This an alternate method for changing G8 brake pads for those who don't want to remove the caliper guide pins. There is another way which you may find easier but I have always done this by removing the entire caliper (bracket and all) at once.
I also could not get the pads on without removing the relief clips (regardless of whether I used the more common method of leaving caliper bracket on the rotor or not), so they were removed, and the car stops fine. The relief clips give the caliper a quicker bite but due to some design flaw, I could not get the pads inside of the clips. I tried mounting the bracket back on the rotor and using the method that most people use and the clearance from the relief clips was even worse. I'm not racing mine so it shouldn't be an issue.
The spanner wrench was not used for front but you may find it useful for the rear when the caliper bolt is almost completely removed as the socket will not have enough clearance around the brake line to remove the bolt (at least for me anyway).
