The Bible is a road map for the last days, requiring study and the Holy Spirit to discern the times. Enoch, the prophet Joel, Jesus and the apostle John all spoke of a future global judgment. Each time the theme was the same; God's holy angels would bring together the people, there would be a global judgment of the nations and the lost would be sent to the Lake of Fire.
Contrary to what many believe, the Bible doesn't say that Christians will be raptured prior to the coming of the Antichrist and the Great Tribulation. The apostle Paul said the last trumpet would sound and the believers who are alive would be raptured in conjunction with the resurrection of those who died in Christ. This catching away would not take place until the Antichrist established his throne and proclaimed his godhood at the temple in Jerusalem.
Thirty eight years after Paul's death, God revealed to John that seven trumpets would sound. How did Paul know about this trumpet? The obvious conclusion is that Paul was given supernatural knowledge about the last trumpet by the Holy Spirit. The Bible contains a road map of the end times; when teamed up with discernment from the Holy Spirit, it provides a glimpse of future events.

He is the Lord Jesus Christ who was and is and is to come, the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the way the truth and the life, and no one can come to the father in heaven except through HIM He has ALL authority over everything in Heaven and in earth and HE came down to earth as a man, fully man and fully God and lived a sinless life and died on a criminals cross having never committed any sin and HE did it for all of us pure blooded human beings to take our sins upon HIMSELF so that we can be forgiven by the Father and ge now sits at the Father's right hand and in return for HIS incredible gift of love for us by giving HIS life for us all we need to do is accept that free gift of salvation to believe in Jesus Christ that HE died for our sins nod was raised from the dead we shall be saved, that is justification. Then comes the sanctification process where we ask God to help us live for him and turn from our sins, this is continual throughout our lives but the good news is we can pray in Jesus name for all the help we need which is what having faith is about, without faith it is impossible to please God, afterwards is glorification when the Lord Jesus returns; which will be soon, and His will raise all his saints in glorified immortal bodies, basically we will be made like the angels in heaven, Jesus said this himself.

Lessons of Darkness deals with the aftermath of the first Gulf War. Shot in documentary style on 16-millimetre film from the perspective of an almost alien observer, the film is an exploration of the catastrophic oil well fires ignited across Kuwait by retreating Iraqi forces. Unlike news footage at the time, however, Herzog’s film is completely devoid of political or geographic explanatory notes. What little commentary that is provided is more akin to poetic fiction. The opening narration begins: ‘A planet in our solar system; wide mountain ranges, clouds, the land shrouded in mist’. Heightening the sense that we are alien visitors exploring the ruins of a dead world.

Lessons of Darkness is a meditation on catastrophe, contextualised through the literary modes of religious thought and science fiction. It begins with a quotation, attributed to Blaise Pascal: ‘The collapse of the stellar universe will occur – like creation – in grandiose splendor.’ This attribution is apocryphal as it was in fact written by Herzog for the purposes of the film. Lessons of Darkness is divided into thirteen sections, each denoted by a numbered title card:

‘A Capital City’, ‘The War’, ‘After the Battle’, ‘Finds from Torture Chambers’, ‘Satan's National Park’, ‘Childhood’, ‘And a Smoke Arose like a Smoke from a Furnace’, ‘A Pilgrimage’, ‘Dinosaurs on the Go’, ‘Protuberances’, ‘The Drying Up of the Source’, ‘Life Without the Fire’, ‘I am so tired of sighing; Lord, let it be night’.

The narrative stance is detached, almost bemused. Herzog makes no effort to explain the actual causes of the catastrophic scenes being witnessed, interpreting them instead with epic terms and vaunting rhetoric to an operatic score. A telephoto lens, truck-mounted shots, static shots of workers near oil fires, and aerial shots from helicopters are used to help convey the bleakness of the devastated landscape. Towards the end of the film, the ‘creatures’ fighting the blaze are shown reigniting oil wells seemingly driven mad by the insanity that surrounds them.

At the close of its screening at the Berlin Film Festival, the audience reacted furiously to the film, rising to castigate Herzog with accusations that he had aestheticised the horror of the war. Herzog waved his hands and protested "You're all wrong! You're all wrong!" maintaining that both Hieronymous Bosch and Goya had done likewise in their art. Lessons of Darkness is in the tradition of anti-war art forms such as Picasso’s ‘Guernica’, a cubist apocalypse that attempts to convey the true horror of war.

Welcome to Riding the Storms!
Today's episode is part 11 of a mini-series entitled "Release of the Foreign Marriages." It began with being called to a forty day fast and bringing our relationships into alignment, starting with our covenant with God. Next we looked at (part 2) “Delighting in the Lord,” and we continued with the “Fast- Destroying Sexual Altars” (part 3) and prayed through to deal with those once and for all. Part 4 of the “Fast- Building Honor” helped us to establish the right altars in the place of the ones destroyed- it’s important to have that balance of building up honor in our relationship with God and one another.
Part 5, “Fast – Restoration of Obedience” continues in the Lord’s direction of tearing down things that should not be in our lives, and building up what should be- and the solid way to do this is through obedience to Him. Obedience is vitally important! Whether delighting in the Lord, honoring our relationship with Him, obedience is the firm foundation that keeps it all going! Part 6 dealt with “Fast- The Refiner’s Fire.” Part of the building up is being IN the Refiner’s Fire KNOWING that He is making all things new!
Next we moved into Part 7, “Fast- NEW is Powerful" followed by Part 8 which challenged us to ask ourselves if we are truly allowing God to do His work in us, or if we are short-changing ourselves and “Settling for Stew”?
On last week's Riding the Storms, the cleansing continued with "Redeemed For Love." We learned that despite the hurts of past relationships, that the Lord has redeemed us to be in right relationships with Him and those around us.
We also looked at a secondary fast from "Redeemed for Love" in Isaiah 52.
In Part 11, Heart Condition of the Land, we're in Jeremiah 14. It's a difficult chapter about God's judgement on His people. We cannot cherry pick scripture, and must look at things as a whole. For the next two episodes, we are dealing with those harder judgements and hope is packed into both! Will you heed the warnings from the Lord and do what He says?
