This main event to commemorate our 80th anniversary of the victory in the historic Battle of Stalingrad was held over 2 days from 1st to the 2nd of February 2023. Volgograd for several times each year legally reverts to her previous name Stalingrad just as also on this very solemn anniversary date.
You will see optically rendered historical and patriotic themed light shows projected over the "Bridge of Memory". Episodes 40 & 56 of LOGH. Considered by many the best anime of all time. The series has prescient scenes sparsed through its 110 episode run. These episodes serve as a retelling of the history in the universe of the anime. It's clear how the writers used parallels from our history to make a foundational lore in which this anime takes place. I found these two episodes the best filler out any anime out there as it attempts to explain the systems of government (republics, democracy, loss of sovereignty, dictatorships, etc.) put in place by constructing a future history.
I cannot recommend this anime enough. It is criminally overlooked and foresaw a lot of predicaments that we're going through. A lot of it (too much of it) aged really well, like many other great works ahead of their time. If you have the time or are craving top tier media, go watch it! Who are these young and faceless individuals, morned by their spouses and mothers, that are being robbed of their future as their fates are being sealed and turned into statistics in one of the endless and pointless geopolitical games that have been fought throughout history and that are still being played for wealth and power by their state and our world leaders?
It is a conundrum to me how sovereign and modern nation-states that are governed by the rule of law are still capable of sanctioning the murder of citizens that belong to a foreign state. Unless we are talking about soldiers that have volunteered or mercenaries that are having it on each other, I don't think it can be justified by the rule of law without it stripping a person who is being drafted of all their human rights and value.
Many are young lads who may have just finished school and who may not even have had the money or time to either get a driver's license or move away from home before the rule of law they happened to be born into summoned them to fight to the death against their brothers from neighboring countries who too have been forced into the field of death for the same reason.
These are Ukraine's soldiers, and they are now being honored by both sides.
My point is that it doesn't matter where you stand on the Ukraine-Russia crisis, and no matter if you think that there are no justifiable reasons for a Russian intervation or not, or if you are of the opinion that Ukraine is being run by a puppet regime that has been committing genocide on its own population, a majority of these young and drafted soldiers on both sides could have might as well have been brothers.
These are young involuntary heroes.

---Messerschmitt presents the second video in his series on Axis War
Heroes, this time on Joachim Peiper. He started out in an SS cavalry
unit and Schmitt reads out a report from the time detailing his high
points, before going through all the promotions he received and why he
was given them. We then learn that it was France who declared war on
Germany and not the other way around and we even see a news report
confirming this, with French riding back across the border on stolen
German bicycles.Peiper distinguished himself on the Eastern Front, deploying the Panzers
under his command as if they were cavalry and his tactics with the
tanks showed how accurate the earlier SS assessment of him was. He was
captain of one of the units that won back Kharkov in Ukraine from the
Soviets and he also rescued a convoy of ambulances from 30 miles behind
Russian lines. The bridge had been destroyed there but Peiper was able
to get them across on the ice, although the tanks were too heavy, so he
and his men had to make their own way back through the enemy lines.
After hearing more of the battle to liberate the city and seeing the
tanks in action, we learn the incredible odds that were stacked against
him before Schmitt gives us some more anecdotes from the battle of
Kursk. Eventually he became a commander and he continued in this rank
until the end of the war, where he captured four Soviet headquarters. He
was sent to Belgium in 1944 and lost a quarter of his tanks and men
while trying to get to the front to repel the allies. He would win
another medal in the battle of the bulge before taking part in one last
action in Hungary before the end of the war, but while retreating to
Austria he heard about the loss of the Fuhrer.
After being captured by the Allies he was tortured to get a confession
out of him and we see footage of the trial and of the Jewish torturer.
He was given the death sentence, but because he had been tortured, this
was eventually reduced to life imprisonment. He was released after 11
years and ended up working for Porsche, but Communists forced him out of
his job and he moved to France. He had a good life there, but once
again Communists found out where he and his wife were living and they
killed his dogs, before burning the house down with him inside it.
Nobody was ever charged, no effort was made to bring his murderers to
justice, but we do have an epitaph for him in the form of a letter that
he wrote while in prison, which sings the praises of the brave young men
who saved western Europe from the Bolshevik hordes. The Waffen SS were
the first real Europeans, their race united them rather than their
nations and they gave their lives that the rest of us might be spared
from Communism.
Figure Life Out then Offer Hero Solutions; the reactive premise of heroes is faulty; we need super heroes who understand human nature's 25/40/35 psychological split--AND WONDER WOMAN ALMOST GETS IT!
Mankind loves war because he lusts for murder--and this should have been clearly shown by Wonder Woman killing ARES god of war--and wars still continuing.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT TRUTH.
If Satan's rebellion were vanquished akin to ARES supernatural instigation eliminated, mankind still fallen would still do murdering, stealing and wars though not on as magnified a level.

If all of mankind were to become moral & stoical there'd still be Satan's war against us; for a visual 600, 000x Amerikans going missing in our national parks each year. WW and Steve travel to Europe, stop the gas attacks, kill ARES but he dies saying the "Armistice will only give you 20x years before the next war. You didn't solve the underlying problems." He laughs then croaks.
