Contrast between an older buck and smaller ones is pretty apparent here

2 weeks, 3 days ago

The contract in size from a young buck to a older bruiser is a demonstrated here.

Got a late start with camera's do to work, thought we'd set up a lick away from the planned blind to see who shows up.

Looks like I was wrong, there are two buck. Looks like the brothers from last year may have made it through.

1 month, 2 weeks ago

Late to the game trail camera footage, so far looks like 1 buck made it through the season from last year. And damn coyotes.

Some locals were nearby tending to some farm equipment. I had a chance to ask some questions. Apparently, this area is owned by some local government agency(parks and rec. or fish and game or something like that) for the sole purpose of dumping road kill. From what I'm told they mostly get hit on the straight aways and not so much on that turn there.

https://www.larsonelectronics.com/category/308/handheld-hunting-spotlights

On the field, intense light beams translate to a more effective spotlight as well as enhanced detection and safety. That’s why a heavy-duty portable light, like units from the Larson Electronics handheld hunting spotlights series, is crucial gear for today’s hunters. The spotlights in this series generate up to 10 million candle power of illumination or 3,200 lumens. This output level generates a tightly-focused, long beam up to 1,600 feet!

Nothing can beat our line of military-grade hunting light bars! “Military grade” features refer to the light’s superior ability to withstand extreme and rugged locations. Standard models are waterproof and resistant to mild corrosion. LED units in this series take on solid-state construction, which improves impact and vibration resistance. This enables our military-grade light bars to function reliably when mounted on the roof, grill or rack of vehicles.

I have only sat in the blind twice. No action, my cameras there however regularly catch moose (odd Mule or WT doe) when I am not around. This spot I probably won't sit again for the rest of the Bow Season, maybe rifle.

Yes! I did it! I got one. Here he is in all his soon-to-be-squirrel-n-dumplins glory! I almost gave up but I stuck around and siezed a grand opportunity and now this guy in in my freezer awaiting my stock pot. Figured non-hunters would be weirded out by a pic of a dead rodent. #thingsonlyhuntersunderstand

In this video I run through why I chose where I chose to put it, as well as some deer patterning chart I put to together to help me to determine best window (AM or PM) for bucks, and when I have a good access window. Watch and find out, I can go more into that table/chart if requested in another video. The second blind video I may not put up as it could be a bit redundant, however I will let you know how both of these blinds perform this season.

I ran 1.5 miles the night before, but in an effort to hold myself accountable for not going hard enough, today I PUNISHED MYSELF With a 60 lbs 1 mile Rucksack Run! Shout out to all of our Military friends that have endured this for training! It was about 97 degrees outside including the heat index, and it made this thing more punishing that I had anticipated. The flak jacket, while not technically very heavy, is very restricitve and made running all that much harder.

Unlike I said in the beginning, I do recommend you try this, but warn you: Make sure you can handle this and don't push yourself into stroke territory!

Love you all, and Subscribe if you like this type of content. I you are already, like the video to help me in the search results!! I may be giving away some free stuff soon, so If you stayed and read all of this, Comment "Defy the Odds!" in the comments, and You'll be in the running immediately!

A) Portable
B) Won't cost an arm and leg.

So here is something I put together. I will keep you informed on how it works out this year.

This spot gets me less decent footage than I like, the WildGame Innovation cameras trigger late on deer going by, and are set off constantly by the wind & the grass. This time we has 1300 videos and limited wild life pictures, from the sign in the scrapes (Hoove prints, nibbled branches, etc.) they are coming through more than I think the camera shows, the wind just triggers the camera too often. I will likely set my blind up between this camera and the one further south, see 2:40 of this video for the mapping - https://www.bitchute.com/video/cZ8ysghnY6Wx/

Looks like we got some new friends too, Enjoy!

I set this camera up late June 2020 just off a heavy trail. I made to mock scrapes, it appears the bucks are interested. They come about 5 feet off the main trail just to much on the willows I bent down and check out the scrapes I made.

We have a couple decent bucks coming regularly. I set up my blind about 20 yards from this spot.

This spot gets me less decent footage than I like, the WildGame Innovation cameras trigger late on deer going by, and are set off constantly by the wind & the grass.

Over the next month I will keep collecting more data, one of the best spots for a new blind would be just down or across from this trail. To see our strategy watch - https://youtu.be/3PC9hQGIzS0

Looks like we got some new friends too, and great footage. Enjoy!

Last month I set up a series of Mock Scrapes along a heavily trafficked trail.

It has worked well, drawing in does, and our Target Buck. The card filled up rather quickly so we missed a few weeks of footage, the damn rain. Using this info as well as what I seen in the bush I have planned/projected where I would like to put ground blinds.

DIRECTIONS: Below are videos I found helpful, I would not worry as much on scent control prior to or while setting these up, and I would avoid hanging branches instead just break fresh limbs down the belly button height, if you break them right the leaves won't die and they will last longer. Make sure to scrape the earth well, the size of a manhole, and cut down grass around the scrape, and drink up before hand! They seem to be hit the scrape the most with fresh Wizz in the scrape.

Hunting coyotes in western Oregon

Checking our trail camera's last week we stumbled across this big old boy. He appears to be in a bachelor group of three bucks, more pictures to come on those boys in a week or so. Let's see if they guys stick around for September!

Any suggestions what we should name him? Comment below!

Highlight: We had a return of a buck from last year, what should we name him?

Last week I went to check all 4 of my trail cameras on the private land I have permission on - East Quarter North Camera - In this first **FigginItOut Vlog** will walk you through where I set them up, why, how, and what we learned from the videos. As well as potential scouting for where I want to put a couple ground blinds in August to prep for September.

VIDEOS ON THE OTHER 3 CAMERAS - Trail Camera Check, Set Up, Vid Review - WILL BE ADDED SEPARATELY IN THE SAME FORMAT OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS.

Checking trail cameras is a great opportunity to do additional scouting, and an excuse to spend time in the bush.

This is the North Cam on the East Quarter Section (I have not showed pictures of this one from the winter, it was more of the same ducks, does, and coyotes.)

I am more than willing to show and walk-through my mistakes and oversights, I find it rare on Youtube that anyone is willing to do so, and I also find talking it through with you guys very cathartic. Any productive criticism is appreciate, as well any non productive criticism that is hilarious is much appreciated to haha. Enjoy!

On this edition of Flea Market Hunter, it's an extremely cold day at the flea market, making it very difficult to find anything worthwhile.

On the positive side, we see the return of Richie Rich!

While checking the camera's (complete video incoming on where I put them and how they are set up.) I stumbled across this massacre.

Video coming later on the culprits. Too bad I wasn't able to prey call any of these psycho's in last night.

More trail camera footage, Part 2 of the previous video. This is private land I have permission to hunt on. Keep you eyes peeled, what is notable is something we discovered last year. The Mule Deer push out the White-tails late fall. I will go more into it when I show how, wear, what, and why I use the trail camera's I use in a week or so.

Enjoy!

I moved the cameras position, in the earlier footage a little further south at a 45 degree angle to a new trail. Maybe only 25 yards. Over winter the snow got too deep in the last spot and the deer pattern moved a fair bit.
