Another one from Hop Valley's Stash Pack. This one is a straight IPA running 6.2 ABV 45 IBUs and the SRM is an 8. Not much on the nose, neither citrus nor pine being overpoweringly hoppy. She hits light on the front end and clears up super fast, not much thru the middle and finishes dry. A well balanced beer ever tho she's oddly light on flavor. That's it for this beer, I'd pull this from a cooler w no regrets. Thanks for coming by, E. Hop Valley is a new brewery to me. This is billed as the" Tangerine-y little Brother" of the Stash family. She hits the nose as citrusy/piney and heavier than the expressed 20 IBUs. Running 5.5 ABV with an SRM of 6, she hits the palate hoppy, burns fast thru the middle and finishes up like a standard IPA. Nothing special but not horrible. Thx for swinging by, E. PS have a heart and hit the heart to send this into the rotating feed please. As always I have no connection to any of these companies. Not all IPAs are created equal nor the same. Elysian Brewing Space Dust IPA is a hoppy beer made from Chinook, Citra, and Amarillo. The IBUs peg at 73 and it has good bitterness. Channel Dad Bryon Lape reviews Space Dust IPA poured from the bottle.
Stone Brewing is known for incredible beer and odd ideas. Brainmuffin reviews the Scorpion Bowl IPA. Will he get stung?
Why does Bryon Lape do these beer reviews by himself? Doesn't he know that the ones with World Class Bullshitters are the most watched? And why does he do them as Brainmuffin? Who cares in Brainmuffin drinks beer? Why is it always craft beer? Bryon Lape should look at his analytics more closely. According to the YouTube stats, Bryon Lape needs to do beer reviews with Brie Larson. After all, Brie Larson and the MCU Cast is the main topic of his most watch video.
Modern Times is another brewery out of southern California, an area booming in the craft beer business. This brew is part of their seasonal rotation and is billed as being packed to the hilt with 5 hop varieties Denali, Ekuanot, Citra ,Simcoe and Centennial as well as using 4 strains of malt 2 Row, Maris Otter, White Wheat and Golden Naked Oats. This isn't a bad beer but it is more slanted to the actual IPA aficionados and not the drive by drinker. A citrusy nose w a slight hint of fruit, hits up front like an IPA builds to a fruity middle and finishes clean but bitter on the back end. I give this a 3 because it didn't strike me as well crafted as some of the other experimental IPAs I've tried. If your a hopster this might be right up your alley so give it another .75 and try it out. This is a one tasty IPA. From the Big Kahuna variety pack by Kona Brewing which has Longboard, Big Wave, Hanalei Island IPA and this limited release gem that should go in the regular rotation. A nice fruity nose and fruit front, a good solid middle w a medium fast burn and a clean crisp finish. Very drinkable at 6.8 ABV 25 IBU I'd guess (which i butchered in both takes and on the board as IPA instead of IBU, mea culpa) and a beautiful copper SRM of 12. This is worth putting a tongue to. This is another "Brave New World" beer that I personally don't understand the need for. Its a "lite/diet" IPA which must be an under served market that I didn't know existed. Having a nice pale straw color, a good solid head and almost no lacing they exercised some considerable skill to make this, I just don't understand why they felt the need to. I'm not going to bag on them for making it, I'm sure the niche market is there. I just don't think it's a big enough market to justify the atrocity. That being ranted it is 4.0 ABV 31 IBU w the SRM around 1. I'm not calling for the incitation of violence on your friends BTW, I meant to imply a friendly cuff to back of the head, such as w did in the old days but w this style it might be marketed to the younger generation who might mistake it for actual violence and need to seek a safe space. Thx for stopping by. Have a nice weekend, E. New Belgium's IPA Voodoo Ranger is another of the IPA brews that are so popular. Piney up front w a hint of citrus, medium burn thru the full middle and a dirty bitter finish. Not being a big IPA guy I'd still call this drinkable but not one for the rotation. At 7.0 ABV w 50 IBUs and an SRM of 4 it's an acceptable brew but not really to my liking. I'm not a bitter guy and pine isn't one of my favorite flavors. All in all it is one of the more popular beers out there and since there is no accounting for taste who am I to disparage the popular kids. Oh thats right I'm one of the people who think the popular kids are sheeple so... Thx for stopping by and checking out my stuff. E. Welcome to the hazy south, where the IPAs run fruity all day. From SweetWater comes a mosaic hop filled cloudy IPA to satisfy your juice IPA cravings. Drink deep and let Brainmuffin take you along the journey.
Luponic Distortion series #10 an IPA w hops from the PNW, Germany and Australia. Notes of Mango creamsickle, Peach ring ( i thought that was some kind of weird urban dictionary reference but its a candy) and Ruby Grapefruit. Not bad I didn't really taste any fruit but the hop profile was probably in the 45ish area ( I couldnt find the IBUs on line anywhere) Drinkable and a decent summer beer at 5.9 ABV but not on my go to list. If you like'em " chewy" this might be a little light for you but should be within your wheelhouse. It's going or gone now since they do limited runs as experimental brews. I'm thinking thats why it's called luponic as in werewolf/shapeshifter. Not bad 3.25/5 and as always I don't have anything to do w the companies so honest reviews.
