✠ Eoin O'Duffy (born Owen Duffy, 28 January 1890 – 30 November 1944) was a fascist Irish nationalist politician, military commander and police commissioner. He was the leader of the Monaghan Brigade of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and a prominent figure in the Ulster IRA during the Irish War of Independence. In this capacity he became Chief of Staff of the IRA in 1922. He accepted the Anglo-Irish Treaty and served as a general in the National Army in the Irish Civil War, on the pro-Treaty side.

O'Duffy became the second Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, the police force of the new Irish Free State, after the Civic Guard Mutiny and the subsequent resignation of Michael Staines. He had been an early member of Sinn Féin. He was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for Monaghan, his home county, during the 1921 election. After a split in Sinn Féin in 1923, he became associated with Cumann na nGaedheal and led the movement known as the Blueshirts. After the merger of various pro-Treaty factions under the banner of Fine Gael, O'Duffy was the party leader for a short time, before leaving the party in 1934.

O'Duffy was attracted to the various fascist movements on the continent. He raised the Irish Brigade to fight for Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War as an act of Catholic solidarity and was inspired by Benito Mussolini's Italy to found the National Corporate Party. During the Second World War, he offered to Nazi Germany the prospect of raising an Irish Brigade to fight against the Soviet Union on the Eastern Front, but this was not taken up. ✠

Lyrics:

Proudly the Blue flag above us is waving,
out with old slaveish and cowardly fears,
see where our leader strides boldly before us
loyal to all in the trust that he bears,

Steadfast and calm and brave
he will old Ireland save
rush to his banner all good men and true
now we resound the call
there will be room for all
who stand by our country
O’Duffy Abu!

Stern is the fight that we now do engage in
both justice and truth will our motto were be
Erin now helpless nigh bankrupt and broken
we must rise up to be prosperous and free

Up with Saint Patrick’s flag!
never let our courage lag
remember O’Reilly and Lynch men in blue
think of the lives they gave
for our dear land to save
For God and for Ireland
O’Duffy Abu!

✠ The Chetniks formally the Chetnik Detachments of the Yugoslav Army, and also the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland and the Ravna Gora Movement, was a Yugoslav royalist and Serbian nationalist movement and guerrilla force in Axis-occupied Yugoslavia. Although it was not a homogeneous movement, it was led by Draža Mihailović. While it was anti-Axis in its long-term goals and engaged in marginal resistance activities for limited periods, it also engaged in tactical or selective collaboration with the occupying forces for almost all of the war. The Chetnik movement adopted a policy of collaboration with regard to the Axis, and engaged in cooperation to one degree or another by establishing modus vivendi or operating as "legalised" auxiliary forces under Axis control. Over a period of time, and in different parts of the country, the movement was progressively drawn into collaboration agreements: first with the puppet Government of National Salvation in the German-occupied territory of Serbia, then with the Italians in occupied Dalmatia and Montenegro, with some of the Ustaše forces in northern Bosnia, and, after the Italian capitulation in September 1943, with the Germans directly. ✠

Lyrics:

English:

Serbian horn sounded to me,
from that village of Drenovo!

Get ready, get ready Chetniks,
there’s hard battle ahead!

Voivode of Draža thundered,
throw bombs, Chetniks!

From this our victory,
the Sun of freedom is born!

✠ "Тих бял Дунав се вълнува" ("Still White Danube Undulates") also known as the Botev March, is a popular Bulgarian patriotic song. The lyrics are based on that of a poem by Ivan Vazov titled Radetzky after the steamship seized by the rebels. The storyline recounts a historically accurate incident from the Bulgarian struggles against Ottoman rule, which has earned the status of modern myth for Bulgarians, to some degree due to this song. On 29 May 1876 Bulgarian revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev at the head of 205-strong company of rebels seized control of the Austro-Hungarian passenger steamship Radetzky by armed force and used it to cross the Danube from Romania to the Bulgarian territories of the Ottoman Empire in order to join the April Uprising. Dagobert Engländer, Captain of the Radetzky, later recounted that "he had rarely met a man so impressive or energetic as Botev". The melody was composed by vocalist Ivan Karadzhov, according to his biography. In some performances of the song, the fourth verse is omitted. ✠

Lyrics:

English:

Tranquil, white Danube trembles,
jolly drubbing,
And Radetzky proudly sails,
Upon resplendent waves.

Withal glittering Kozloduy shore
A horn apprises the Steamer,
A flag is thus unfurled.

Dear, young Bulgarian Heroes
Emerge thither thy,
On their foreheads lion marks,
and in their eyes ardour.

Proudly there erect before them,
Their leader young,
And thus spoke he to the captain
Holding knife bare.

‘I am a Bulgarian voivod,
And these are all my men.
We fight now for liberation,
blood to spill today.

We are fighting for Bulgaria,
Proudly devote our succour,
And from tyranny oppressive
extricate her today.

✠ The Iron Guard or the Legionnaire Movement. Its ideology was ultra-nationalistic, antisemitic, and opposed to both communism and capitalism; it also promoted its own radicalized version of Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
In March 1930, Codreanu formed the Iron Guard as a paramilitary branch of the Legion, which in 1935 changed its official name to the "Totul pentru Țară" party—literally, Everything For the Country Party. It existed into the early part of the Second World War, during which time it came to power. Members were called Legionnaires or Greenshirts because of the predominantly green uniforms they wore.

When Marshal Ion Antonescu came to power in September 1940, he brought the Iron Guard into the government, creating the National Legionary State. In January 1941, following the Legionnaires' rebellion, Antonescu used the army to suppress the movement, destroying the organization; its commander, Horia Sima, along with other leaders, escaped to Germany. ✠

Lyrics:

Sfânta tinerețe legionară,
Holy young legionary,

Cu piept călit de fier
With his chest like iron

și sufletul de crin
and his soul like lilies

Iureș ne-nfrânat de primăvară,
Unbridled, he rushes in the spring,

Cu fruntea ca un iezer carpatin,
His face calm as a Carpathian river,

Cu brațele suim în soare,
With his arms stretched to the sun,

Catapetesme pentru veac
Like an eternal Iconostatis

Le zidim din stânci,
We have built it with stones,

din foc, din mare,
With fire, with the sea,

Si dârz le tencuim cu sânge dac!
And bravely we have daubed it with Dacian blood!

Garda, Căpitanul,
The guard, the capitain,

Ne preschimbă-n șoimi de fier
Have transformed us in iron hawks

Țara, Căpitanul,
The Motherland, the Captain,

Și Arhanghelul din cer
And the Archangel in Heaven(edited)
[9:44 AM]
Moartea, numai moartea legionară,
Death, the legionary death,

It's the most costful of all weddings,

Pentru sfânta cruce,
For the Holy Cross,

pentru țară,
And for the Motherland

Înfrângem codrii
We shall defeat the forests

și supunem munți;
And make the mountains bow down

Nu-i temniță să ne-nspăimânte,
There's no prison which can scare us,

Nici chin, nici viforul dușman;
No pain, no enemy attack

De cădem cu toți, izbiți în frunte,
And if we all fall, shot in the head,

Ni-i dragă moartea pentru Căpitan!
We will accept death, for the captain!

Sfânta tinerețe legionară,
Holy young legionary,

Suim biserici, stăm viteji în închisori
We build churches and in prisons we stay brave

În prigoana orișicât de-amară,
And in the persecutions, even the most bitter ones,

Cântăm si ne gândim la Nicadori,
Sing and remember of the Nicadori,

Purtăm în crivăț și în soare,
We carry under blizzards, and under sunny skies,

Lumini pentru biruitori,
Lights for the victorious ones,

Pentru cei viteji zidim altare,
For the brave ones, we build altars,

Și-avem doar gloanțe pentru trădători!
And for the traitors we have only bullets!

✠ A German army equipped, organized, and trained following a single doctrine and permanently unified under one command in 1871 during the unification of Germany under the leadership of Prussia. From 1871 to 1919, the title Deutsches Heer (German Army) was the official name of the German land forces. Following the German defeat in World War I and the end of the German Empire, the main army was dissolved. From 1921 to 1935 the name of the German land forces was the Reichsheer (Army of the Empire) and from 1935 to 1945 the name Heer was used. The Heer was one of two ground forces of the Third Reich during World War II but, unlike the Heer, the Waffen-SS was not a branch of the Wehrmacht but was a combat force under the Nazi Party's own Schutzstaffel forces. The Heer was formally disbanded in August 1946. ✠

✠ The Arrow Cross Party was a far-right Hungarian-nationalist party led by Ferenc Szálasi, which formed a government in Hungary they named the Government of National Unity. They were in power from 15 October 1944 to 28 March 1945. During its short rule, ten to fifteen thousand civilians were murdered outright, including many Jews and Romani, and 80,000 people were deported from Hungary to concentration camps in Austria. After the war, Szálasi and other Arrow Cross leaders were tried as war criminals by Hungarian courts. ✠

Lyrics:

Ébredj, magyar! Az ősi föld veszélyben!
Elvész a fajtánk, hogyha nem merünk!
Vélünk az Isten száz csatán keresztül,
Nem veszhetünk el, csak mi győzhetünk!
Rabokká váltunk ősapáink földjén
de már a hajnal jön, hasadni kezd!
Ha összefog most, magyar a magyarral,
Győzelemre visz majd a nyilaskereszt,
Szálasi Ferenc!

Our race will perish if we don't show bravery!

Victory will come by the Arrow Cross

✠ La Marseillaise is the national anthem of France. The song was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg after the declaration of war by France against Austria, and was originally titled "Chant de guerre pour l'Armée du Rhin" ("War Song for the Army of the Rhine").

The French National Convention adopted it as the Republic's anthem in 1795. The song acquired its nickname after being sung in Paris by volunteers from Marseille marching to the capital. The song is the first example of the "European march" anthemic style. The anthem's evocative melody and lyrics have led to its widespread use as a song of revolution and its incorporation into many pieces of classical and popular music. ✠

✠ "In taberna quando sumus" is a medieval Latin Goliardic poem, part of the collection known as the Carmina Burana, written between the 12th and early 13th centuries. It was set to music in 1935/36 by German composer Carl Orff as part of his Carmina Burana which premiered at Frankfurt Opera on 8 June 1937. Within Orff's Carmina Burana, this drinking song is the 14th movement in section 2, In Taberna. ✠

Lyrics:

In taberna quando sumus,
non curamus quid sit humus,
sed ad ludum properamus,
cui semper insudamus.
Quid agatur in taberna
ubi nummus est pincerna,
hoc est opus ut queratur,
si quid loquar, audiatur.

Quidam ludunt, quidam bibunt,
quidam indiscrete vivunt.
Sed in ludo qui morantur,
ex his quidam denudantur
quidam ibi vestiuntur,
quidam saccis induuntur.
Ibi nullus timet mortem
sed pro Baccho mittunt sortem:

Primo pro nummata vini,
ex hac bibunt libertini;
semel bibunt pro captivis,
post hec bibunt ter pro vivis,
quater pro Christianis cunctis
quinquies pro fidelibus defunctis,
sexies pro sororibus vanis,
septies pro militibus silvanis.

Octies pro fratribus perversis,
nonies pro monachis dispersis,
decies pro navigantibus
undecies pro discordantibus,
duodecies pro penitentibus,
tredecies pro iter agentibus.
Tam pro papa quam pro rege
bibunt omnes sine lege.

Bibit hera, bibit herus,
bibit miles, bibit clerus,
bibit ille, bibit illa,
bibit servus cum ancilla,
bibit velox, bibit piger,
bibit albus, bibit niger,
bibit constans, bibit vagus,
bibit rudis, bibit magus.

Bibit pauper et egrotus,
bibit exul et ignotus,
bibit puer, bibit canus,
bibit presul et decanus,
bibit soror, bibit frater,
bibit anus, bibit mater,
bibit ista, bibit ille,
bibunt centum, bibunt mille.

Parum sexcente nummate
durant, cum immoderate
bibunt omnes sine meta.
Quamvis bibant mente leta,
sic nos rodunt omnes gentes
et sic erimus egentes.
Qui nos rodunt confundantur
et cum iustis non scribantur.

English:

When we are in the tavern,
we do not think how we will go to dust,
but we hurry to gamble,
which always makes us sweat.
What happens in the tavern,
where money is host,
you may well ask,
and hear what I say.

Some gamble, some drink,
some behave loosely.
But of those who gamble,
some are stripped bare,
some win their clothes here,
some are dressed in sacks.
Here no-one fears death,
but they throw the dice in the name of Bacchus.

First of all it is to the wine-merchant
the libertines drink,
one for the prisoners,
three for the living,
four for all Christians,
five for the faithful dead,
six for the loose sisters,
seven for the footpads in the wood,

Eight for the errant brethren,
nine for the dispersed monks,
ten for the seamen,
eleven for the squabblers,
twelve for the penitent,
thirteen for the wayfarers.
To the Pope as to the king
they all drink without restraint.

The mistress drinks, the master drinks,
the soldier drinks, the priest drinks,
the man drinks, the woman drinks,
the servant drinks with the maid,
the swift man drinks, the lazy man drinks,
the white man drinks, the black man drinks,
the settled man drinks, the wanderer drinks,
the stupid man drinks, the wise man drinks,

The poor man drinks, the sick man drinks,
the exile drinks, and the stranger,
the boy drinks, the old man drinks,
the bishop drinks, and the deacon,
the sister drinks, the brother drinks,
the old lady drinks, the mother drinks,
that woman drinks, that man drinks,
a hundred drink, a thousand drink.

Six hundred pennies would hardly
suffice, if everyone
drinks immoderately and immeasurably.
However much they cheerfully drink
we are the ones whom everyone scolds,
and thus we are destitute.
May those who slander us be cursed
and may their names not be written in the book of the righteous.

✠ The old people of Korça remember well the day of the founding of the "Lira" Choir, just like the day the flag was raised. Kori Lira, this name so old contains in itself the treasure of the songs of the city becoming the only symbol of the civic song of Korça. The choir "Lira" was formed around the years 1917 - 1922 as a continuation of instrumental-choral formations and groups of that time "Djelmeria Korçare", "Army Choir". The press of the time says that the first concert of this choral group was given together with the band "Vatra" in the city gym on October 22, 1922, a date which was called by the people of Korça as the day of the founding of this group. After 1928, this group was led by a young music professor who had completed his higher studies at the Bucharest Conservatory, Mr. Sotir Kozmo. He worked as a professional to increase the quality of the group but he also has the merit because he set up the first choral group with girls in the city of Korça. The main merit in this development was the youth of Korça, as well as those who wrote the lyrics and composed music for them such as: Mihal Grameno, Thoma Nasi, Spiridon Ilo, Koli Rodhe, Mihal Ballkameni and many others who have remained anonymous. During these 83 years of its existence, the group has existed more than 200 patriotic, lyrical and satirical songs of the Korça region. ✠

Lyrics:

O trima luftëtarë
Oh, brave warriors

O bij të Skënderbeut
Oh sons of Skanderbeg

Kërkoni shqipetarë lirinë e mëmëdheut
Albanians, ask for the freedom of the motherland

Se mjaft në robëri
Because enough in slavery

O e mjera Shqiperi
Oh wretched Albania

O djem rrëmbeni pushkët-ë
Oh boys grab your rifles

Ja vdekje ja liri
Freedom or death

Sot lipset me flamurë
with flag is required today

Malit të dalim-ë
Let's go to the mountains

Përmbi shkëmbinjë e gurë
Over rocks and stones

Lirinë të ngjallim-ë
Freedom to revive

T’ju urrej o shokë kjo jetë
Don't you hate this life, my friends

T’ju urrej kjo robëri
Don't you hate this slavery

Qysh e duroni vetë
How do you endure

Shqipërinë pa liri.
Albania without freedom.

Ju mbetet-ë në zgjedhë
you have to choose

Kur bota lulëzon
When the world thrives

Po Shqipërinë e mjerë
But poor Albania

Zemra s’ja u kujton.
The heart doesn't remind you.

✠ The Ustaša – Croatian Revolutionary Movement, commonly known as Ustaše or by anglicised versions Ustasha or Ustashe, was a Croatian fascist and ultranationalist organization active, as one organization, between 1929 and 1945. Its members murdered hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews, and Roma as well as political dissidents in Yugoslavia during World War II.

Much of the ideology of the Ustaše was based on Nazi racial theory. Like the Nazis, the Ustaše deemed Jews, Romani, and Slavs to be sub-humans (Untermenschen). They endorsed the claims from German racial theorists that Croats were not Slavs but a Germanic race. Their genocides against Serbs, against the Jews, and against the Romani were thus expressions of Nazi racial ideology. However, the Ustaše viewed the Bosniaks as "Muslim Croats," not Slavs, and as a result did not persecute Muslim Bosniaks on the basis of race.

In addition to Nazi racial theory, the Ustaše ideology incorporated fascism, Roman Catholicism and Croatian nationalism. The Ustaše supported the creation of a Greater Croatia that would span the Drina River and extend to the border of Belgrade. The movement emphasized the need for a racially "pure" Croatia and promoted genocide against Serbs, Jews and Romani people, and persecution of anti-fascist or dissident Croats and Bosniaks. ✠

Lyrics:

Puška puca a top rice, grmi kao grom,
As rifles shoot and cannons roar like thunders,

Sad Ustasa bojak bije za Hrvatski dom.
The Ustaša army fights for their Croatian Homeland.

Puška puca krv se lije, dušman bježi klet,
Rifle shoots, blood is spilled, the cursed enemy ruins

A Ustaška hrabra vojska vrši zavjet svet.
And the ustaša army fulfills their holy oath.

Tjera smjelo dušmanina, s praga djedovskog,
They chase the cursed enemy, from their forefathers' homeland,

I podiže staru slavu roda Hrvatskog.
And they bring the old glory back to the Croatian people.

Puška puca a top rice, barut miriše,
Rifles shoot and cannon roars, gunpowder smells so bad!

Mlad Ustaša na bojištu ranjen izdiše.
A young ustaša is now dying on the battlefield.

Ne plaši ga grom pušaka ni topova jek,
He's not scared of the rifles' roar nor the cannons' sound,

Dom, sloboda, vjerna ljubav, rani su mu lijek.
Home, freedom, faithful love, are the treatment of his wounds.

Oj Hrvatska zemljo mila, svice danak tvoj,
Oh Croatia, my dear land your dawn is coming,

For the brave ustaša army is fighting your battle!

Happy 4th of July

✠ Independence Day or the Fourth of July or July 4 is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain, King George III, and were now united, free, and independent states. The Congress had voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not declared until July 4.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches, and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States. ✠

Lyrics:

March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free.
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory.
We’re the Army and proud of our name!
We’re the Army and proudly proclaim:

First to fight for the right,
And to build the Nation’s might,
And the Army goes rolling along.
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting till the battle’s won,
And the Army goes rolling along.

Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong;
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That the Army goes rolling along.

Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,
San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,
And the Army went rolling along.
Minute men, from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And the Army keeps rolling along.

Men in rags, men who froze,
Still that Army met its foes,
And the Army went rolling along.
Faith in God, then we’re right,
And we’ll fight with all our might,
As the Army keeps rolling along.

Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong; (two! three!)
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That the Army goes rolling along! (keep it rolling!)
And the Army goes rolling along!

✠ The Waffen Grenadier Brigade of the SS Charlemagne was a Waffen-SS unit formed in September 1944 from French collaborationists, many of whom were already serving in various other German units. Named after the 9th-century Frankish king, it superseded the existing Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism formed in 1941 within the German Army and the SS-Volunteer Sturmbrigade France formed in July 1943, both of which were disbanded the same month. The division also included French recruits from other German military and paramilitary formations and Miliciens who had fled ahead of the Allied Liberation of France (June–November 1944).

After training, the Charlemagne Brigade was reclassified as a division as the 33rd Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS Charlemagne. It had 7,340 men at the time of its deployment to the Eastern Front in February 1945. It fought against Soviet forces in Pomerania where it was almost annihilated during the East Pomeranian Offensive within a month. Around 300 members of the unit participated in the Battle in Berlin in April–May 1945 and were among the last Axis forces to surrender. ✠

Lyrics:

SS marchons
SS marching

vers l’ennemi,
Towards the enemy,

Chantant le chant du diable.
Singing the song of the devil.

Car dans les cœurs des gars hardis,
Because in hearts of bold guys,

Souffle un vent formidable.
Blows a formidable wind.

Qu’importe que l’on nous acclame,
No matter that we are cheered,

Ou nous damne le monde entier.
Or that the world damns us.

Nous l’entraînerons dans les flammes,
We will drag it in the flames,

Et nous en rions volontiers.
And we laugh gladly.

La où nous passons que tout tremble,
Where we go all tremble,

Et le diable rie avec nous.
And the devil laughs with us.

Ah ah ah ah ah

We fight for Europe and for freedom,

Notre Honneur s’appelle fidélité.
Our honor is called loyalty.

✠ Norwegian Legion was a Norwegian collaborationist formation of the Waffen-SS during World War II. It was formed in German-occupied Norway on 29 June 1941, in support of the war aims of Nazi Germany. The unit was disbanded in 1943.
The unit was formed from volunteers who were assured that it would be a Norwegian unit with Norwegian officers, uniforms and language and that its area of operations would be Finland. Instead, the unit was deployed to Northern Russia in the occupied Soviet Union, in the Army Group North Rear Area. This was done by the Germans to avoid reinforcing any Norwegian territorial claims to the Kola peninsula and the Finnish Petsamo region, which were desired by the Quisling regime. Initially, Quisling hoped to deploy over 30,000 Norwegian legionaries to Finnish Lapland, but this was rejected by both the Germans and the Finns. ✠

Lyrics:

Og her i gamle Oslo by
Står Vikingkorpset frem.
Se baunene lyser fra fjellet
Bærer bud om den nye tid.
Og baunenes lys skal fortelle
om hirdmenn som fylkes til strid.

Ja, fienden de måtte vike,
selv paven han tapte sin makt,
ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha -ha.
For til vern om det stornorske riket
stod trofaste Hirdmenn på vakt.

English:

On viking raids to foreign lands
went men of Norse descent,
On king ships stood man by man
Of the Hird ready to fight
To Greenland and Iceland and Shetland
Went the voyage of longships west
In France, in Ireland and England,
The Norseman was an uninvited guest

Yes, the enemies had to yield
Even the pope lost his power
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha – ha.
Yes, for the defense of the great Norwegian Kingdom.
Loyal Hirdmen stood on guard

Now we raise a brand new Hird
Of Vidkun Quisling's men
And here in the old Oslo town
The Viking Corps stands forth
See the beacon glowing from the mountain
They bear tidings of a new age
And glow of the beacons shall tell
The stories of Hirdmen ready to fight

Yes, the enemies had to yield
Even the pope lost his power
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha – ha.
Yes, for the defense of the great Norwegian Kingdom.
Loyal Hirdmen stood on guard

✠ Movimiento Nacional Socialista de Chile was a political movement in Chile, during the Presidential Republic Era, which initially supported the ideas of Adolf Hitler, although it later moved towards a more local form of fascism. They were commonly known as Nacistas.
The movement was formed in April 1930 by General Diaz Valderrama, Carlos Keller (the main ideologue of the group) and Jorge González von Marées, who became leader. The party initially followed the ideas of Nazism closely, stressing anti-Semitism. It received financial support from the German population of Chile and soon built up a membership of 20,000 people. The movement stressed what it saw as the need for one party rule, corporatism and solidarity between classes, and soon set up its own paramilitary wing, the Tropas Nacistas de Asalto.

However support for Hitler was later abandoned, with González von Marées claiming by the late 1930s that the use of the name 'national socialist' had been an error on his part. Anti-semitism was also scaled back, with a more domestic form of fascism being offered instead.[2] Indeed the main ideological inspiration claimed by the group was Diego Portales and the choice of name had to an extent been inspired by the success the Nazis were enjoying in Europe and a desire to tap into their, at the time, high reputation.[1] Initial contact with the NSDAP/AO eventually ended when that group criticised the Nacistas for their lack of commitment to anti-Semitism.[1] Individual members (most notably, Miguel Serrano) continued to look to Adolf Hitler.. ✠

Lyrics:

Como un solo cuerpo marcharemos
Like a single body, we will march

por el camino de nuestro ideal
Through the path of our ideology

aquel marcado por el sentimiento,
The one marked by the sentiment...

Of those ones that died fighting.

Camaradas, nos ha llegado el tiempo
Comrades, the day has come

el crisoles fundiremos nuestro honor
In the fire, we shall melt our honor

para nunca traicionar a nuestra sangre
So we never betray our blood

Para impedir que se acalle nuestra voz
So our voices are never quieted

¡Chilenos, Chilenos!
Chileans, Chileans!

¡Vamos Chilenos a la acción¡
Let's go chileans, to action!

Libremos a nuestra patria, recontruyamos a nuestra nación
Let us free our Fatherland, let us reconstruct our nation

¡Chilenos, Chilenos!
Chileans, Chileans!

¡Vamos Chilenos a la acción¡
Let's go chileans, to action!

Nos grita nuestra sangre
Our blood is begging us for it

And so are the memories of he, who one day fell

Nuestro brazo firme elevaremos,
Our arm, we shall raise firmly

para hacer de nuestro pueblo una nación
To make our people a nation

forjado en los brazos de la estirpe
Forged in the arms of the lineage

Of a great Chile, of its history and its honor

nuestro estandarte, siempre portaremos
Our banner, we shall always carry with us

With its great thunderbolt, to victory it shall guide us

nuestra lucha hasta la lucha llevaremos
We shall continue our fight until we die

y si asi pues el ideal perdurará
And if it is like that, our ideal shall live on

"The Royal Salute", also known as "The Health of the Shah" was the royal and national anthem of Qajar Iran between 1873 and 1909. The French musician Alfred Jean Baptiste Lemaire composed this anthem in 1873 on the orders of Naser al-Din Shah. It had no lyrics. Salâm-e Shâh was played in official ceremonies during the reigns of Naser al-Din Shah, Mozaffar ad-Din Shah and Mohammad Ali Shah. It was also played as the Persian (Iranian) national anthem during Naser al-Din Shah’s and Mozaffar ad-Din Shah’s European tours.

In 1909, after the fall of Mohammad Ali Shah, the anthem was abolished, and after the coronation of his son and successor Ahmad Shah in 1914, Salute of Sublime State of Persia was adopted as the Iranian national anthem.

✠ The Volunteer Legion Netherlands was a collaborationist military formation recruited in the German-occupied Netherlands during World War II. It was formed in the aftermath of the German invasion of the Soviet Union and fought on the Eastern Front in the Waffen SS alongside similar formations from other parts of German-occupied Western Europe. It was the largest Dutch SS unit.

The Volunteer Legion was renamed the 4th SS Panzer Grenadier Brigade Netherlands in October 1943. It was officially re-designated as a division in February 1945 but never grew to larger than a brigade. ✠

✠ La Leggenda del Piave (The Legend of Piave), also known as La Canzone del Piave (The Song of Piave), is an Italian patriotic song written by E. A. Mario after the Battle of the Piave River in June 1918. In September 1943 the future king of Italy Umberto II chose it as the new national anthem replacing the Marcia Reale. It remained the official anthem of Italy until June 1944, when Rome was liberated and the government and the King returned to the capital, the Marcia Reale was in fact reintroduced as a national anthem and remained both after the appointment of Crown Prince Umberto of Savoy as Lieutenant General of the kingdom, and after his elevation King. After the 1946 Italian institutional referendum, the newly established Italian Republic selected Il Canto degli Italiani in its stead. Today, the song is popular in Italy and played by a military band on National Unity and Armed Forces Day (November 4). ✠

Lyrics:

Muti passaron quella notte i fanti:
tacere bisognava e andare avanti.
S'udiva intanto dalle amate sponde

Profughi ovunque dai lontani monti
venivano a gremir tutti i suoi ponti!
S'udiva allor dalle violate sponde

sfamarsi e tripudiare come allora.
"No!" disse il Piave, "No!" dissero i fanti,
"Mai più il nemico faccia un passo avanti!".
Si vide il Piave rigonfiar le sponde,
e come i fanti combattevan l'onde.
Rosso del sangue del nemico altero,
il Piave comandò "Indietro va', straniero!".

Indietreggiò il nemico fino a Trieste, fino a Trento,
risorgere Oberdan, Sauro e Battisti.
Infranse alfin l'italico valore

English:

The Piave whispered calm and placid during the crossing
of the first infantrymen on 24 May;
the army marched on to reach the frontier
to make a wall against the enemy.
The silent infantrymen passed in the night
they had to be silent and go forward.
From the beloved river banks they heard
light and low the exultation of the waves.
It was a sweet and propitious omen.
The Piave whispered: the foreigner shall not pass!

But on a sad night, they talked about a dark event,
the Piave felt the wrath and the dismay.
Alas, he saw so many people coming down, leaving their homes;
because the enemy broke through at Caporetto.
Refugees everywhere, from the distant mountains,
they came to crowd all his bridges.
They heard from the violated river-banks
light and sad the murmur of the waves
Like a sob in that black autumn
the Piave whispered: the foreigner is returning!

And the enemy returned, moved by his pride and by his hunger,
he wanted to vent all his cravings.
He saw the sunny plain from up there,
he wanted to feed and to exult like in the past.
No! the Piave said, "No!" said the infantrymen,
"May the enemy never make a single step ahead!"
They saw the Piave swelling from his banks
and his waves were fighting like the infantrymen.
Red with the blood of the haughty enemy,
the Piave ordered them: "Go back, foreigner!"

Then the enemy withdrew to Trieste, to Trento
and victory spread her wings on the air.
The ancestral oath was honored; among the ranks they saw
Oberdan, Sauro and Battisti resurrecting.
At last the Italic courage broke
the gallows tree and the weapons of the hangman.
Secure the Alps, free the shores,
the Piave got silent, the waves appeased.
On the fatherland's soil, the grim empires vanquished,
peace found neither oppressed people nor foreigners.

✠ The Imperial Japanese Navy in World War II, at the beginning of the Pacific War in December 1941, was the third most powerful navy in the world, and the naval air service was one of the most potent air forces in the world. During the first six months of the war, the Imperial Japanese Navy enjoyed spectacular success inflicting heavy defeats on Allied forces, being undefeated in every battle. The attack on Pearl Harbor crippled the battleships of the US Pacific Fleet, while Allied navies were devastated during Japan's conquest of Southeast Asia. Japanese naval aircraft were also responsible for the sinking of HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse which was the first time that capital ships were sunk by aerial attack while underway. In April 1942, the Indian Ocean raid drove the Royal Navy from South East Asia. After these successes, the Japanese now concentrated on the elimination and neutralization of strategic points from where the Allies could launch counteroffensives against Japan's conquests.[6] However, at Coral Sea the Japanese were forced to abandon their attempts to isolate Australia while the defeat at Midway saw them forced on the defensive. The campaign in the Solomon Islands, in which the Japanese lost the war of attrition, was the most decisive; they had failed to commit enough forces in sufficient time. ✠

✠ The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France (and later western Europe) and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.

Planning for the operation began in 1943. In the months leading up to the invasion, the Allies conducted a substantial military deception, codenamed Operation Bodyguard, to mislead the Germans as to the date and location of the main Allied landings. The weather on D-Day was far from ideal, and the operation had to be delayed 24 hours; a further postponement would have meant a delay of at least two weeks, as the invasion planners had requirements for the phase of the moon, the tides, and the time of day that meant only a few days each month were deemed suitable. Adolf Hitler placed Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in command of German forces and of developing fortifications along the Atlantic Wall in anticipation of an Allied invasion. US President Franklin D. Roosevelt placed Major General Dwight D. Eisenhower in command of Allied forces. ✠

Lyrics:

He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright,
He checked all his equipment and made sure his pack was tight;
He had to sit and listen to those awful engines roar,
"You ain't gonna jump no more!"

Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

"Is everybody happy?" cried the Sergeant looking up,
Our Hero feebly answered "Yes," and then they stood him up;
He jumped into the icy blast, his static line unhooked,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock,
He felt the wind, he felt the cold, he felt the awful drop,
The silk from his reserves spilled out, and wrapped around his legs,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

The risers swung around his neck, connectors cracked his dome,
Suspension lines were tied in knots around his skinny bones;
The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the ground.
He ain't gonna jump no more.

The days he'd lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind,
He thought about the girl back home, the one he'd left behind;
He thought about the medic corps, and wondered what they'd find,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild,
The medics jumped and screamed with glee, they rolled their sleeves and smiled,
For it had been a week or more since last a 'Chute had failed,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

He hit the ground, the sound was "SPLAT", his blood went spurting high;
His comrades, they were heard to say "A hell of a way to die!"
He lay there, rolling 'round in the welter of his gore,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(slowly, solemnly; about half the speed of the other verses)
There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the chute,
Intestines were a-dangling from his paratroopers suit,
He was a mess, they picked him up, and poured him from his boots,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

✠ Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte was a Chilean Army General, politician and military dictator who ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990, first as the leader of the Military Junta of Chile from 1973 to 1981, being self-declared President of the Republic by the junta in 1974 and becoming the de facto dictator of Chile, and after from 1981 to 1990 as de jure President after a new Constitution, which confirmed him in the office, was approved by a referendum in 1980.

Augusto Pinochet rose through the ranks of the Chilean Army to become General Chief of Staff in early 1972 before being appointed its Commander-in-Chief on 23 August 1973 by President Salvador Allende. On 11 September 1973, Pinochet seized power in Chile in a coup d'état, with the support of the U.S., that toppled Allende's democratically elected Unidad Popular government and ended civilian rule. In December 1974, the ruling military junta appointed Pinochet Supreme Head of the nation by joint decree, although without the support of one of the coup's instigators, Air Force General Gustavo Leigh. After his rise to power, Pinochet persecuted leftists, socialists, and political critics, resulting in the executions of from 1,200 to 3,200 people, the internment of as many as 80,000 people, and the torture of tens of thousands. According to the Chilean government, the number of executions and forced disappearances was 3,095. Operation Condor was founded at the behest of the Pinochet regime in late November 1975, his 60th birthday. ✠

✠ The Rhodesian Bush War—also called the Second Chimurenga and the Zimbabwe War of Liberation—was a civil conflict from July 1964 to December 1979 in the unrecognised country of Rhodesia . The conflict pitted three forces against one another: the Rhodesian white minority-led government of Ian Smith the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army, the military wing of Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe African National Union; and the Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army of Joshua Nkomo's Zimbabwe African People's Union. ✠

Lyrics:

Here's the story of Rhodesia
A land both fair and great
On 11th of November
An independent state

This was much against the wishes
Of certain governments
Whose leaders tried to break us down
To make us all repent

But we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

They can send their men to murder
And they can shout their words of hate
But the cost of keeping this land free
Can never be too great

For our men and boys are fighting
For the things that they hold dear
That this land and all its people
Will never disappear

'Cause we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

We'll preserve this little nation
For our children's children too
For once you're a Rhodesian
No other land will do

We will stand tall in the sunshine
With the truth upon our side
And if we have to go alone
We'll go alone with pride

But we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

Yes we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

Because we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

✠ The Korean War was a war between North Korea, with military support from China and the Soviet Union, and South Korea, backed by personnel from the United Nations (principally the United States). The war began on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea following clashes along the border and insurrections in the south. The war ended unofficially on 27 July 1953 in an armistice. ✠

Lyrics:

Let us safeguard the glorious name of the fatherland

We are invincible, bullets of justice

Like a storm when an order is given

Carry out an all-out attack with raining fire

Let's go to defeat the enemy of mankind!

Hwarangs are firmly standing together

Wherever the Army goes there will be peace

Both you and I are to advance striving to be first

From the Amnok river to Mt. Baekdu, with a washed sword

Veterans of Korea, pledge unification and eradication of communism!

'Cause of our people's suffering to reach the sky

We rose up and are here today.

Even gods resent the invasion of the foe

Only annihilation, no exception

FINALLY WE SET THE KREMLIN ON FIRE!

✠ The Yugoslav National Movement, also known as the United Militant Labour Organization, was a Yugoslav fascist movement and organization led by politician Dimitrije Ljotić. Founded in 1935, it received considerable German financial and political assistance during the interwar period and participated in the 1935 and 1938 Yugoslav parliamentary elections, in which it never received more than 1 percent of the popular vote.

Following the Axis invasion and occupation of Yugoslavia in April 1941, the Germans selected several Zbor members to join the Serbian puppet government of Milan Nedić. The Serbian Volunteer Corps (SDK) was established as Zbor's party army. Ljotić had no control over the SDK, which was commanded by Colonel Kosta Mušicki. In late 1944, Ljotić and his followers retreated to Slovenia with the Germans and other collaborationist formations. In March, Ljotić and Chetnik leader Draža Mihailović agreed on a last-ditch alliance against the Yugoslav Partisans. Ljotić's followers were placed under the command of Chetnik commander Miodrag Damjanović. Ljotić was killed in an automobile accident in late April 1945. His followers later fled to Italy alongside the Chetniks. The Western Allies extradited many back to Yugoslavia following the war, where they were summarily executed and buried in mass graves. Those who were not extradited immigrated to western countries and established émigré organizations intended to promote Zbor's political agenda. ✠

Lyrics:

Vojska smene novu zemlju nosi,
The army of change is carrying a new country,

Silna kao potopa val.
Mighty as the waves of a flood.

Žrtvom, borbom, ona se ponosi,
With sacrifice and battle it brags itself,

Verom u svoj ideal.
Faithful in its ideal.

Napred drugovi,
Onwards comrades,

Naše vreme stiže.
Our time is coming.

Pobedi sve bliže.
We are closer to victory.

Vojska smene junački se bori,
The army of change is fighting gallantly,

Dobila je zapovest.
They received an order.

Dušmanina ona se ne boji
The enemy does not scare them

Jer je u nje čvrsta svest.
For they have a strong will.

The song is singed by Kastriot Tusha 1999.

The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia was the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's military operation against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War. The air strikes lasted from March 24, 1999 to June 10, 1999. The bombings continued until an agreement was reached that led to the withdrawal of Yugoslav armed forces from Kosovo, and the establishment of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, a UN peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. The official NATO operation code name was "Operation Allied Force" whereas the United States called it "Operation Noble Anvil" in Yugoslavia the operation was incorrectly called "Merciful Angel" as a result of a misunderstanding or mistranslation.

✠ The Rexist Party, or simply Rex, was a far-right Catholic, nationalist, authoritarian and corporatist political party active in Belgium from 1935 until 1945. The party was founded by a journalist, Léon Degrelle, and, unlike other fascist parties in the Belgium of the time, advocated Belgian unitarism and royalism. Initially the party ran in both Flanders and Wallonia, but it never achieved much success outside Wallonia and Brussels. Its name was derived from the Roman Catholic journal and publishing company Christus Rex.

The highest electoral achievement of the Rexist Party was its gaining of 21 out of 202 deputies (with 11.4% of the vote) and twelve senators in the 1936 election. Never a mass movement, it was on the decline by 1938. During the German occupation of Belgium in World War II, Rex was the largest collaborationist group in French-speaking Belgium, paralleled by the Vlaams Nationaal Verbond (VNV) in Flanders. By the end of the war Rex was widely discredited, and was banned following the liberation.

Initially modelled on Italian Fascism and Spanish Falangism, it later drew closer to German Nazism. The Party espoused a "right-wing revolution" and the dominance of the Catholic Church in Belgium, but its ideology came to be vigorously opposed by the leader of the Belgian Church Cardinal van Roey, who called Rexism a "danger to the church and to the country". ✠

Lyrics:

English:

The century marches, and lays its grounds
It heralds us a new age!
We follow it, and we remember
Our ancestors, and their immortal glory!
If your land is small, on a new world
The future calling you has your flag on it!

March happily, vigorous people
Towards destinies worthy of you!
God protect free Belgium
And Her King!

✠ The Beiyang Army, named after the Beiyang region, was a powerful, Western-style Imperial Chinese Army established by the Qing Dynasty government in the late 19th century. It was the centerpiece of a general reconstruction of Qing China's military system. The Beiyang Army played a major role in Chinese politics for at least three decades and arguably right up to 1949. It made the Xinhai Revolution of 1911 possible, and, by dividing into warlord factions known as the Beiyang Clique, ushered in a period of regional division.

The Beiyang Army had its origins in the Newly Created Army established in late 1895 under Yuan Shikai's command, which rapidly expanded after 1901 with new recruits and by incorporating other forces. By 1906 it had six divisions and was the most advanced army under the command of the Qing dynasty. ✠

English:

Ten thousand nations celebrate
the Imperial Throne's prosperity

The fortune star climbs over the
iridescent clouds of five colours

The crystal-blue ocean glitters
under the spring's sunshine

Tributaries bow to the empire,
like flowers centering a Phoenix

✠ The anti-communist resistance in Poland, also referred to as the Polish anti-Communist insurrection fought between 1944 and 1946, was an armed struggle by the Polish Underground against the Soviet takeover of Poland at the end of World War II in Europe. The guerrilla warfare conducted by the resistance movement formed during the war, included an array of military attacks launched against Communist prisons, state security offices, detention facilities for political prisoners, and prison camps set up across the country by the Stalinist authorities.

In January 1945, the pro-Soviet government installed in Poland by the advancing Red Army declared as "illegal" the Polish anti-Nazi resistance movement, principally the Home Army , and ordered its surviving members to come out into the open while guaranteeing them freedom and safety. Many underground fighters decided to lay down their arms and register, but after doing so, most of them were arrested and thrown in prison. Thousands of them were tortured and later deported into the Soviet Gulag camp system, or tried by kangaroo courts and murdered out of sight after extreme beatings (see, the Uroczysko Baran killing fields among similar others).

As a result of repression, Armia Krajowa (AK) members quickly stopped trusting the new government, and some of them regrouped in a clandestine manner in order to oppose the new Soviet occupiers. They formed various post-AK resistance organisations, such as Wolność i Niezawisłość ("Freedom and Sovereignty"), and liberated hundreds of political prisoners. They became known as the "cursed soldiers" of the Polish underground, and most were eventually captured or killed by the security services and special assassination squads. ✠

Lyrics:

Był już krwawy Bierut
I krwawy Gomułka
Potem krwawy Gierek,
Teraz wojtka spółka.
Obojętnie kto z nich
Będzie rządzić krajem,
Zawsze będzie rządził
Pałką i nahajem.

Nie chcemy komuny, nie chcemy już.
Nie chcemy ni sierpa, ni młota.
Za Katyń, za Grodno, za Wilno i Lwów
Zapłaci czerwona hołota.

Za mordy, za gwałty, cierpienia i łzy,
Za lata w niewoli spędzone,
Za fałsze, oszczerstwa i cyniczne gry,
Nadzieje bestialsko zniszczone.

Od Jałty ten koszmar sowiecki już trwa
I z każdym wciąż rokiem narasta.

Choć w celach ponurych nadzieja w nas tkwi,
Wolności uchylą się wrota.
Nadejdą dla WRONy ostatnie już dni,
Zamilknie czerwona hołota.

Czas błędów, wypaczeń już znudził się nam,
Wymierzmy sztywnemu więc kopa,
Czas Polsko wystawić rachunek swych ran,
Niech płaci czerwona hołota.

✠ The National Fascist Party of Benito Mussolini came to power in Italy in 1922 at the end of a period of social unrest. Working class activism was at a high point, militant trade unions were organizing increasingly frequent strikes to demand workers' rights and the Italian Socialist Party was making significant electoral gains. This caused widespread fear among Italian business circles and part of the middle class, who believed that a communist revolution was imminent. With the traditional right-wing parties appearing incapable of dealing with the situation, King Victor Emmanuel III turned to the young Fascist movement, which he considered to hold a hardline right-wing orientation by violently suppressing strikes and appointed Benito Mussolini prime minister. Soon after his rise to power, Mussolini defined his economic stance by saying: "The government will accord full freedom to private enterprise and will abandon all intervention in private economy". ✠

Lyrics:

m affretto per andare all’officina,
luce di vita, fonte di lavor!
I miei Balilla dormono

fior d’ogni fiore,
Patria e famiglia sono il nostro amore,
mastro Benito ci ha forgiato il cuore!

L’opera ferve attenta e poderosa,

fiero e contento quasi a prima sera,
al dolce suono dell’Ave Maria
io benedico la camicia nera!
I miei Balilla aspettano,
vicino a me si stringono,

English:

At the sound of the morning bell
The sun awakes, with his golden rays
And I hurry to get to the workingshop
Light of life, source of labor!
My Balilla sleep, and my heart remains among them!
My mind is tranquil, in my house there's no lack of bread!
And by the road I sing
This ditty that is so dear to me:
Flower of all flowers,
Fatherland and family are our true love!
Master Benito has forged our hearts!

The work bustles mighty and attentive
The mallet beats, and the furnace burns
The arm, which is made of steel and never rests
It produces for war and for peace!
And a great maker wakes in each forge of our people!
To make Italy
Always greater, and ever powerful!
And I work and sing
This ditty that is so dear to me:
A flower to be appreciated,
The Duce has said:
"Believe and obey, fight to win or to die!"

The day goes by, and I return home,
Proud and happy, almost as I was last night
At the sweet sound of the Ave Maria.
I bless the Black Shirt!
My Ballila wait for me.
They are with their mother, my darling!
They come close and hug me,
And kiss my industrious hands!
And proudly I sing
This ditty that is so dear to me:
Lily of the valley,
We'll have the right, it all has been said!
For each spade and book, there's a musket!

Baştan başa tarihtir mektebin her zerresi,
Sarsılmayan azminle çelik kalalar erir.

Şahikalar üstünde meydan okur bu erler,
Yaklaşacak düşmana mezar olur bu yerler,
Bağlayamaz bir kuvvet bu kasırga milleti,
Tarihlere sorun ki bize “Ölmez Türk” derler!

English:

We are the descendants of a race that creates thunders,
We are familiar to histories that witnessed cataclysms
We founded this Republic with blood and wisdom
Even if all Hells break loose, we are her eternal keepers

Long live and prosper, oh Academy; with your indestructible might!
Listen to the voice that comes from heavens, speaking to you:
You are the evershining sun over the Turkish motherland!
In the eagle nests is this nation free with you!

The War Academy gives this army glory for a hundred years,
The geniuses it creates rise up to the skies
Every bit of the academy smells of history from end to end!
Your adamantine resolution makes castles of steel melt!

These soldiers challenge them all from over the summits,
These lands will be a grave to the enemy who dares to approach!
No force can ever bind this foolhardy nation!
Ask the histories, they call us "the Immortal Turk!"

During the Bush War, the BSAP operated several anti-guerrilla units, most prominently the Police Anti-Terrorist Unit, which tracked and engaged Communist guerrillas; the Support Unit, which was a police field force, nicknamed the "Black Boots" because of the colour of their footwear; and the Civilian African Tracking Unit, composed mostly of black Rhodesian trackers utilising the traditional skills and techniques of the Shangaan people.

Lyrics:

If you have a look around a jungle JOC.
It isn't very hard to find a super cop;
You can tell who he is if you look down
'Cause he don't wear those boots of brown.

He wears black boots and he's comin to get ya,
An eagle on his sleeve and I can bet ya,
Any old place where the black boots are,
It ain't no place for a gandanga.

He can run like a cheetah, he can fight like a bear,
He can jump like a kudu, he can jinx like a hare
And just like a monkey he can climb a tree,
He can swim like a tiger in the Zambezi.

He wears black boots and he's comin to get ya,
An eagle on his sleeve and I can bet ya,
Any old place where the black boots are,
It ain't no place for a gandanga.

If a terr's on the run or if he goes to ground,
Doesn't really matter 'cause they'll hunt him down
And if that terr's the first that shoots,
He's got no chance against the Black Boots,

He wears black boots and he's comin to get ya,
An eagle on his sleeve and I can bet ya,
Any old place where the black boots are,
It ain't no place for a gandanga.

'Way down Thrasher or a Hurricane,
Repulse, Tangent, it's all the same,
They can go where they like, do what they can,
But the Black boots always get their man.

He wears black boots and he's comin to get ya,
An eagle on his sleeve and I can bet ya,
Any old place where the black boots are,
It ain't no place for a gandanga.

He wears black boots and he's comin to get ya,
An eagle on his sleeve and I can bet ya,
Any old place where the black boots are,
It ain't no place for a gandanga.

✠ Anton Adriaan Mussert (11 May 1894 – 7 May 1946) was a Dutch politician who co-founded the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands (NSB) in 1931 and served as its leader until the party was banned in 1945. As such, he was the most prominent Dutch fascist before and during World War II. Mussert collaborated with the German occupation government, but was granted little actual power and held the nominal title of Leider van het Nederlandsche Volk ("Leader of the Dutch People") from 1942 onwards. In May 1945, as the war came to an end in Europe, Mussert was captured and arrested by Allied forces. He was charged and convicted of treason, and was executed in 1946. ✠

✠ The Greek junta or Regime of the Colonels was a far-right military junta that ruled Greece from 1967 to 1974. On 21 April 1967, a group of colonels overthrew the caretaker government a month before scheduled elections which Georgios Papandreou's Centre Union was favoured to win. The dictatorship was characterised by right-wing cultural policies, restrictions on civil liberties, and the imprisonment, torture, and exile of political opponents. An attempt to renew its support in a 1973 referendum on the monarchy and gradual democratisation was ended by another coup by hardliner Dimitrios Ioannidis. The junta's rule ended on 24 July 1974 under the pressure of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, leading to the Metapolitefsi ("regime change") to democracy and the establishment of the Third Hellenic Republic. ✠

✠ The AFBiH was formed from three armies of the Bosnian War period: the Bosnian (dominantly Bosniak with numbers of Serbs and Croats) Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska, and the Croat Defence Council.

The Army of the Republic of Bosnia And Herzegovina was created on 15 April 1992 during the early days of the Bosnian War. Before the ARBiH was formally created, there existed Territorial Defence, an official military force of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a number of paramilitary groups such as the Green Berets, Patriotic League, and civil defense groups, as well as many criminal gangs and collections of police and military professionals. The army was formed under poor circumstances, with a very low number of tanks, APCs and no military aviation assets. The army was divided into Corps, each Corp was stationed in a territory. The first commander was Sefer Halilović. ✠

✠ The Ceasefire Agreement of the Confederacy commenced with the ceasefire agreement of the Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, at Appomattox Court House, by General Robert E. Lee and concluded with the ceasefire agreement of the Shenandoah on November 6, 1865, bringing the hostilities of the American Civil War to a close.
The fighting of the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War between Lieut. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant’s Army of the Potomac and Lee's Army of Northern Virginia was reported considerably more often in the newspapers than the battles of the Western Theater. Reporting of the Eastern Theater skirmishes largely dominated the newspapers as the Appomattox Campaign developed. Lee’s army fought a series of battles in the Appomattox Campaign against Grant that ultimately stretched thin his lines of defense. Lee's extended lines were mostly on small sections of thirty miles of strongholds around Richmond and Petersburg. His troops ultimately became exhausted defending this line because they were too thinned out. Grant then took advantage of the situation and launched attacks on this thirty mile long poorly defended front. This ultimately led to the surrender of Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox. ✠

Lyrics:

When Johnny comes marching home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Oh, the men will cheer the boys will shout
The ladies they will all turn out,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.

Get ready for the Jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Well, the laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.

In eighteen hundred and sixty-one
Hurrah! Hurrah!
That was when the war begun,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
In eighteen hundred and sixty-two,
Both sides were falling to,
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.

In eighteen hundred and sixty-three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Old Abe, he ended slavery
Hurrah! Hurrah!
In eighteen hundred and sixty-three
Old Abe, he ended slavery
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all drink stone wine,
When Johnny comes marching home.

In eighteen hundred and sixty-four,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Abe called for five hundred thousand more,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
In eighteen hundred and sixty-five,
They talked rebellion--strife;
And we'll all drink stone wine
When Johnny comes marching home.
And we'll all drink stone wine
When Johnny comes marching home.

✠ The Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are the principal deterrent force against any aggression that could be shown against the sovereign state of Ukraine. All military and security forces, including the Armed Forces, are under the command of the President of Ukraine, and subject to oversight by a permanent Verkhovna Rada parliamentary commission.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are composed of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the Ukrainian Navy, the Ukrainian Air Force, and the Ukrainian Airmobile Forces. Ukraine's army forces maintain their own small Ukrainian Naval Infantry force as well as their own Ukrainian Naval Aviation force. The Ukrainian Sea Guard is the coast guard service of Ukraine, however, it is part of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and is not subordinate to the Navy. As a result of the Russian military intervention in Ukraine from 2014, the president commissioned governors of oblasts of Ukraine to create volunteer units under the government program "Territorial Defense". Initially these units received minimal funding coming from regional budgets and mostly relied on donations. In November 2014 most of the territorial battalions were integrated into Ukraine's Ground forces. ✠

Lyrics:

English:

Hey, by the steppes, and by the dark ravines
The campaign marches forth with iron pikes.
He who's brave, now, let him come on with us,
Let us all be knights, O you young men!
We will not fight just for anyone
We'll not be mercenaries, for no one
For Ukraine, it's now that we all live for
And for her let's loose our heads together.

Every enemy comes here to free us,
And he steals the land for himself,
For a grave, now, will he have the land,
Onthat grave will our freedom blossom!

Fly, O song, underneath the heavens,
To Ukrainians do speak to their dear hearts
Let our will, now, always be here with us,
But to he enemies desire let it be an end!

✠ The Latvian Legion was a formation of the German Waffen-SS during World War II. Created in 1943, it consisted primarily of ethnic Latvian personnel. The legion consisted of two divisions of the Waffen-SS: the 15th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Latvian), and the 19th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (2nd Latvian). The 15th Division was administratively subordinated to the VI SS Corps, but operationally it was in reserve or at the disposal of the XXXXIII Army Corps, 16th Army, Army Group North. The 19th Division held out in the Courland Pocket until May 1945, the close of World War II, when it was among the last of Nazi Germany's forces to surrender. ✠

Lyrics:

Mirdzot šķēpiem zeltsaules staros,
Tauru skaņās kad viļņojas gaiss,
Cauri pilsētas vecajiem vārtiem
Ienāk latviešu strēlnieku pulks.

Aiz aizkariem augstu pie loga
Meičas actiņas skumīgi mirdz;
Domā strēlnieks - meiča ir daiļa,
Vai kāds brīnums, ka iesilst tam sirds.

Pie miera jau strēlnieki dodas,
Ir pusnakts un visi jau dus.
Tikai dārzā zem ozola zariem
Mainās skūpsti, bet ozols cieš klus`...

No rīta zeltsaules staros,
Tauru skaņās kad viļņojas gaiss,
Dodas strēlnieki sīvajā kaujā,
Kas ir bijis, to nestāsta nakts.

Aiz aizkariem augstu pie loga
Meičas actiņas skumīgi mirdz;
Domā meiča - vai redzēšu zēnu,
Kura dēļ klusi pukst viņas sirds.

Laukos aurot sāk rudeņa vēji,
Brāļu kapenēm pāri tie skrien.
Bāla meiča kopj kapu ar rozēm,
Rūgtu rūgtajās asaras lej.

Happy Greek Independence Day

( United States of Fascism unuploaded video )

✠ The Greek War of Independence, also known as the Greek Revolution , was a successful war of independence waged by Greek revolutionaries against the Ottoman Empire between 1821 and 1830. The Greeks were later assisted by Great Britain, France and Russia, while the Ottomans were aided by their North African vassals, particularly the eyalet of Egypt. The war led to the formation of modern Greece. The revolution is celebrated by Greeks around the world as independence day on 25 March. ✠

Lyrics:

I remember one by one, glorious years.
I wish it was again the 1821, for a moment.

I would pass riding a horse from the wide road,
and I would drink wine with Kolokotronis.

I would fight in the mornings at castles,
and my sword would be catching fire,
and the nights with the stars,
i would hug a pretty girl.

I remember one by one, glorious years.
I wish it was again the 1821, for a night.

I would be the first to start dancing in the streets of Morias
and behind me the Maniates and Psariani
and when when I would fall wounded under the flowers,
I would like for flowers, hands and heavens to rain on me.

I would fight in the mornings at castles,
and my sword would be catching fire,
and the nights with the stars,
i would hug a pretty girl.

I remember one by one, glorious years.
I wish it was again the 1821, for a night.

✠ The Voluntary Militia for National Security, commonly called the Blackshirts or squadristi, was originally the paramilitary wing of the National Fascist Party, known as the Squadrismo, and after 1923 an all-volunteer militia of the Kingdom of Italy under Fascist rule, similar to the SA in Nazi Germany. Its members were distinguished by their black uniforms and their loyalty to Benito Mussolini, the Duce (leader) of Fascism, to whom they swore an oath. The founders of the paramilitary groups were nationalist intellectuals, former army officers and young landowners opposing peasants' and country labourers' unions. Their methods became harsher as Mussolini's power grew, and they used violence and intimidation against Mussolini's opponents. In 1943, following the fall of the Fascist regime, the MVSN was integrated into the Royal Italian Army and disbanded. ✠

Lyrics:

Rataplan – plan – plan…

col cuore in festa,
i battaglioni van marciando a cento a cento,

consacrando in faccia all’Europa il testo
d’un nuovo patto
d’amor di fede e civiltà!

Eja, eja, alalà! Eja, eja, alalà!
Va dritta e fiera, Camicia Nera!
Eja, eja, alalà! Eja, eja, alalà!
Laggiù sul mar un segno appar:
il Duce vincerà!

Rataplan – plan – plan…
Ma la gente avara si prese invidia
dell’ardimento,

tu bevi e prendi,
noi non vogliamo indietreggiar!”

Eja, eja, alalà! Eja, eja, alalà!
Va dritta e fiera, Camicia Nera!
Eja, eja, alalà! Eja, eja, alalà!
Laggiù sul mar un segno appar:
il Duce vincerà!

✠ The Hundred Days War, also known as the War of the Seventh Coalition, marked the period between Napoleon's return from eleven months of exile on the island of Elba to Paris on 20 March 1815 and the second restoration of King Louis XVIII on 8 July 1815 (a period of 111 days). This period saw the War of the Seventh Coalition, and includes the Waterloo Campaign, the Neapolitan War as well as several other minor campaigns. The phrase les Cent Jours (the hundred days) was first used by the prefect of Paris, Gaspard, comte de Chabrol, in his speech welcoming the king back to Paris on 8 July.

Napoleon returned while the Congress of Vienna was sitting. On 13 March, seven days before Napoleon reached Paris, the powers at the Congress of Vienna declared him an outlaw, and on 25 March Austria, Prussia, Russia and the United Kingdom, the four Great Powers and key members of the Seventh Coalition, bound themselves to put 150,000 men each into the field to end his rule. This set the stage for the last conflict in the Napoleonic Wars, the defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, the second restoration of the French kingdom, and the permanent exile of Napoleon to the distant island of Saint Helena, where he died in May 1821. ✠

✠ The Bombing of Barcelona was a series of airstrikes led by Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany supporting the Franco-led Nationalist rebel army, which took place from 16 to 18 March 1938, during the Spanish Civil War. Up to 1,300 people were killed and at least 2,000 were wounded. It is considered the first aerial carpet bombing in history. In March 1938, the Nationalists started an offensive in Aragon, after the Battle of Teruel. On 15 March, the French government, led by Léon Blum, decided to reopen the Spanish frontier,[1] and Soviet supplies began to pass to Barcelona. Fascist Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, without informing Francisco Franco beforehand, decided to carry out massive air bombing raids against Barcelona in order to "weaken the morale of the Reds". Mussolini, like the Italian general Giulio Douhet, believed that aircraft could win a war through terror. ✠

Lyrics:

Kerenski se leipoi tuiman taikinan
Suolaksi hän aikoi pienen Suomenmaan.
Ai, ai, Kerenski, turha on sun toiveesi,
Suomi on jo vapaa maa ryssän vallasta.

Puolanmaa on jauhot, Viro hiivana.
Ukraina on sokeri, Liivi liemenä
Aunus, Vepsä, Inkeri, Doni, Krimi, Kaukaasi
Kardemummit, sahraimet, voit ja maustineet.

Taikina se paisui, kiehui, kohosi,
Kerenski se riehui, sotki, hämmensi.
Vatkaat hyvää taikinaa, harvoin sitä nähdä saa,
Suolaista ja makeaa, niin kuin hunajaa.

Helsingissä kerran kävi Kerenski,
Tokoille hän siellä suuta suikkasi.
Suomen herrat lumosi, taikinahan survosi.
Ai, ai, Kerenski, turhat toiveesi!

Saksan koira jalo kaatoi taikinan
Hiivat, suolat ahmi kitaansa mahtavaan.
Kokki itse karkasi, ulkomaille laukkasi.
Ai, ai, Kerenski, turhat toiveesi!

English:

Kerensky baked a saltless dough
he wanted little Finland to be the salt.
Oh, oh, Kerensky, your wishes are useless,
Finland is already free from Russian rule.

Poland is the flowr, Estonia is the yeast.
Ukraine is the sugar, Latvia is the broth.
Olonets, Veps, Ingria, Don, Crimea, Caucasus
cardemom, saffron, butters and spices.

The dough expanded, boiled, arose,
Kerensky raged, mixed, stirred.
What a good dough, you rarely see one of those
lovely and sweet, like honey.

Kerensky once went to Helsinki,
and there he kissed Tokoi.
He hypnotised the Finnish lords, and squashed the dough
Oh, oh, Kerensky, your wishes are useless!

The noble German dog, spilled the dough,
yeast and salt gobbled into its mighty throat.
The cook himself escaped, away to foreign lands.
Oh, oh, Kerensky, your wishes are useless!

✠ The Dutch East Indies campaign of 1941–1942 was the conquest of the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia) by forces from the Empire of Japan in the early days of the Pacific campaign of World War II. Forces from the Allies attempted unsuccessfully to defend the islands. The East Indies were targeted by the Japanese for their rich oil resources which would become a vital asset during the war. The campaign and subsequent three and a half year Japanese occupation was also a major factor in the end of Dutch colonial rule in the region.

By February, Japanese forces had landed on Sumatra and encouraged a revolt in Aceh. Most of the naval components of the allied force were crushed in the battles of Java Sea, Sunda Strait and Second Java Sea; the only American ship larger than a destroyer to survive the battles was the old cruiser Marblehead. In addition, the land forces on the islands were quickly overwhelmed and most major resistance was overcome within two months of the initial assaults, although a guerrilla campaign in Timor was successfully waged for a time. The ABDA command was dissolved at about 01:00 on 1 March, less than two months after its inception, by Admiral Conrad Emil Lambert Helfrich. ✠

✠ "Do You Hear the People Sing?" is one of the principal and most recognisable songs from the 1980 musical Les Misérables. It is sung twice in the stage musical.

The song, composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg (music), Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel (original French lyrics), and Herbert Kretzmer (English lyrics) is first sung in Act I by Enjolras and the other students at the ABC Cafe as they prepare themselves to launch a rebellion in the streets of Paris during the funeral procession of General Jean Maximilien Lamarque. The song is sung again in the finale as the final song of the musical. This second version, which immediately follows a number by Jean Valjean and others, is sung by the entire cast with revised lyrics, and becomes progressively louder with each stanza.

The song is a revolutionary call for people to overcome adversity. The "barricades" referred to in the song are erected by the rebel students in the streets of Paris in the musical's second act. They are to draw the National Guard into combat and ignite a civilian uprising to overthrow the government, but their rebellion eventually fails. ✠

Lyrics:

UK:
Do you hear the people sing
singing the song of angry men,
it is the music of a people
who will not be slaves again,
when the beating of your heart,
echoes the beating of a drum,
there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes

France:
A la volonté du people,
et à la santé du progress

Germany:
Das ist die Symphonie von Menschen,
die nicht länger Sklaven sind!

Arata ni atsui inochi ga hajimaru
asu ga kita toki sou sa asu ga

Hungary:
Állsz-e mellénk, hogyha kell,
Kiállsz-e értünk s harcunkért?

Sweden:
I från vår barrikad
Så kan man se ett framtidsland
Så kom med och slåss
Du ska kämpa med oss om du kan

Poland:
Wytęż słuch to śpiewa lud
Co nie chce żyć w niewoli znów

Netherlands:

Canada:
When the beating of your heart,
echoes the beating of the drums,
there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes.

Austria:
Wenn du kämpfst mit ganzer Kraft,
hat bald ein Ende alle Not.

Australia:
Some will fall and some will live,
will you stand up and take your chance,
the blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of France

Kan du høyre folkets song?
Det er ein song frå arge menn!

✠ The Confederate States of America (CSA), commonly referred to as the Confederate States or the Confederacy, was an unrecognized breakaway state in existence from February 8, 1861, to May 9, 1865, that fought against the United States of America during the American Civil War. The eleven states that seceded from the Union and formed the main part of the CSA were South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

The Confederacy was formed on February 8, 1861, by the seven secessionist slave states: South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas.[4] All seven of the states were located in the Deep South region of the United States, whose economy was heavily dependent upon agriculture—particularly cotton—and a plantation system that relied upon slaves of African descent for labor. Convinced that white supremacy and the institution of slavery were threatened by the November 1860 election of Republican candidate Abraham Lincoln to the U.S. presidency, on a platform which opposed the expansion of slavery into the western territories, the Confederacy declared its secession from the United States, with the loyal states becoming known as the Union during the ensuing American Civil War. In a speech known today as the Cornerstone Address, Confederate Vice President Alexander H. Stephens described its ideology as being centrally based "upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition". ✠

Lyrics:

Southern men the thunders mutter!
Northern flags in South winds flutter!
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!
Send them back your fierce defiance!
Stamp upon the cursed alliance!
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!

Advance the flag of Dixie! Hurrah! Hurrah!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!

In Dixie's land we take our stand, and live or die for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie

Fear no danger! Shun no labor!
Lift up rifle, pike, and saber!
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!
Shoulder pressing close to shoulder
Let the odds make each heart bolder!
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!

Advance the flag of Dixie! Hurrah! Hurrah!
In Dixie's land we take our stand, and live or die for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!

Swear upon your country's altar
Never to submit or falter--
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!
Till the spoilers are defeated
Till the Lord's work is completed!
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!

✠ The Blue Division was a unit of volunteers from Francoist Spain within the German Army (Wehrmacht) on the Eastern Front during World War II. It was officially designated the Spanish Volunteer Division by the Spanish Army and 250th Infantry Division (250 Infanterie-Division) by the Germans. ✠

Spain was ruled by an authoritarian regime under Francisco Franco installed in the Spanish Civil War (1936–39) with support from Nazi Germany. Franco chose to remain neutral in World War II but sympathised with the Axis powers. After lobbying by the Foreign Minister Ramón Serrano Suñer and senior figures within the Spanish Army, Franco agreed that Spanish people would be permitted to enlist privately in the German Army and agreed to provide tacit support. An infantry division was raised from Falangist and Army cadres and was sent for training in Germany. The unit participated in the Siege of Leningrad but was withdrawn from the Front after Spanish pressure in October 1943 and was returned to Spain soon afterwards. Several thousand non-returners were incorporated into the short-lived Blue Legion and eventually into the Waffen-SS.

Lyrics:

✠ This is the South African version of German original Erika. ✠

Lyrics:

Op die heideblom 'n mooie blommetjie
En haar naam, Erika
Is slegs myne ja, 'n duisend kere meer
Harte vier, Erika.

Want haar hart is vol van soetigheid
Daar 'n onontluikte blommekleed
Op die heideblom 'n mooie blommetjie
En haar naam, Erika.

In my kamertjie blom ook 'n blommetjie
En haar naam, Erika
Al met môredou so ook met awendgrou
Sien sy my, Erika.

En dan is dit so asof sy wil sê
Dink jy ook aan my, jou liewe bruid
In jou tuiste ween oor jou 'n meisie skoon
En haar naam, Erika.

✠ God Bless Australia was a proposed 1961 Australian national anthem by Australian songwriter Jack O'Hagan who provided patriotic lyrics to the traditional tune of Waltzing Matilda. ✠

Lyrics:

Here in this God given land of ours, Australia
This proud possession, our own piece of earth
That was built by our fathers, who pioneered our heritage,
Here in Australia, the land of our birth.

God bless Australia, Our land Australia,
Home of the Anzac, the strong and the free
It's our homeland, our own land,
To cherish for eternity,
God bless Australia, The land of the free.

Here in Australia, we treasure love and liberty,
Our way of life, all for one, one for all
We're a peace loving race, but should danger ever threaten us,
Let the world know we will answer the call

God bless Australia, Our land Australia,
Home of the Anzac, the strong and the free
It's our homeland, our own land,
To cherish for eternity,
God bless Australia, The land of the free.

✠ "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" "Hail to Thee in the Victor's Crown", was the official national anthem of the German Empire from 1871 to 1918.

Before the foundation of the Empire, it had been the royal anthem of Prussia since 1795 and remained it after 1871. The melody of the hymn derived from the British anthem "God Save the King". For these reasons, the song failed to become popular within all of Germany. Not only did it fail to win the support of most German nationalists, it was never recognized by the southern German states, such as Bavaria or Württemberg. After World War I, the German Empire came to an end and "Das Lied der Deutschen" became the national anthem of the Weimar Republic. ✠

Lyrics:

✠ Cara al Sol is the anthem of the Falange Española de las JONS. The lyrics were written in December 1935 and are usually credited to the leader of the Falange, José Antonio Primo de Rivera. The music was composed by Juan Tellería and Juan R. Buendia. The circumstances of its creation are unusual. The Falangists needed a stirring song of their own to counter the popular appeal of El Himno de Riego (the official anthem of the Second Spanish Republic) and A las Barricadas (a very popular Anarchist song). ✠

Lyrics:

Cara al sol con la camisa nueva
Que tú bordaste en rojo ayer,
Me hallará la muerte si me lleva
Y no te vuelvo a ver.

Arriba escuadras a vencer
Que en España empieza a amanecer
España, una! España, grande! España, libre!
Arriba España!

English:

Facing sunward proudly with my new shirt
That you embroidered in red
That's how death will take me
And I won't see you again

I will gather around my comrades
Who, as faithful warriors guard the heavens
With an impassive face
That represents our toil

And if I perish I'll know
That I'll return to my place

We will carry the banner of victory
At a greater step towards peace
And when you will lay five roses
In my yoke and arrows

Spring will laugh once again
Something yearned for by land and sea

Onwards squads to victory
For a new day dawns upon Spain
Spain, one ! Spain, great! Spain, free!
Onward Spain!

Lyrics:

English:

This video is one of my old videos, I haven't done a great job here, some of the lyrics does not match, but it's one of my old videos and I wanted to upload it.

Lyrics:

I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee
I'm going to Louisiana
My true love for to see
It rained all night
The day I left
The weather it was dry
The sun so hot
I froze to death
Susannah, don't you cry.

Oh! Susannah
Don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee.

I jump'd aboard the telegraph
And trabbeled down de ribber
De lectrie fluid magnified,
And kill'd five hundred cheer.
De bullgine bust, de hoss ran off,
I really thought I'd die.
I shut my eyes to hold my bref
Susannah, don't you cry.

Oh! Susannah
Don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee.

I had a dream the other night
When everything was still.
I thought I saw Susannah dear
A-coming down the hill.
The buckwheath was in her mouth,
The tear was in her eye.
So I said "I'm coming fro the south,
Susannah, don't you cry"

Oh! Susannah
Don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee.

I soon wil be in New Orleans,
And den I'll look around.
And when I find Susannah,
I fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find her,
Dis darkie 'I surley die,
And when I'm dead and buried,
Susannah, don't you cry.

Oh! Susannah
Don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee.

Oh! Susannah
Don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With a banjo on my knee.

✠ "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" "God Save Emperor Francis" was a personal anthem to Francis II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire, with lyrics by Lorenz Leopold Haschka (1749–1827) and music by Joseph Haydn. It is sometimes called the "Kaiserhymne" (Emperor's Hymn). Haydn's tune has since been widely employed in other contexts: in works of classical music, in Christian hymns, in alma maters, and as the tune of the "Deutschlandlied", the national anthem of Germany. ✠

Lyrics:

Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser,
Unsern guten Kaiser Franz,
Hoch als Herrscher, hoch als Weiser,
Steht er in des Ruhmes Glanz;
Liebe windet Lorbeerreiser
Ihm zum ewig grünen Kranz.
Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser,
Unsern guten Kaiser Franz!

Über blühende Gefilde
Reicht sein Zepter weit und breit;
Säulen seines Throns sind Milde,
Biedersinn und Redlichkeit,
Und von seinem Wappenschilde
Strahlet die Gerechtigkeit.
Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser,
Unsern guten Kaiser Franz!

Sich mit Tugenden zu schmücken,
Achtet er der Sorgen wert,
Nicht um Völker zu erdrücken
Flammt in seiner Hand das Schwert:
Sie zu segnen, zu beglücken,
Ist der Preis, den er begehrt,
Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser,
Unsern guten Kaiser Franz!

Er zerbrach der Knechtschaft Bande,
Hob zur Freiheit uns empor!
Früh’ erleb’ er deutscher Lande,
Deutscher Völker höchsten Flor,
Und vernehme noch am Rande
Später Gruft der Enkel Chor:
Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser,
Unsern guten Kaiser Franz!

English:

God save Emperor Francis,
Our good Emperor Francis,
High as a ruler, high as a sage,
He stands in fame’s glory;
Love twists laurel branches
Into an evergreen wreath for him.
God save Francis the Emperor,
Our good Emperor Francis!

Over flourishing realms
his scepter extends far and wide;
The pillars of his throne are gentleness,
Rectitude and probity,
And from his heraldic shield
Justice shines.
God save Francis the Emperor,
Our good Emperor Francis!

To adorn himself with virtues
He deems all worthy of concerns
Not to repress peoples
The sword in his hand flames:
To bless them, to delight them
Is the prize he desires,
God save Francis the Emperor,
Our good Emperor Francis!

He shattered the fetters of bondage
Lifted us aloft to freedom!
Soon may he witness
Highest bloom of German lands and German peoples
And may he still hear at the edge
Of a late tomb the grandchildren’s chorus:
God save Francis the Emperor,
Our good Emperor Francis!

✠ Gjergj Fishta 23 October 1871 – 30 December 1940) was an Albanian Franciscan friar, poet, educator, politician, rilindas, translator and writer. He is regarded as one of the most influential Albanian writers of the 20th century due to his epic masterpiece Lahuta e Malcís and the editor of two of the most autoritative magazines after Albania's independence, Posta e Shypniës and Hylli i Dritës.

Notably being the chairman of the commission of the Congress of Monastir, which sanctioned the Albanian alphabet. He was part of the Albanian delegation to the Versailles Conference, 1919. In 1921 he was a member and became the deputy chairman of the Albanian parliament, later on in the '20s and the '30s he was among the most influential cultural and literary figures in Albania. After the communist regime came to power, his literary oeuvre has been taken out of circulation, and it stayed so until the fall of communism. ✠

Lyrics:

Porsi fleta e Engjëllit t’Zotit
Like Gods Angel sheet
Po rreh flamuri I Shqipërisë
Albanian flag is waving
I thrret bijt e Kastriotit

Like two lightnings, that go burning
Bini Geg, bini malsor
Shout you Gegs, shout you mountainmans
Trima t’fort me dor, me dor
Strong braves with hand, with hand

Përmes flamurit t’vet shqiptari
Through his own flag the albanian
Kur rrok armët për t’drejtat t’veta
When he grabs his weapon for his rights
Atje lufta ndizet zjarri
There the war ignites to flame
Dhe armiku mbetet shkret
And the enemy get lost

Happy Albanian Indipendence Day

✠ Independent Albania was a parliamentary state declared in Vlorë (at the time part of Ottoman Empire) on 28 November 1912. Its assembly was constituted on the same day while its government and senate were established on 4 December 1912.

The delegation of Albania submitted a memorandum to the London Conference of 1913 requesting international recognition of independent Albania. At the beginning of the conference it was decided that the region of Albania would be under Ottoman suzerainty but with an autonomous government. The requests by the delegation for recognition based on the ethnic rights of Albanians were rejected and the treaty signed on 30 May 1913 partitioned a major part of the claimed lands between Serbia, Greece and Montenegro, leaving as independent territory only a central region, which was put under the protection of the Great Powers. The ambassadors of six Great Powers met again on 29 July 1913 and decided to constitute a new state, the Principality of Albania, as a constitutional monarchy. Finally, with the Treaty of Bucharest being signed in August 1913, this new independent state was established, leaving about 40% of the ethnic Albanian population outside its borders. ✠

✠ "Wha'll be King but Charlie?" also known as The News from Moidart, is a song about Bonnie Prince Charlie, sung to the tune of 'Tidy Woman', a traditional Irish jig the date of which is unclear but the tune was well known by 1745. The lyrics were written by Caroline Nairne (1766 – 1845).Because Nairne published anonymously, the authorship of this and her other poems and lyrics was once unclear, however, late in her life Nairne identified herself and modern scholars accept that these lyrics are hers. Carolina, Baroness Nairne was a Jacobite from a Jacobite family living at a time when the last remnants of political Jacobitism were fading as Scotland entered a period of Romantic nationalism and literary romanticism. Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed in the house where Caroline Nairne was born and reared when fleeing British capture after losing the Battle of Culloden. ✠

Lyrics:

Welcome to Scotland
Prince Charles Edwart Steuart

The news frae Moidart cam' yestreen
Will som gar mony ferlie
For ships o' war hae just come in
And landed Royal Charlie!

Come through the heather, around him gather

Come through the heather, around him gather
Come, Ronald, come Donald, come a' the gither

Around him cling wi' a' your kin
For wha'll be King but Charlie?

Come, Ronald, come Donald, come a' the gither
And crown your rightfu' lawfu' King!
For wha'll be King, but Charlie?

Lyrics:

E nell'ultima bianca carica

✠ "Farewell of Slavianka" ( Прощание славянки – Proshchaniye slavyanki) is a Russian patriotic march, written by the composer Vasily Agapkin in honour of the Slavic women accompanying their husbands in the First Balkan War. The march was written and premiered in Tambov in the end of 1912. In summer of 1915 it was released as a gramophone single in Kiev. Slavyanka means "Slavic woman". The melody gained popularity in Russia and adjoining countries during World War I, when the Russian soldiers left their homes accompanied by this music. This march was also used as an unofficial anthem of Admiral Kolchak's White Army.✠

Lyrics:

English:

Arise for faith, o Russian land!
We composed many a song in our heart,
Glorifying the native land.
We loved you no matter what,
You, our holy Russian land.
You raised your head high,
Your face was shining like the sun.
But you've become a victim of betrayal –
by those who have cheated and sold you!

And again in march trumpet calls us.
We all stand in order
And go to the holy battle.

Arise for faith, o Russian land!
The saints awaits Russia's victory.
Respond, o Orthodox host!
Where is your Ilya, where is your Dobrynya?
Mother Homeland is summoning her sons.
We will stand all together under the gonfalons.
And go, praying, as a procession,
For the right cause of Russia
We will shed Russian blood honestly.

And again in march trumpet calls us.
We all stand in order
And go to the holy battle.

Arise for faith, o Russian land!
We are all children of a great empire,
We all remember the commandments of our fathers:
For the Homeland, Honor, Glory,
Pity neither yourself nor the enemy.
Arise, Russia, from your prison of slavery,
Victory's spirit is called: time to do battle!
Rise your battle flags
For Faith, Love, and Good.

And again in march trumpet calls us.
We all stand in order
And go to the holy battle.

✠ Molitva Russkikh "The Prayer of Russians" as a song used as the national anthem of Imperial Russia from 1816 to 1833. After defeating the First French Empire, Tsar Alexander I of Russia recommended a national anthem for Russia. The lyrics were written by Vasily Zhukovsky, and the music of the British anthem "God Save the Queen" was used. ✠

Lyrics:

English:

God, save the Tsar!
To the glorious one, long days
Give on this earth!
To the subduer of the proud,
To the keeper of the weak
To the comforter of everyone,
Grant everything!

The land of the first throne,
Orthodox Rus',
God, do save!
(Make) her tsardom harmonious,
Calm in strength;
And everything unworthy
Drive away!

O Providence!
Blessing
Grant to us!
Aspiration to good,
Humility in happiness,
Patience in sorrow
Give on this earth!

Lyrics:

German English

Heil dir im Siegerkranz, - Hail to thee in the Victor's Wreath,
Herrscher des Vaterlands! - Ruler of the fatherland!
Heil, Kaiser, dir! - Hail to thee, emperor!
Fühl' in des Thrones Glanz - Feel by the splendor of the throne
Die hohe Wonne ganz, - The greatest joy fully
Liebling des Volks zu sein! - To be the favorite of the people!
Heil Kaiser, dir! - Hail to thee, emperor!

Nicht Roß nicht Reisige - Neither steed nor knight
Sichern die steile Höh', - Can secure the towering height,
Wo Fürsten steh'n: - Where princes stand:
Liebe des Vaterlands, - The Love of the fatherland,
Liebe des freien Manns - The Love of the free man,

Wie Fels im Meer. - Like a rock in the sea.

Heilige Flamme, glüh', Holy flame, glow,
Glüh' und erlösche nie Glow and never go out
Fürs Vaterland! For the fatherland!
Wir alle stehen dann We will all stand together
Mutig für einen Mann, Courageously for one man

✠ "The Maple Leaf Forever" is a Canadian song written by Alexander Muir (1830–1906) in 1867, the year of Canada's Confederation. He wrote the work after serving with the Queen's Own Rifles of Toronto in the Battle of Ridgeway against the Fenians in 1866. ✠

Lyrics:

In Days of yore,
From Britain's shore
Wolfe the dauntless hero came
And planted firm Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave,
Our boast, our pride
And joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

The Maple Leaf
Our Emblem Dear,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

Our fair Dominion now extends
From Cape Race to Nootka Sound
May peace forever be our lot
And plenty a store abound
And may those ties of love be ours
Which discord cannot sever
And flourish green for freedom's home
The Maple Leaf Forever.

The Maple Leaf
Our Emblem Dear,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

On merry England's far famed land
May kind heaven sweetly smile,
God bless old Scotland evermore
and Ireland's Em'rald Isle!
And swell the song both loud and long
Till rocks and forest quiver!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf
Our Emblem Dear,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

✠ "Le Boudin" , officially "Marche de la Légion Étrangère" , is the official march of the French Foreign Legion. "Le Boudin" is a reference to boudin, a type of blood sausage or black pudding. Le boudin colloquially meant the gear that used to be carried atop the backpacks of Legionnaires. The song relates the Legion's feat of arms in Tuyên Quang (1884–1885) and in Camerone (1863), the date of which (April 30) is celebrated as the Legion's anniversary. ✠

Lyrics:

ENGLISH

Hey, here's a meal o' wurst, here's a meal o' wurst, here's a meal o' wurst
For the Alsatian, Swiss, and Lorraine troops,
For the Belgians, ain't no more,
For the Belgians, ain't no more,
They're a bunch of ass shooters.
For the Belgians, ain't no more,
For the Belgians, ain't no more,
They're a bunch of ass shooters.

We are crafty,
We are rogues,
We are no ordinary men.
We often have our dark moods,
We are Legionnaires.
In Tonkin, the Immortal Legion
Honoured our flag at Tuyen Quang.
Heroes of Camarón and model brothers
Sleep in peace in your tombs.

Our ancestors knew to die
For the glory of the Legion.
We will know to perish
According to tradition.
During our far-off campaigns,
Facing fever and fire,
Let us forget, along with our hardships,
Death, which forgets us so little.
We the Legion.

✠ Boys of the Southern Cross was a popular song sung by New Zealand soldiers during the South African War.The South African War (also known as the Second Anglo-Boer War) was the first overseas conflict to involve New Zealand troops. Fought between the British Empire and the Boer South African Republic (Transvaal) and its Orange Free State ally, it was the culmination of long-standing tensions in southern Africa.Eager to display New Zealand's commitment to the British Empire, Premier Richard Seddon had offered to send troops two weeks before fighting began. Hundreds of men applied to serve, and by the time the war began in October 1899, the First Contingent was already preparing to depart for South Africa. Within a few months they would be fighting the Boers.By the time peace was concluded 2½ years later, 10 contingents of volunteers totalling more than 6500 men (plus 8000 horses) had sailed for South Africa, along with doctors, nurses, veterinary surgeons and about 20 schoolteachers. Seventy-one New Zealanders were killed in action or died of wounds, with another 159 dying in accidents or from disease. The South African War set the pattern for New Zealand’s later involvement in two world wars. Specially raised units which included many volunteers were despatched overseas to serve alongside forces from other parts of the British Empire. Their success in battle fostered the idea that New Zealanders were natural soldiers who needed little training to fight well. ✠

Lyrics:

We've heard about your trouble, Tom,
In rousting out the Boer;
You shall not fight out there alone
Amid the cannon's roar,
The blood that stirred our noble sires
To build up England's Fame,
Re-kindles in Colonial sons
Their prestige to maintain. For-

We are the boys of the Southern Cross
Our stars shine on our flags-
Emblazoned with the Union Jack,
To show we're Empire lads.

From storm-torn hills where tussocks wave,
And dells where tree-ferns grow;
From snow-capp'd peaks, and rock-bound coast,
We come,-to strike the blow.
Rest, British sons, till South-cross boys
Canadian brothers meet-
Then on we'll press, an Empire's strength,
And make the foe retreat. For-

We are the boys of the Southern Cross
Our stars shine on our flags-
Emblazoned with the Union Jack,
To show we're Empire lads.

If seditious traitors cross our path
And parley for the Vaal,
We'll hang them up at Kruger's-dorp-
Thus settle matters well.
We'll gather now the camp fire round,
And make the billy sing;
Be ready, boys, at bugle's call
To fight for stars and Queen. For-

We are the boys of the Southern Cross
Our stars shine on our flags-
Emblazoned with the Union Jack,
To show we're Empire lads.

With three cheers for the Empire loud;
And for the Queen,-Hurray!
We'll stick tight in our saddles, boys,
To drive the foe away;
When once again our land shall loom
And Kruger is no more,
Welcome we our native home-
And fair New Zealand's shore. For-

We are the boys of the Southern Cross
Our stars shine on our flags-
Emblazoned with the Union Jack,
To show we're Empire lads.

Lyrics:

You can bruise my pride
And bust my face
Scatter my rights
All over the place
And take the bread
From of my plate
But you can't break me!

Lock me out
Chain the gates
Put black shirts in
With dogs and mace
I'll hold the line
Won't step away
'Cause you can't break me!

I belong
You belong
We belong to the Union

Don't count me out
When I'm on the floor
We'll win again
We've won before
The streets will ring
With a mighty roar
'Cause you can't break me!

Stocks rise up
On workers' backs
Profits soar
While you hand out the sack
Boardroom bullies
Bloated and fat
But you can't break me!

Australia sold
To mates offshore
Backroom deals
And shonky law
The day has come
We say "No more!"
'Cause you can't break me!

I Belong
You belong
We belong to the Union
I belong
You belong
We belong to the Union

We won't turn away
If you dare us to fight
I swear
I'll never lay down and die

I'm in the union mate
Got a right to belong
We'll be back
Millions strong
Women and men
United as one
'Cause you can't break me!

There's a warning here
To the men in grey
The pipers come
It's time to pay
We're taking back
What you stole away
Cause you can't break me!

I belong
You belong
We belong to the Union
I belong
You belong
We belong to the Union

I belong
You belong
We belong to the Union

Happy New Year
✠ "The British Grenadiers" is a traditional marching song of British, Australian and Canadian military units whose badge of identification features a grenade, the tune of which dates from the 17th century. It is the Regimental Quick March of the Royal Artillery (since 1716), Corps of Royal Engineers (since 1787), the Honourable Artillery Company (since 1716), Grenadier Guards 'The First (later 'Grenadier') Regiment of Foot Guards' (since 1763), and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (since 1763). It is also an authorised march of The Royal Gibraltar Regiment, The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, The Canadian Grenadier Guards, The Royal Regiment of Canada, The Princess Louise Fusiliers, and The 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles. The standard orchestration for the military band was approved during 1762, when the Royal Artillery Band (initiated during 1557) became recognised officially, and for all other 'grenade' regiments during 1763, when the remaining unofficial bands gained official status. ✠

Lyrics:

Some talk of Alexander, and some of Hercules
Of Hector and Lysander, and such great names as these.
But of all the world's brave heroes, there's none that can compare.
With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, to the British Grenadiers.
Those heroes of antiquity ne'er saw a cannon ball,
Or knew the force of powder to slay their foes withal.
But our brave boys do know it, and banish all their fears,
With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, for the British Grenadiers.

Then let us fill a bumper, and drink a health of those
Who carry caps and pouches, and wear the loupèd clothes.
May they and their commanders live happy all their years.
With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, for the British Grenadiers.

✠ "Dixie", also known as "Dixie's Land", "I Wish I Was in Dixie", and other titles, is a popular song in the Southern United States. It is one of the most distinctively Southern musical products of the 19th century and probably the best-known song to have come out of blackface minstrelsy. It was not a folk song at its creation, but it has since entered the American folk vernacular. The song likely cemented the word "Dixie" in the American vocabulary as a nickname for the Southern United States. Most sources credit Ohio-born Daniel Decatur Emmett with the song's composition, although other people have claimed credit, even during Emmett's lifetime. Compounding the problem are Emmett's own confused accounts of its writing and his tardiness in registering its copyright. The latest challenge has been made on behalf of the Snowden Family Band of Knox County, Ohio, who may have collaborated with Emmett to write "Dixie".

"Dixie" had originated in the minstrel shows of the 1850s and quickly became popular throughout the United States. During the American Civil War, it was adopted as a de facto national anthem of the Confederacy. New versions appeared at this time that more explicitly tied the song to the events of the Civil War.

The song was a favorite of President Abraham Lincoln; he had it played at some of his political rallies and at the announcement of General Robert E. Lee's surrender. Early recordings of the song include band versions by Issler's Orchestra (ca.1895), Gilmore's Band (1896) and the Edison Grand Concert Band (1896) and a vocal version by George J. Gaskin (1896). This song is sung by 2nd South Carolina String Band. ✠

Lyrics:

Well, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land
In Dixie's Land, where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land

And I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

Ole Missus marry "Will the Weaver"
William was a gay deceiver
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land
And when he put his arms around 'er
'Smiled fierce as a forty pounder
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land

And I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver
But that did not seem to grieve 'er
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land
But Ole Missus acted the foolish part
And died for a man that broke her heart
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land

And I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

Now here's to the health of the next Ole Missus
An' all the gals that want to kiss us
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land
And if you want to drive away sorrow
Come and hear our song tomorrow
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land

And I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

There's buckwheat cakes and Injun batter
Makes you fat or a little fatter
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land
Then hoe it down and scratch your gravel
To Dixie's Land I'm bound to travel
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land

And I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

Well, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land
In Dixie's Land, where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land

And I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south, in Dixie

✠ The "Battle Hymn of the Republic", also known as "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory" outside of the United States, is a lyric by the abolitionist writer Julia Ward Howe using the music from the song "John Brown's Body". Howe's more famous lyrics were written in November 1861 and first published in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. The song links the judgment of the wicked at the end of the age (through allusions to biblical passages such as Isaiah 63 and Revelation 19) with the American Civil War. It is an extremely popular and well-known American patriotic song. ✠

Lyrics:

Mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage
Where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning
Of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watchfires
Of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar
In the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence
By the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet
That shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men
Before His judgement seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him;
Be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have read His fiery gospel
writ in rows of burnished steel!
"As ye deal with my condemners,
so with you My grace shall deal!
Let the Hero, born of woman,
crush the serpent with his heel, "
Since God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom
That transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy,
Let us die to make men free;
While God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

✠ The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise preemptive military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service upon the United States (a neutral country at the time) against the naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. The attack led to the United States' formal entry into World War II the next day. The Japanese military leadership referred to the attack as the Hawaii Operation and Operation AI, and as Operation Z during its planning.

Japan intended the attack as a preventive action to keep the United States Pacific Fleet from interfering with its planned military actions in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States. Over the course of seven hours there were coordinated Japanese attacks on the U.S.-held Philippines, Guam and Wake Island and on the British Empire in Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

The attack commenced at 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time (18:18 GMT). The base was attacked by 353 Imperial Japanese aircraft (including fighters, level and dive bombers, and torpedo bombers) in two waves, launched from six aircraft carriers. All eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, with four sunk. All but USS Arizona were later raised, and six were returned to service and went on to fight in the war. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one minelayer. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed; 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 others were wounded. Important base installations such as the power station, dry dock, shipyard, maintenance, and fuel and torpedo storage facilities, as well as the submarine piers and headquarters building (also home of the intelligence section) were not attacked. Japanese losses were light: 29 aircraft and five midget submarines lost, and 64 servicemen killed. One Japanese sailor, Kazuo Sakamaki, was captured.
Remember Pearl Harbor was a slogan or saying popular in the United States after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Commander Lewis Preston Harris first coined the phrase "Remember Pearl Harbor".

It was also the name of a song by artist Sammy Kaye, sometimes cited as "Let's Remember Pearl Harbor," recorded ten days after the outbreak of the war.

Another song of the same title was written by Frank Luther and performed by Carson J. Robison and his orchestra, recorded on Bluebird Records. A simple marching tune seeking to rile up patriotic fervor as part of American propaganda during World War II, the mostly tame song also contains a remarkable section of vehement xenophobic and racist exhortation. ✠

Lyrics:

History in ev'ry century
Records an act that lives forevermore
We'll recall, as in to line we fall
The thing that happened on Hawaii's shore

Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we go to meet the foe
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we did the Alamo

We will always remember
How they died for liberty
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
And go on to victory

Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we go to meet the foe
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we did the Alamo

We will always remember
How they died for liberty
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
And go on to victory

Lyrics:

Rreth flamurit të përbashkuar
Me një dëshirë e një qëllim,
Të gjith' atij duke u betuar
Të lidhim besën për shpëtim.
Prej lufte veç ai largohet
Që është lindur tradhëtor,
Kush është burrë nuk frikohet,
Por vdes, por vdes si një dëshmor!

Prej lufte veç ai largohet
Që është lindur tradhëtor,
Kush është burrë nuk frikohet,
Por vdes, por vdes si një dëshmor!

Në dorë armët do t'i mbajmë,
Të mbrojmë atdheun në çdo kënd,
Të drejtat tona ne s'i ndajmë;
Këtu armiqtë s'kanë vënd!
Se Zoti vetë e tha me gojë
Që kombe shuhen përmbi dhe,
Po Shqipëria do të rrojë;
Për të, për të luftojmë ne!

Se Zoti vetë e tha me gojë
Që kombe shuhen përmbi dhe,
Po Shqipëria do të rrojë;
Për të, për të luftojmë ne!

English:

Around our flag we stand united,
With one wish and one goal,
A sacred oath we bestow upon it
Proclaiming loyalty for our salvation.
𝄆 From war abstains only he,
Who a traitor is born,
He who is a true man is not frightened,
But dies a martyr to the cause. 𝄇[a]

With weapons in our hands a-brandished,
We will defend our fatherland,
Our sacred rights we’ll not relinquish,
The foe has no place in our land.
𝄆 For God himself proclaimed:
Some nations of the earth shall wane,
But Albania will live, will thrive Albania.
For her, for her we fight. 𝄇

O Flag, flag, you sacred symbol
Upon you we now swear
For Albania, our dear fatherland
For honour and your glory.
𝄆 Brave man is named and honoured
The one who sacrificed himself for the fatherland
Forever he will be remembered
On earth and under as a saint!

✠ "Advance Australia Fair" is the national anthem of Australia. Created by the Scottish-born composer Peter Dodds McCormick, the song was first performed in 1878 and sung in Australia as a patriotic song. It replaced "God Save the Queen" as the official national anthem in 1984, following a plebiscite to choose the national song in 1977. Other songs and marches have been influenced by "Advance Australia Fair", such as the Australian vice-regal salute. ✠

Lyrics:

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We've golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

✠ 'O Canada' is the national anthem of Canada. The song was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony; Calixa Lavallée composed the music, after which, words were written by the poet and judge Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The original lyrics were in French; an English translation was published in 1906. Multiple English versions ensued, with Robert Stanley Weir's version in 1908 gaining the most popularity, eventually serving as the basis for the official lyrics enacted by Parliament. Weir's lyrics have been revised three times, most recently when An Act to amend the National Anthem Act (gender) was enacted in 2018. The French lyrics remain unaltered. "O Canada" had served as a de facto national anthem since 1939, officially becoming the country's national anthem in 1980 when Canada's National Anthem Act received royal assent and became effective on July 1 as part of that year's Dominion Day (today's Canada Day) celebrations. ✠

Lyrics:

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western sea.
Thou land of hope for all who toil!
Thou True North, strong and free!

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies
May stalwart sons, and gentle maidens rise,
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From East to Western sea.
Our own beloved native land!
Our True North, strong and free!

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our Dominion within thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the better Day,
We ever stand on guard.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Lyrics:

Allons enfants de la Patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'étendard sanglant est levé, (bis)
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats ?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes !

Aux armes, citoyens,
Formez vos bataillons,
Marchons, marchons !
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons !

Amour sacré de la Patrie,
Conduis, soutiens nos bras vengeurs
Liberté, Liberté chérie,
Combats avec tes défenseurs ! (bis)
Sous nos drapeaux que la victoire
Accoure à tes mâles accents,
Que tes ennemis expirants
Voient ton triomphe et notre gloire !

Aux armes, citoyens,
Formez vos bataillons,
Marchons, marchons !
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons !

Tremblez, tyrans et vous perfides
L'opprobre de tous les partis,
Tremblez ! vos projets parricides
Vont enfin recevoir leurs prix ! (bis)
Tout est soldat pour vous combattre,
S'ils tombent, nos jeunes héros,
La terre en produit de nouveaux,
Contre vous tout prêts à se battre !

Aux armes, citoyens,
Formez vos bataillons,
Marchons, marchons !
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons !

✠ God Defend New Zealand is one of two national anthems of New Zealand, the other being "God Save the Queen". Legally the two have equal status, but "God Defend New Zealand" is more commonly used. Originally written as a poem, it was set to music as part of a competition in 1876. Over the years its popularity increased, and it was eventually named the second national anthem in 1977. It has English and Māori lyrics, with slightly different meanings. Since the late 1990s, the usual practice when performed in public is to perform the first verse of the national anthem twice, first in Māori and then in English. ✠

Lyrics:

Maori:

E Ihowā Atua,
O Lord, God,

O ngā iwi mātou rā
Of all people

Āta whakarangona;
Listen to us,

Me aroha noa
Cherish us

Kia hua ko te pai;
May good flourish,

Kia tau tō atawhai;
May your blessings flow

Manaakitia mai Aotearoa
Defend Aotearoa

English:

God of Nations at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
Hear our voices, we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand.

Men of every creed and race,
Gather here before Thy face,
Asking Thee to bless this place,
God defend our free land.
From dissension, envy, hate,
And corruption guard our state,
Make our country good and great,
God defend New Zealand.

Peace, not war, shall be our boast,
But, should foes assail our coast,
Make us then a mighty host,
God defend our free land.
Lord of battles in Thy might,
Put our enemies to flight,
Let our cause be just and right,
God defend New Zealand.

Let our love for Thee increase,
May Thy blessings never cease,
Give us plenty, give us peace,
God defend our free land.
From dishonour and from shame,
Guard our country's spotless name,
Crown her with immortal fame,
God defend New Zealand.

May our mountains ever be
Freedom's ramparts on the sea,
Make us faithful unto Thee,
God defend our free land.
Guide her in the nations' van,
Preaching love and truth to man,
Working out Thy glorious plan,
God defend New Zealand.

✠ "God Save the Queen" (alternatively "God Save the King", depending on the gender of the reigning monarch) is the royal anthem of U.K and a number of Commonwealth realms, their territories, and the British Crown dependencies. The author of the tune is unknown, and it may originate in plainchant; but an attribution to the composer John Bull is sometimes made. ✠

Lyrics:

God save our gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God save the Queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the Queen

O Lord our God arise
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall
Confound their politics
Frustrate their knavish tricks
On Thee our hopes we fix
God save us all.

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen.
