This is a larger, alternate version of "You're Invited." I wanted to try that piece again with more detail and added a walled road this time. It was a bit tricky at first. I had to redo the lighting and texture several times before being satisfied with it. The sun burst was the most enjoyable part and I had fun creating the light, fluffy snow texture on the trees. Sara named this piece "Through the Woods" since she said it reminds her of an old song.

Christmas is so much fun for our kitties! They love to play 'hockey' with candy canes and 'help' us wrap presents!
Dr. Haynes is a bewhiskered clergyman itching to take over from Archdeacon Pulteney, the elderly incumbent of Barchester Cathedral in rural England. There is a problem, though: Haynes is an ambitious young fellow, and Pulteney isn’t outgoing quite quickly enough for his liking. Tiring of the nonagenarian’s longevity, Haynes decides to engineer a nasty stairway accident in order to instigate the aged man’s swift passage to the other side. Soon afterwards, the spectre of a black cat appears, bringing with it into Dr. Haynes’s living quarters all manner of disembodied voices and laughter, inexplicable nocturnal thumping and movement, and a hooded figure that shadows him during his daily business.

Taylor sneered. "Supply and demand. Urim and Thummim. Show me a supply, Thornberry, show me a—oh, hell. I haven't time to waste re-educating you. Remember what I told you and don't argue. Unlimited credit to Syndic members. If they overdo it, we'll rectify the situation. Now, get out." And Thornberry did, with senile tears in his eyes.

The image that inspired this painting was actually just a snowy forest path at sunset. I wanted to add a bit more interest and thought about how winter and Christmas are slowly drawing nearer. It made me remember coming home to a warm fireplace after being out in the cold for far too long. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture in this piece.

I watched this movie over the holidays and I really liked it. Virtually free from the communist jewish agenda, not 100% but pretty close. It's a fantastic story and I really enjoyed it.
It's based on the book by Max Lucado, a famous Christian author. So that's partly why it is virtually free from agenda. Even so, it doesn't feel like a low-budget film at all, the acting is fantastic and so is the story. It probably had a decent budget because Max Lucado was able to fund it since he's a bestselling author.
The movie has some faith-based themes, but it's really not like one of those bible movies, which I also like, it's more of a fiction novel with Christian undertones. I liked that it had a lot of depth, and was not at all shallow or superficial.
My rating: PG for feminist themes (often portrays men as evil, aloof, deviant, pathetic, and weak; empowered women) and esoteric undertones (angelic enchantment & enchanted objects, which is paganism). Otherwise, rather clean. Pretty good for a movie made in this century. Would be unacceptable in a purer society, but there's not much to choose from in this one.
