While we’re used to seeing people usually bonding with dogs or felines or farm animals, this incredibly strange friendship between a scuba diver and a fish puzzles everyone. And, as if it isn’t unusual enough, these 2 uncommon buddies have shared this unique friendship for over 25 years.
It started several years earlier, when the Japanese diver Hiroyuki Arakawa was designated to manage a ‘torii’– a sacred shrine to the Shinto religion. However this had not been like any other ‘torii’ as it stands beneath the surface area of Tateyama Bay in Japan. In light of its spiritual importance, Hiroyuki needed to dive frequently in order to check for maintenance problems. Since he kept doing it for many years, the man ended up knowing the marine animals that live there. Particularly a wrasse fish the diver has named "Yoriko" with whom he shares a close friendship.
Even though it sounds quite peculiar, Hiroyuki and Yoriko are getting along exceptionally well. And despite how incredible a friendship between a person and fish, apparently scientific research even has a description for this. It seems that fish might in fact recognize human faces.
”Researchers offered the fish two pictures of human faces and encouraged them to pick one by spitting their jets at that photo,” Dr. Cait Newport from Oxford University. “The researchers determined to make points a little clearer. They took the pictures and made black and white prints. You‘d assume that would throw the fish for a loop. But no, they had the ability to pick the familiar face with 86% accuracy.”

Today I would like to look at the mythologies and especially the myth of a figure from Greek mythology. This figure is called Erichthonios and I first tell the description:
“Erichthonios (Greek Ἐριχθόνιος) is one of the kings of Attica in Greek mythology. Erichthonios of Attica is also called Erechtheus I. There is another significant figure in Greek mythology with the name Erichthonios >>.
The parenting of Erichthonios is not passed down unanimously. It is, however, the case that at that time the Gaia >> often created figures out of herself. Mostly Erichthonios is described as being earth-born. See also Ovid >>, where Erichthonios is called "prolem sine matre creatam". This means "offspring born without a mother".
The figure of Erichthonios was a hybrid between man and snake.
Athene >> received Erichthonios from Gaia and took care of his care. She put Erichthonios in a box - and this box was to be guarded by the daughters of Kekrops I >>. The daughters of Kekrops I are called Pandrosos, Herse and Aglauros >>. They were forbidden to open this box and look inside. Herse and Aglauros did it anyway and found the child in the form of a snake. Then Athena took this box with the baby Erichthonios into her own care.
When Erichthonios grew up, he became king of the Attica region with the capital Athens >>. Erichthonios gained the royal throne by driving Amphictyon.
We are talking about a tragedy called Medea. The poet Euripides is said to have written this tragedy in 431 BC. Euripes is known as one of the great classical Greek playwrights with the date * 480 BC. BC or 485/484 BC On Salamis >>; † 406 BC In Pella.
According to the aforementioned tragedy, the Athenians proudly called themselves "Sons of Erichthonios" - after he became king.
It is said that Erichthonios married a nymph >> with the name Praxithea. It is reported by a son of Praxithea and Erichthonios with the name Pandion. After Erichthonios this Pandion became king of Attica.
Erichthonios is said to have set up the Panathenaic Games in Athens. These games are passed down as the largest political-religious festival in Athens, in honor of Athena.
In this context, Erichthonios is said to have invented the wheel because he himself had no legs to walk with the lower body of a snake. Erichthonios invented the wheel for a wagon pulling him. After Poseidon >> Erichthonios had killed, his soul was transferred to the sky as a constellation carter.
The body of Erichthonios was buried in the sanctuary of Athena on the Acropolis >>. The resting place of Erichthonios with the name Erechtheion is passed down.”
In the mythologies and religions of this world one very often speaks of hybrid beings. It is also very often said that the souls of these beings were transferred to the heavens by the gods after their physical death.
The mythologies and religions of this world did not arise out of a joke and must also be viewed as a total package.
Transvestigation is often mentioned on the Internet. I wonder, however, whether there really are hybrids of all kinds. For example lion / human, snake / human, fish / human, bird / human, bear / human, etc. In this case, transvestigation does not help, because nobody knows what the anatomy of such hybrid beings is like.

An arrangement for the usual Piano Quintet line-up of the popular Trout Quintet, this being the fourth movement of the Piano Quintet in A, D.667, Op.114.
Why the unusual arrangement in the first place?
Rather than the usual piano quintet lineup of piano and string quartet, the Trout Quintet was written for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. The composer Johann Hummel had rearranged his own Septet for this combination and the Trout was written for the group of musicians coming to play Hummel's work.

When we find ourselves wrestling with feelings of insufficiency, focusing on what we lack instead of what we have, there is a lesson in the account of Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes. When we yield our little to Him, He is able to bless it, break it and multiply it, turning our insufficiency into something sufficient. Just like the disciples, we can make the mistake of forgetting the times in the past when the Lord has seen us through when we should have faith that His sufficiency will always be enough.

I bought this fish and bubble display for my mother as a Christmas gift and while in the process of trying to find an appropriate place to put it, I ended up straining some back muscles by continually picking it up. A few painful chiropractic visits ensued. Lesson learned: Best to find a spot for it first and then fill it up with water. Since the display hardly gets used in the house (makes too much 60 cycle hum) I figured I'd at least commemorate it with some video. The little guitar piece (a slight variation on the Dexter / Tabacco song "5 Sub. Notebook") seemed mellow enough to use as background music. In essence this video was just a way to kill some time in this isolated situation I have found myself in due to Covid-19.

This is Beyond the Clear Walls, a new series aiming to focus on aquarium fish species outside the confines of the aquarium, hence the title. Here I talk about the algae eater family Gyrinocheilidae, a tiny family of fishes related to carps and loaches. They suck, literally! In this video, I make a cast of the inside of a fish skull with molten aluminum. I caught this 29 lb black drum a few years ago off the coast of Dauphin Island, Alabama in the Gulf of Mexico. I've had the skull displayed on a cabinet in my shop for a few years and recently thought it might be cool to cast it in molten aluminum.
Hopefully, it's clear in the video what I'm doing and why but if not, here is a detailed explanation:
I can't just pour aluminum into the skull without preparations because it would spill out of the eye sockets and other openings. In order to prevent that from happening, I'm going to encase the skull in plaster before casting. That presents a new problem, because the plaster would fill the skull and leave nothing to cast with aluminum.
To get around these problems, I sealed off all of the exterior openings with tape, except for the spinal cord opening which will be where the aluminum flows in. Then the skull is filled with wax. The solidified wax acts as a barrier to keep the plaster out of the skull.
Next, the tape is removed and the skull is encased in plaster which will keep the aluminum from bursting through the skull while the it hardens. The plaster mold is then placed into an oven to remove the wax, and as much moisture as possible. You can see in the video that there was still a bit of moisture in the plaster which is why it bubbles so much.
After the wax is removed the aluminum is poured in.
I was actually surprised that this worked so well. I wasn't sure if the skull would burn up too quickly and ruin the cast. It worked though. The coolest part is the brain cavity, which has two circular loops jutting out. Check it out on the website if you can't see it well in the video:
Nearby neighbors did a little dock repair at their stocked fish pond. They also owned a small white house that was falling apart and they finished taking it down. Did a little shooting with shotgun / handgun and a little bit of yard work.
What an adventure my friends. This is a super tasty dish to make and an unusual way of baking a wild #bass fish.
Except for the peeps from the #French Atlantic coast : this is a specialty there. And they use the salt of Guérande to make it even better.
Firstly, I slap the bass - because I can - then I fill this wild whitefish up with fresh #herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary) and pepper corns.
Secondly, I'll cover it with a crust of coarse sea salt, seal it and bake it for 45 minutes.
