Good morning! This morning I start out with a little look at a great tweet explaining the current situation with the Quant Network's upcoming supply shock. Then I go into some of the introductory concepts of IPFS and Filecoin. I am really excited about IPFS and FIlecoin and have alot of work to do to in that rabbit hole. I will report back to you the cool stuff I know I am going to find!

This is the first video in a 3 part series on the Interplanetary File System or IPFS. In this video we’ll explore the theoretical foundations of all the technologies that make IPFS what it is today: hash functions, distributed hash tables, bittorrent, merkle trees and more. The more practical introduction comes after this, but I recommend learning the theory as well.

Unstoppable domains released an extension and their own internet browser to enable you to view IPFS websites and effectively set up your own uncensorable website. Let’s dive in and I’ll share my experience setting one up with you.

It’s pretty straightforward if you’ve ever used a website builder before like Wix or Wordpress. After acquiring a domain and going to manage websites or domain, navigate to the website tab and then you can either redirect to your normal URL, set up a fully IPFS hosted site, or use their template. Based on the template you choose, you can get started filling in your about section, links, and all that good stuff. When you’re done, you simply hit publish to IPFS and you should be able to view your website using and IPFS enabled browsing mechanism.

Make sure when accessing your site, you add a “/” add the end of your domain, so your browser knows you want to look up your website and not do a search. For example, my domain is scottcbusiness.crypto so to then use it to navigate to my site, I need to use scottbusiness.crypto/.

With the unstoppable extension, you can decide if you want to use Cloudflare or just straight up IPFS for accessing your files. It really just makes a difference in load time.

Another great service to check out is Ethereum Name Service (ENS) which does something similar for the names but doesn’t have the full website hosting capabilities. The reason you may want to use it is that only certain wallets work with ENS and certain ones work with Unstoppable and this will cover all your bases.
