I was originally going to go for 60 Kgs for reps as my top set. However, I noted that my last warm-up set of 52.5 Kgs was feeling heavier than usual, and I was feeling significantly less energetic; most likely due to carryover fatigue from last weeks 1 Rep Maxing work. So I decided to dial the weights for my Training Max back (I will probably do it for everything else as well, to be safe), while focusing on working towards progressing still, mainly with strict paused reps. If I hadn't been already tired from the 52.5 Kg set, which was so close in eeight to this, and was feeling better overall today, I think I definitely could have hit a couple or so more reps. So, with all things considered, I am not disappointed with how this turned out. I could have even grinded out another one here, I think; but I decided to take it easy, and not risk going to failure/close to failure, as much as I can.

I was originally thinking of going for 185 Kgs, today. However my last set at 90 percent was a bit off and wonky, which sabotaged me, a bit. My unracking, and cues were off, and I descended a bit too quickly, which threw me off, and made my lower back feel slightly funky. So, after some deliberation, I decided to play it safe, and go for 182.5 Kgs, instead. I definitely think this was the right call, because I don't think I had much more in me than this, today! Hahaha. Holy cow, what a grinder! My head felt like it was going to split for a bit, after that rep. I think I potentially have a little more in me, on a better day, but I will take the 2.5 kg PR for now! 🤟🏻

I have been pondering this for a while, and I have decided that in light of my current bench pressing slump, I am going to switch to doing strictly paused benching, at least for the foreseeable future. So not only for my accessory lifts, which I already do, but also for my working, and top sets. This should hopefully contribute to strengthening my overall technique, and performance, thus make me stronger fundamentally, in the future. So the weights will obviously be dialed back a bit. That's okay, though! I am looking forward to it. Sometimes taking some steps back is necessary to make leaps forward in the future 🤟🏻

Despite failing to reach my goal of hitting a 117.5 Kgs touch and go 1 Rep Max, I resolved to end the day on a high note. The most I have attempted for a paused rep previously was 100 kilos (I suppose I have also done a 100 kg paused Larsen Press, but whatever), so this is technically a five kilo PR. It ain't much, or too impressive, but hey, a PR is a PR, and can end the day knowing I raised the bar a little higher in something. I'll get there, in the end! 🤟🏻

Man, I was feeling so good, today! I was feeling motivated and energetic, and felt that I had at least 117.5 kilos in me. However, the bench slump continues on! I think if I was not in this rut that I have been in for the past few weeks (I was on a rolll with bench, before!) I definitely could have hit this. I failed once before this attempt, and it was not very pretty, haha. However, this attempt went MUCH better. I sincerely thought I had it, but I JUST couldn't lock it out! If I had an assist with the unracking, I think there was a good chance I could have completed it. I was debating on giving it a third try, as I felt way better than after the first attempt, but I decided not to push my luck too much, as I still want to try and go for a squat PR this week. I'll get there, eventually! 🤟🏻

Definitely not feeling at peak strength, as leg drive, and overall muscle cues/connection felt a bit weak today. However, this went okay! Slow off the floor, but that is how it is, for me. Once I got it past the knees, it felt pretty smooth. I thought the floor busted a bit upon putting it down, but it's all good! Just a small wood chip from the surface of the floor flew off, hahahaha. I will Definitely need to get some rubber tiles soon.

Feelin' better after my deload. I don't think I feel at peak strength, but certainly better than last week. I am very pleased that I could redeem my failure from last week, and score a new 1 Rep Max PR! Sure, not the cleanest rep, but hey, it's a 1RM test. I briefly debated trying for 80 Kgs, but as I said, I don't think I feel quite at full strength, so I think there is a good chance I would not have made it, and I want to save my energy for the rest of the attempts this week, especially since deadlift is tomorrow. So I decided to call the session there. No accessory lifts, just 1 RM set, and done. Going to try and save as much fuel as possible for the days ahead 🤟🏻

I was hoping to do a One Rep Max Test this week, depending on how I was feeling. I decided to try and go for a 77.5 Kgs Overhead Press PR, but it became clear as I got through my warm-ups that I was definitely fatigued, and was not feeling as strong and explosive as I would, if I was more fresh. Against my better judgement, I decided to go for it anyway, because I felt even if I was tired, I could still hit it, and I VERY nearly did. It was SUPER CLOSE, and during the rep, I really thought I was going to get it; but alas, my fatigue has caught up with me, and I couldn't quite make it. So I have decided that it is the smart thing to deload this week, and hopefully I can come back fresher soon, and CRUSH IT. Deloads are boring though, so don't expect any lifting vids this week. I will try and pump out some other style of vids this week if/when I can. Otherwise, Till Next week! 🤟🏻
