Let's Do the Time Warp (Cover) Again

It's pride month! And every year I try to something to celebrate, usually focusing on characters from my web comic Dark Horse; or discussing/participating in other types of pride month art events. It's been 3 years since I've talked about Xue Feng, so I decided I wanted to talk more about her personality, likes, background.

So Happy Pride Month! I hope when she's finally introduced into the story proper, I do her character justice.

SPOILER WARNING! I talk about a character who's not been introduced yet. If you're reading Dark Horse and don't want any hints/spoilers of future characters, this one may not be for you (I mean, I am bad at this and talk about characters all the time that aren't in the comic yet...I'm trying to be better about that).

We're positively critiquing the cover art for Dark Horse, Time Warp and redoing elements I feel need fixed! In this video, I'm sharing some of my first printed images of Dark Horse (and it's bad, those who have seen it know), but reflecting on it in a positive light. Hey! Some of you may remember back in 2019, when I first colored this page for Dark Horse. I've finally reached this image in the revamp, and I thought it'd be fun to do a compare and contrast. One thing that I find valuable is something I've learned from my art courses: it's GOOD to look at your own art critically, and evaluate what you did well, and what you can improve. So this retrospective is just talking about the good and the bad of the old image, and demonstrating some ways I *feel* I improved upon the page.

And of course this is all subjective, and my opinion may change three more years down the road, but hey! We have to meet ourselves where we are, be critical, but also supportive of ourselves :)

If you can't take your own critiques, then you're not going to handle the real world very well XD XD Although, it's true we are also generally speaking our own worst critics XD
