"The 5 Rules to AWAKENING: Rule #1 - Everything you were ever taught is a lie by design; Rule #2 - governments lie 100% of the time, they always have, and they always will; Rule #3 - the Illuminati controlled mainstream media is not reality, but rather is lies, disinformation, half-truths, and fake events carried out by gov/media hired crisis actors (aka role players); Rule #4 - Spirituality and Reincarnation are reality, whereas religions are simply government crowd control measures; and Rule #5 - this plane(t) called earth is a flat, motionless plane, it is not a spinning ball hurling through outer space. Furthermore, the 4 Sources of Disinformation that are ALWAYS FAKE: government, mainstream media news, matrix sciences, and religions." -- Sergeant Major
This mix is intended to be listened to without knowing the upcoming track, so try not to peek or skip ahead. The working theme to this series is to highlight an artist with three songs. Then riff off and mix in whatever song I feel flows with the previous song. And hopefully ending with the artist I started with and make a nice cyclic mix. Sometimes I fail, and end up in a strange place. But that can lead to some interesting musical discoveries. All songs from record. Youtube has a way of derailing my flow with a copyright block. That's why I started a Mixcloud account. The complete mix can be found there. If you want to hear the real direction of this mix please give it a listen. If you just need a musical fix and like a vinyl feel, this will scratch the itch. Enjoy.
Afterthoughts-----It's a bit of a strech at the end with the change over from Silver Moon to She Has Funny Cars. I added that for this re-upload. I ran out of room on the CD I mix this to originally, but decided to just add this track to make it in keeping with the style of this series. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. I really wanted to put Lather from Crown Of Creation but didn't want to have that many songs from the same album. Turns out I like Crown Of Creation more then Surrealistic Pillow. But it's a close one.

In this episode of Awesome Albums, we take a look at Jefferson Airplane’s second album Surrealistic Pillow, released in 1967. This is one of those albums that really represents the counterculture in the 1960s. Outside of compilation albums, this is the album that has most of their big hits and is a really great album.

The "Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra (PERRO)" is a nickname given to a groovy groop of West Coast musicians who recorded together very briefly back in the early 1970s. They were predominantly members of Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Crosby, Stills and Nash and Young. Their first album together was "Blows Against The Empire" which was released under the name Jefferson Starship for a myriad of obvious legal reasons. The name reverted back to the Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra for their next record as the "supporting musicians" on what was eventually released as David Crosby's "If I Could Only Remember My Name" album. Hours and hours of rehearsals and recording during the sessions for Crosby's album were taped. Material played during these recorded sessions in 1971 was not just used for Crosby's album (the "PERRO Chorus" is credited on the song, "What Are Their Names") but turned up on several other solo albums after including "Rolling Thunder" the Grateful Dead drummer, Micky Hart's debut solo album, Bob Weir's "Ace" album and Jorma Kaukonen's Hot Tuna debut album, "First Pull Up, Then Pull Down". The name Jefferson Starship was also later used for Paul Kantner and Grace Slick's new band which they formed in 1974. Paul Kantner, never one to leave a good thing alone, recorded a solo album in 1983 as a tribute to this time simply called "Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra". It featured NONE of the original line-up and totally sucks anyway.
