Jimi Hendrix meets the Doors in this remake of the classic "Riders on the Storm". If you ever wondered what the Doors would sound like with Jimi Hendrix on Guitar then look no further. With Vietnam War documentary footage.
Our cover of this classic (album version) was inspired by the vibe of an old Jimi Hendrix bootleg album called `9 to the Universe` that was made of a Jam in a basement and also featured a keyboard player.

Lyrics -
"Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand
Yeah

'Cause I'm a voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child, baby

I want to say one more last thing

I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back to you one of these days, hahaha
I said I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back one of these days
Oh yeah
If I don't meet you no more in this world, then
I'll meet you in the next one
And don't be late
Don't be late

'Cause I'm a voodoo child, voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child, baby

I'm a voodoo child, baby
I don't take no for an answer
Question no
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child, baby"

The Charlie Miranda Experience plays a Tribute to Jimi Hendrix

Including renditions of Hey Joe, Red House, Foxy Lady, Voodoo Chile, and an excerpt of Purple Haze all shot on a beautiful day at Venice Beach. The video is one long camera take while the music is playing and the audio is unretouched, or overdubbed.

I was scheduled for overtime work that Sunday afternoon and went to the beach instead. As I got there, Charlie Miranda was performing and I shot this video. After a little more sun, I ended up going to work anyway, and no one said anything.

This music performance is great and I still love listening to it.

An instrumental cover of the Jimi Hendrix/Bob Dylan song.

Probably the best instrumental of this song ever made. This guy is amazing.
Go to his YouTube page and read about the gear he played to make this song

I make no money from this and I have no connection to anyone involved in making the video. I posted this purely in the name of art. (I made the cover photo by taking a still frame from a film of Jimi Hendrix performing live. I chose this frame because of the expression in Hendrix's face.)

The director's cut of the documentary chronicling the highlights from Woodstock, the once-in-a-lifetime gathering of rock's greatest stars and Earth's most blissed-out peaceniks. Those performing at the seminal 1969 rock festival included the Who, Santana, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Jimi Hendrix. The original film won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

The three-day Woodstock music festival in 1969 was the pivotal event of the 1960s peace movement, and this landmark concert film is the definitive record of that milestone of rock 'n' roll history. It's more than a chronicle of the hippie movement, however; this is a film of genuine historical and social importance, capturing the spirit of America in transition, when the Vietnam War was at its peak and antiwar protest was fully expressed through the liberating music of the time. With a brilliant crew at his disposal (including a young editor named Martin Scorsese), director Michael Wadleigh worked with over 300 hours of footage to create his original 225-minute director's cut, which was cut by 40 minutes for the film's release in 1970. Eight previously edited segments were restored in 1994, and the original director's cut of Woodstock is now the version most commonly available on videotape and DVD.
The film deservedly won the Academy Award for Best Documentary, and it's still a stunning achievement. Abundant footage taken among the massive crowd ("half a million strong") expresses the human heart of the event, from skinny-dipping hippies to accidental overdoses, to unpredictable weather, mid-concert childbirth, and the thoughtful (or just plain rambling) reflections of the festive participants. Then, of course, there is the music--a non-stop parade of rock 'n' roll from the greatest performers of the period, including Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Canned Heat, The Who, Richie Havens, Joan Baez, Ten Years After, Sly & The Family Stone, Santana, and many more. Watching this ambitious film, as the saying goes, is the next best thing to being there--it's a time-travel journey to that once in a lifetime event.
