The Dollar might seem to be fairly strong at present, but don’t be fooled into thinking the Dollar is all that great – I can assure you that it isn’t.
For me, a good way to view the situation with regard to the Dollar and other major currencies of the world is to see the Dollar as being the best apple in a basket of rotten apples.
They are all well past their best and are in the process of rotting. They will all, at some point, be so spoilt as to become unfit for human consumption.
Analogies are rarely perfect, but I hope that you the idea.
Other commentators use other metaphors … so be it.
Permit me to explain what I mean …
The first thing we need to do is to make a distinction between “relative values” and “real values”.
If any of you listening follow Gregory Mannarino of Trader’s Choice on YouTube … you will know that he often makes a distinction between the Comparative strength and Absolute strength of the Dollar. I’m just using slightly different terms to him. But essentially, we’re speaking about the same thing.
Anyway, let’s look at “relative values” first.
If we’re interested in assessing “relative values”, then we can compare one currency with another currency.
So, for instance, if we are interested in knowing the strength of the Dollar, we would compare it to another currency such as the Euro, or the British Pound Sterling, or the Japanese Yen. This is common practice. All the major currencies of the world are usually paired together.
Forgive me if any of this is entirely evident to you already. My intention is not to be patronising – just to state things as clearly and simply as possible.
Such pairings become especially important if you want to transfer large sums of currency between countries, say between the US and Britain, or Britain and a country in Europe. Small changes in the exchange rate can make a big difference to how much currency that ends up in final settlement. Wire transfers can be done in a bank, or by using companies such as Western Union. Rates differ between companies and commission fees vary.
Also, as all of you listening are no doubt already aware, when you’ve travelling abroad, you’re likely to need to change currency and there are the Foreign Exchange “bureau de change” booths like Travelex. These transactions are usually carried out as over-the-counter cash transactions.
The value of currencies are constantly changing in relation to each other. This is the basis of the Foreign Exchange market – the global marketplace for exchanging national currencies. It goes by other names … the FOREX, or FX, or Currency market.

The USA has just been downgraded by the ratings agency Moodys. It’s gone from “stable” to “negative”
Last time, back in August, it was the ratings agency Fitch which downgraded USA Corp.
As I said in the video I did in August, this is not at all surprising to me. The only thing surprising about it is that it hasn’t happened sooner.
I say the same things because, as far as I’m concerned, nothing much has changed. The fundamentals are the same.
I made four videos about this topic in October last year in entitled “Bonds, Yields, Inflation and Hyperinflation” and even then I could have spoken about such things many years before without any fear of being mistaken.
But anyway …
As a result of this Moody’s downgrade, the price of US Bonds will go down and the yields will start to rise.
Bond pricing is a complicated business and the intricacies need not be of any real concern to us. All we need to know is that when Bonds get sold on a large scale, there’s a drop in demand and prices fall.
Also, Bond prices and yields are inversely correlated. To put this another way, there’s an inverse relationship between prices and yields.
For those of you who are more visually orientated, you might want to think in terms of a see-saw. So when the prices for Bonds go down, the yields go up and visa versa, when Bonds prices are high yields are low.
An important thing to consider is that Bonds are basically Government debt and they also represent the “credibility” and “creditworthiness” of a Government.
If they haven’t done so already, investors will finally call into question the credibility and creditworthiness of the States and this means that they will no longer be so interested in buying US Bonds and there will be a mass sell off because investors will want to divest themselves of their holdings. The sell off will lower demand and therefore prices.
China and other countries have been off-loading their US Bond holdings for a while now. The sell off will continue and accelerate as it gathers momentum. Pay special attention to the 10 year yield.
Meanwhile the FED have been trying to keep the yields down by buying bonds.
This is known as Yield Curve Control or YCC.
The Japanese Central Bank, the Bank of Japan, has been doing this for some time.
Back to the FED. It’s a Battle Royale. Yields keep on rising and so, the FED keeps on trying to get them down.
Recently the 10 year yield went up to 5% and then the FED intervened and got it back down to 4.5%.
But unlike what happens in Japan, in the US it’s being done in secret. It’s not been announced publicly.
I should also say that it’s a battle that they will lose because market forces are far stronger than the FED.
By the way, while the Bank of Japan has been successful up until relatively recently in controlling their yields, but the success has come at the expense of their currency, the Yen. It’s on a downward trajectory. Look at a Gold to Yen price chart.

The USA will not just come to look a lot like Argentina, but will surpass them in terms of credibility and creditworthiness or rather lack thereof.
The American Empire and the US Dollar, the Federal Reserve note, is on a downward trajectory.
Sometime fairly soon we’re going to the US fall in a spectacular fashion.

There might be a third group – those people who own decentralised Cryptocurrencies. But I’m not an expert on such things and so, all I’ll say is, only time will tell whether these Cryptocurrencies have any true value.
This “Great Separation” will happen when the crisis we’re now in finally manifests itself and becomes evident to all – not just a select few Economic commentators, their followers and a number of other clued-up people.
I should also say that when this happens, the difference between Money and Currency will become apparent - all too apparent. People will be forced to see the difference between the crap currencies they previously valued so much and real money, Gold and Silver. They will understand what “store of value” truly means. Signs are always there to be read. As with the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004, people did not read the signs properly. Prior to the Tsunami hitting, the water receded greatly. This was a huge sign. But some people did not understand what it meant. They just looked on and did nothing. Some of them died as a result their lack of understanding and their inaction.
The signs are there to be read now in the financial sector, in the markets and in the wider economy. The way I see it, all sorts of indicators have been flashing red for a while.
Back in 2004 there wasn’t a Tsunami early warning signal, alerting people of the danger. Let this video and others, some commentators have produced, serve as a final warning signal.
I should also say that in the Boxing Day of Tsunami of 2004, the wave took time to travel from the epicentre, where the earthquake occurred in Indonesia, to say the Thai coast. Time is running out. The wave is now on the horizon and it’s fast approaching land.
When it hits full force, it’s going to be cataclysmic. The Financial system as we know it today will collapse along with a whole host of other stuff.
I don’t know exactly when that will be and I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, but I know that it’s going to be devastating.

I don’t pay too much attention to the price of Gold because the Precious Metals Markets are entirely manipulated, so the price of Gold in Dollar terms, or in any currency, is not a true reflection of the real market value of Gold or Silver.
Be that as it may, I thought it was worthwhile doing a video about the recent turn of events … namely Gold going above $2000 per ounce.
It’s gone over $2000 per ounce twice before in the last few years … in 2020 and in April of this year, but went back down again soon after.
Maybe $2000 per ounce is considered as being some kind of significant marker, but for me, it matters only in so far as it’s an indicator of the degradation of the Dollar rather than anything else.
The Dollar, as we know it today, is moribund. It’s dying and it’s demise is being reflected in the price of Gold.
To my way of thinking, a good way of assessing the state of any currency is to compare that currency to Gold.
Indeed, Gold is, as far as I’m concerned, by far the best measure that can be used for valuing a currency.
I should say that in Economics, relativity is an important concept.
When it comes to value, everything is relative. So, the value of something is regarded in relation to something else.
With all this in mind, the value of currencies can be directly compared to the value of precious metals like Gold and Silver.
Goldprice.org has a chart which goes back to about 1973. If you look at this chart, you will see that the price of Gold in Dollar terms has risen over the years. In the last 20 years, it’s risen over 400%.
The line has been rising from left to right.
However, I would like to suggest that you look at the chart a different way.
Flip the chart over on its horizontal axis – so along the “X axis” with the dates.
The line is then declining. You can ignore the Dollar values on the vertical “Y axis”. They’re not really relevant.
What’s the point of doing this?
If you’ve flipped the chart, then this will show not the price of Gold in Dollar terms, but the value of the Dollar as it relates to Gold.
Looking at it in this way will show you how much the Dollar has declined in value as compared to Gold since after the Nixon Shock in 1971. In fact, as Alisdair McLeod said in an interview on the YouTube Channel “Liberty and Finance”, “the Dollar has lost something like 98% of it’s value measured in Gold since 1971”.
So, seeing the price of Gold rising tells me that the Dollar is losing Purchasing Power. Purchasing Power is the ability of a currency to pay for goods and services.
When the “Purchasing Power” of a currency decreases, then prices increase.
This stands to reason because, if the currency has lost some of its Purchasing Power, it’s weaker and it therefore takes more of that currency to purchase a product, in this instance Gold. Another way to say this is more of that currency is required to purchase a product as compared to what it did before because the currency is not as strong as it was.

The U.S. Federal Reserve is seriously exploring the adoption of a central bank digital dollar known as a CBDC. Many are concerned if they could centralize American's financial information and holdings in a digital database controlled by the U.S. government. Then they would have complete discretion over how and whether people can use their own money. The BRICS nations summit was held for two days, late this month.
This was the 15th Summit to be held.
There is probably much to be said about this, but for me, there is one thing that stands out from all the other things that went on.
It was announced that 5 new members were to be admitted to the BRICS bloc.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran, the UAE, Egypt and Argentina.
They will become full members at the beginning of 2024.
They will be the “new kids on the block” … sorry, I couldn’t resist that. And I’m sure that I’m not the only commentator to have said that … whatever.
Adding new countries will undoubtedly add weight to the Bloc.
If we are to imagine a set of scales and balance of power in the world … the balance has just tipped in my opinion.
One important thing to say … it’s not just about the fact that other countries are joining to tip the balance. Who is joining is important. For me the most important new members are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran and UAE.
Why have I focused on these rather than Egypt and Argentina? … The simple answer is oil.
Although Egypt controls the Suez canal, the others are all oil producing nations. As for Argentina, maybe there are some massive silver deposits in Argentina as yet to be brought to the surface – the name of the country is derived from silver after all.
Anyway …
In March 2022, I did a video entitled “The Petro-Dollar System is in big trouble – KSA might deliver a massive blow”
Well, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has finally delivered that blow.
So the date of this Summit’s announcement should go down in history as the date when the Petro-Dollar System died.
Much of what I say will be a repeat of that video I made because for me what I said back then still holds true today.
So … to quote verbatim from that video …
In 1973 Henry Kissinger went over to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and did a deal with the King – basically getting KSA (and other OPEC member countries) to use Dollars for their oil trades. This was called the Petro-Dollar System. The system is more complicated than that – it had more aspects to it - but this all that we need to know for the purposes of this video.
The US set up the Petro-Dollar System as a way of off-setting the effects of the ending of the Gold Standard which happened in 1971 with the Nixon Shock. In a way, the Petro-Dollar System could be regarded as a replacement of sorts for the Gold Standard. The Petro-Dollar System could then be called the Oil Standard.
Oil is the energy that powers so much of our modern world. Indeed, oil is the very lifeblood of the world Economy. Without oil, the whole system would grind to a halt. Oil is therefore a very valuable commodity. This is one of the reasons why oil is referred to as “Black Gold”.

The BRICS nations summit was held for two days, late this month.
This was the 15th Summit to be held.
There is probably much to be said about this, but for me, there is one thing that stands out from all the other things that went on.
It was announced that 5 new members were to be admitted to the BRICS bloc.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran, the UAE, Egypt and Argentina.
They will become full members at the beginning of 2024.
They will be the “new kids on the block” … sorry, I couldn’t resist that. And I’m sure that I’m not the only commentator to have said that … whatever.
Adding new countries will undoubtedly add weight to the Bloc.
If we are to imagine a set of scales and balance of power in the world … the balance has just tipped in my opinion.
One important thing to say … it’s not just about the fact that other countries are joining to tip the balance. Who is joining is important. For me the most important new members are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran and UAE.
Why have I focused on these rather than Egypt and Argentina? … The simple answer is oil.
Although Egypt controls the Suez canal, the others are all oil producing nations. As for Argentina, maybe there are some massive silver deposits in Argentina as yet to be brought to the surface – the name of the country is derived from silver after all.

Well, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has finally delivered that blow.
So the date of this Summit’s announcement should go down in history as the date when the Petro-Dollar System died.
Much of what I say will be a repeat of that video I made because for me what I said back then still holds true today.

In 1973 Henry Kissinger went over to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and did a deal with the King – basically getting KSA (and other OPEC member countries) to use Dollars for their oil trades. This was called the Petro-Dollar System. The system is more complicated than that – it had more aspects to it - but this all that we need to know for the purposes of this video.
The US set up the Petro-Dollar System as a way of off-setting the effects of the ending of the Gold Standard which happened in 1971 with the Nixon Shock. In a way, the Petro-Dollar System could be regarded as a replacement of sorts for the Gold Standard. The Petro-Dollar System could then be called the Oil Standard.
