This is a clip taken from my Block 1: Week 4 Comp Deadlift session. You can view the whole training session on my channel. Definitely have a lot more in me with this exercise, but I am of course not trying to completely destroy myself with these, haha. Mostly focusing on speed, and explosiveness with the lockout, and to try and carry that over to my conventional deadlift. I'll probably push these around 2.5 Kgs (maybe 5, if I am feeling really good every week, if possible to be safe. I'd love to eventually be able to hit 140 Kgs for 3x10-12 reps, someday. That'll be a sign of some good posterior chainz gainz.

Welcome to month six of Renaissance Year. I almost wrote "chaos year" but we already did that. We start our Philly Fitness program today easing us into Summer Sculpting. Just 20 days til summer? Is that right? The aim is running, leg building and abs, with some pull ups, dips and pushups also. That should shred some stubborn belly fat. I can see the arms becoming leaner, belly too. Just not super fast.
It is what it is.
We have an exciting throwback today. I actually did a tourist thing in Penang that I forget about. This "lost footage" is a lovely testament to the area.
Coming back to the hometown conjures questions I have for myself, but I cannot keep them from you. Ha ha.
Maybe we'll do longer episodes this summer?

Was feeling a bit tired and run down, and I could tell I wasn't feeling at my best. However, this is the last week of this block, so I committed to going for the prescribed goal today, and giving it my all. Top Set was not as pretty and smooth I would have liked it to be; but hey, it is an all-time PR, and I was not on my A game, so I can let it slide a bit. I was completely trashed afterwards, though. I had to drop the weight quite a bit for my back-off sets, because I was just totally pooched, and each one felt like absolute grinders. I did manage to snag another PR with Romanian Deadlifts though, as well. I'll probably play it safer from here on out, and do 2.5 Kg bumps, so I don't risk potentially overextending myself, or god forbid, overtaxing my lower back. I know I still have a lot more to give, but I gotta pace myself, too! All in due time. Milestone goal for me is to hit 140 Kgs for sets and reps, which would be awesome. One step at a time.

Despite fighting some wrist pain/discomfort, this went quite well, I think. My 110 Kgs x 3 Paused Bench Press is also an all-time PR, in terms of weight for reps lifted, so that is also awesome.

This is a clip taken from my recent Paused Deadlift and Tempo Bench Press Session (Block 1: Week 3). This is my first time ever going fairly heavy with Hook-Grip, and it went much better than expected. I'm hoping to keep pushing with this grip style, work out the kinks, and quite possibly, eventually change to Hook-Grip as my main grip for Deadlift. Excited to see where this goes!

I remembered to bring my chalk this time, so I got to get some solid Hook Grip training in, today. Forgot my speaker, though 😩. I figured finally dipping in to Hook Grip Practice can be a nice way to regulate my training loads/RPE, for deadlift accessory work so I work with perhaps a bit less weight, while still challenging myself, and getting good work in. I think once I get a hang of it, and my thumbs build a good tolerance to it, I can start pushing it even harder. This overall went very well; better than expected. I was going to shoot for 170 Kgs, which would have been cake with mixed grip, judging how easy 165 moved with hook, but I decided to play it safe, as I have very very little experience with hook, and I am pretty sure the most I have ever done before this with hook grip is about 120 Kgs lol, as I basically have only practiced it every now and then with warm up weights. I think I could have easily done 170 today with Hook Grip as well, judging by how easy 165 moved. I didn't want to pull an Icarus and get too overconfident though, and risk tearing my thumbs, hahaha. I may very well transition to Hook Grip in the future, once I work out the kinks. We'll see! 🤘🏻
