The Northman is a cinematic depiction of Viking society in the late ninth century. Now, because Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education have put out over 6000 pages documenting why the DOE rejected the school textbooks that it did, the media is in full on damage control mode. With the cat is out of the bag, there is no way for them to make their baseless allegations against Republicans of their just banning books for no reason, or that the textbooks are an innocent casualty of the culture war. There is no way for them to hide the fact that they are being used to indoctrinate children into the Left’s Cultural Marxist la la land bullshit. Tanya Fredrich, the assistant superintendent of Milwaukee-area Elmbrook Schools, rejected a claim last year from a white student's parents that their child had faced discrimination on account of his race. In this fourth lecture of the series, James Lindsay discusses the practical application of critical race theory. Lindsay breaks down what CRT does: makes more critical race theorists (and nothing else). He also elaborates on how CRT does it, which is through the complicated idea called "praxis" and through a significant number of linguistic, social, and psychological distortions and extortions. If you are facing CRT in your life, this is a must-watch lecture on its operating principles.

In this third lecture on critical race theory, James Lindsay goes into what he calls its “deep ideological roots,” the Communist theory of Karl Marx. Marx’s mid-19th century ideas were based on other ideas, however, including those of the German idealist G.W.F. Hegel and the French romantic Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Lindsay makes clear the relevance of these social theorists and philosophers to the CRT that plagues the world today. He also makes important connections through the intellectual godfather of CRT, the black scholar W.E.B. Du Bois. Thus, CRT is both race Marxism and a racial manifestation of the broader “dialectical faith of Leftism.”
This is the second of James Lindsay's lectures on critical race theory where Lindsay takes us into its "proximate ideological roots." These twentieth-century ideological antecedents to CRT include the critical legal studies movement in law, the New Left and its radical activism (as it went first into the streets and then into the classroom), neo-Marxism (also known as critical Marxism or critical theory), cultural Marxism, and postmodern theory. You'll learn here that CRT did not arise out of nowhere but came from Marxists who needed to answer why their theory had failed in so many disastrous ways and how they might get to their glorious revolution by other means. Critical race theory turns out to be one of those means. Lindsay makes it clear where these lines of thought came from and how they separated and then recombined to give us the identity Marxist and woke Marxist theories we see today.

Critical Race Theory has been growing for over 40 years, causing deeper issues.
We want a better world for our children. The nutjobs pushing CRT are making things worse for all races!
~believes racism is present in every aspect of life, every relationship, and every interaction and therefore has its advocates look for it everywhere
~relies upon “interest convergence” (white people only give black people opportunities and freedoms when it is also in their own interests) and therefore doesn’t trust any attempt to make racism better
~is against free societies and wants to dismantle them and replace them with something its advocates control
~only treats race issues as “socially constructed groups,” so there are no individuals in Critical Race Theory
~believes science, reason, and evidence are a “white” way of knowing and that storytelling and lived experience are a “black” alternative, which hurts everyone, especially black people
~rejects all potential alternatives, like colorblindness, as forms of racism, making itself the only allowable game in town (which is totalitarian)
~acts like anyone who disagrees with it must do so for racist and white supremacist reasons, even if those people are black (which is also totalitarian)
~cannot be satisfied, so it becomes a kind of activist black hole that threatens to destroy everything it is introduced into
