The song, unlike hits from early in Chicago's career, does not prominently feature horns. It is also the band's only No. 1 single following the 1985 departure of Peter Cetera.

According to drummer Danny Seraphine, Chicago's manager Howard Kaufman suggested that the band bring in outside songwriting help. Kaufman recommended Diane Warren, who also composed the band's single "I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love," and producer Ron Nevison, who had worked with Heart on the number one hits "These Dreams" and "Alone."

Warren wrote "Look Away" from the man's perspective and submitted a demo to Chicago's management company. "Diane's demos always sound really good," Nevison said. "Her demos are always very simple, but they always have great vocal performances." Bassist Jason Scheff remarked, "The songs that last for me are the ones I don't get at first," and added, "I remember hearing 'Look Away' and thinking it's okay, but not great. Thank God I'm not an A&R man."

Before being submitted to Chicago, the song was one of two ballads offered by Epic Records to Cheap Trick, who chose "The Flame" instead.

The song featured Bill Champlin on lead vocals and furthered Chicago's shift towards de-emphasizing the band's brass section compared to their earlier years. Scheff noted that with Peter Cetera having left the group and "making his own records, it was good for us to release some songs with a different sound (like) Bill's voice. Then we wouldn't be saturating radio with Chicago-sounding songs."

Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968 before shortening the name in 1969. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. They produced numerous top-40 hits over two decades, and continue to record and perform live.

Growing out of several Chicago-area bands in the late 1960s, the original line-up consisted of Peter Cetera on bass, Terry Kath on guitar, Robert Lamm on keyboards, Lee Loughnane on trumpet, James Pankow on trombone, Walter Parazaider on woodwinds, and Danny Seraphine on drums. Cetera, Kath, and Lamm shared lead vocal duties. Laudir de Oliveira joined the band as a percussionist and second drummer in 1973. Kath died in 1978, and was replaced by several guitarists in succession, the longest serving of which was Bill Champlin. Cetera left the band in 1985 and was replaced by Jason Scheff. Seraphine left in 1990, and was replaced by Tris Imboden. The band's lineup has been more fluid since 2000, but keyboardist Robert Lamm and the entire horn section of Loughnane, Pankow, and Parazaider have remained constant members.

To date, Chicago has sold over 40 million units in the U.S., with 23 gold, 18 platinum, and eight multi-platinum albums. They have had five consecutive number-one albums on the Billboard 200 and 20 top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1974 the group had seven albums, its entire catalog at the time, on the Billboard 200 simultaneously. The group has received ten Grammy Award nominations, winning one for the song, "If You Leave Me Now". The group's first album, Chicago Transit Authority, released in 1969, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014. Chicago was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. In 2017, Peter Cetera, Robert Lamm, and James Pankow were elected to the Songwriters Hall of Fame for their songwriting efforts as members of the music group. Chicago received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award on October 16, 2020.

Because Adam Toledo was shot and killed as he ditched a gun and turned quickly, mayor Lori Lightfoot is now wanting to enact making Chicago cops get permission before chasing a suspect on foot even if they witnessed them perpetrate a crime. This change in policy if enacted will be exploited by the criminals knowing full well the odds will be in their favor on not getting chased.

In this video we take a look at this clown world lunacy from mayor Beetlejuice of Chicago.

Police video of body cam shooting of Adam Toledo

Archive "CHICAGO – Reaction has been swift following the release of body cam footage that shows a 13-year-old boy with his hands raised less than a second before a Chicago police officer fatally shot him last month in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Video footage of the shooting, released Thursday by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, shows a CPD officer shooting Adam Toledo once in the chest around 2:30 a.m. on March 29 in the alley of the 2300 block of South Spaulding.

Adam was shot after he and another man, 21-year-old Ruben Roman, ran away from police. Officers initially responded to the area following a report of gunfire.

Adam Toledo’s family lawyer Adeena J. Weiss-Ortiz says the video “speaks for itself.”

“Adam, during his last wind of life, did not have a gun in his hands after the officer screamed at him, ‘show me your hands,'” she said. “Adam complied, turned around, his hands were empty when the officer shot him.” " continue reading... https://wgntv.com/news/chicago-news/chicago-reacts-to-bodycam-footage-of-adam-toledos-deadly-shooting-by-police/

CHICAGO - Beginnings
Recorded Live: 7/21/1970 - Tanglewood - Lenox, Massachusetts: U.S.A.

When MEN played their own instruments, and they and their managers/agents/labels/lawyers/hangers-on, and assorted shady characters fought it out for the MONEY; day by day.

Gig by gig.

These weren't soy-boys.

(This is a tune about how the emotions of early love could SOUND.
The lyrics are second. The music/sound is first.
The SOUND of music is what was talked about, back then . . . from the beginning of recorded history, up until egomaniacs took over our reality. Believe it or not, SOUND was the most important concept, with regard to music.

Now, it's moronic egos.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LYRICS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I'm with you
It doesn't matter where we are;
Or what we're doin':
I'm with you, that's all that matters

Time passes much too quickly
When we're together laughing;
I wish I could sing it to you, oh no
How I wish I could sing it to you

Woah oh woah woah woah woah
Woah oh woah woah woah woah . . .

Mostly, I'm silent
Silent
Even though I just hold your hand . . .

But, when I kiss you
I feel a thousand different feelings;
The color of chills
All over my body . . .

And when I feel them
I quickly try to decide
Which one I should try to
Put into words
Did you ever
Try to put it into words?!

Woah oh woah woah woah woah
Woah oh woah woah woah woah . . .

Mostly, I'm silent
Silent
(C'mon, man . . .)

Silent.

Only the beginning
Of what I want to feel forever

Only the beginning
Only the beginning.
It's only the beginning . . .
It's only the just the START . . .

. . .

AIRED JANUARY 13, 2003
Chicago: City of the Century

Film Description
On May 1, 1893, as 200,000 onlookers roared their approval, President Grover Cleveland stepped from his carriage to open Chicago's Columbian Exposition. Cleveland delivered a short speech, after which fountains sprayed jets of water 100 feet high, thousands of flags unfurled and warships sounded explosive salutes. Once the cacophony subsided, the fair to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Columbus' arrival in the New World was officially open. In the following months, some 27 million people visited the fair, and the exhibition focused the world's attention on the city. That summer marked Chicago's moment of greatest power, the time at which the world's first skyscraper city had reached the pinnacle of its ascendancy as a center of culture, commerce and industry.

City of the Century tells how in just 60 years Chicago grew from a remote, swampy frontier town into one of the most explosively alive cities in the world. It's the story of the wealthy and the indigent, the heralded and the forgotten, the shop assistants and the millionaire retail barons who together created Chicago. It describes how through innovation, ingenuity, determination and sheer ruthlessness, the captains of industry created empires in a marshy wasteland. And it explores the hardships endured by the millions of working men and women -- most of them immigrants from Ireland and Northern Europe -- whose labor helped a capitalist class reinvent the way America did business.

The film opens with the discovery of Chicago's site by a missionary and an explorer in 1673, and follows the city's unparalleled growth -- no other city had ever grown so fast -- from the construction of the railroads that turned Chicago into the hub of a nationwide railway network to the dramatic post-fire reconstruction that gave the city the most distinctive skyline in the world.

The engine that fueled Chicago's rapid rise and made it a center of economic activity was the desire of its citizens to make money. The drive and determination of Chicagoans prompted one British visitor to characterize the city as "the very embodiment of the world-conquering spirit of the age" and spurred other commentators to view Chicago as the quintessential American city. By the late 19th century Chicago was literally throbbing with commercial activity. It was the largest grain port in the world and the home of the meat packing industry. Marshall Field had helped turn downtown into one of the finest shopping centers in America and Aaron Montgomery Ward had made the city the nation's mail-order capital.

But even as City of the Century revels in Chicago's triumphs, it delves into the heart of Chicago's many painful struggles. Nowhere else in the world did tremendous wealth and devastating poverty exist so closely side by side. While the city boasted some of the era's most forward-thinking social reformers, it was renowned for its plundering capitalists and corrupt local officials. In 1871 it was the victim of one of the most devastating fires in history, an inferno that killed 300 people and made 100,000 others homeless. In 1886, it was the site of the Haymarket incident, the tragic terrorist act that unleashed the first redhunt in American history.

Produced and directed by veteran filmmaker Austin Hoyt (MacArthur, Reagan), City of the Century captures the rawness and energy, the optimism and heartbreak that makes the rise of Chicago a story of epic proportions.

Man killed in Englewood shooting

After decades of being the Illinois Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), the longest serving House speaker in the country, failed to receive enough votes to get re-elected. Taking his spot is Emanuel "Chris" Welch (D-Hillside), whom Madigan eventually voted for. Madigan faced mounting opposition, even within his own party, after federal prosecutors fined electric utility company ComEd $200 million last year for a scheme including bribes in the form of no-show jobs and contracts to associates of “Public Official A,” who is widely understood to be Madigan.

"Stay the Night" is a song written by Peter Cetera and David Foster for the group Chicago and recorded for their album Chicago 17 (1984), with Cetera singing the lead vocals. Upbeat and rock-oriented, it was the first single released from that album, and reached number 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song features noted session drummer Jeff Porcaro taking the place of Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine.

This song is also remembered for its music video, filmed in and around the Los Angeles River.[3] It shows Peter Cetera chasing a hard-to-get lady, played by Ingrid Anderson with Debbie Evans as stunt double, and features car-chases, notably featuring a red convertible Oldsmobile 442. It may be that Cetera performed some of his own stunts, but in a 1985 interview, bandmate Robert Lamm said a stuntman was used. It was directed by Bob Giraldi and Gilbert Bettman, Jr.

Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968 before shortening the name in 1969. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. They began writing songs with politically charged lyrics, and later moved to a softer sound, generating several hit ballads. The group had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In September 2008, Billboard ranked Chicago at number thirteen in a list of the top 100 artists of all time for Hot 100 singles chart success, and ranked them at number fifteen on the same list produced in October 2015. Billboard also ranked Chicago ninth on the list of the 100 greatest artists of all time in terms of Billboard 200 album chart success in October 2015. Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups, and one of the world's best-selling groups of all time, having sold more than 100 million records. In 1971, Chicago was the first rock act to sell out Carnegie Hall for a week.

To date, Chicago has sold over 40 million units in the U.S., with 23 gold, 18 platinum, and eight multi-platinum albums. They have had five consecutive number-one albums on the Billboard 200[11] and 20 top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
