The tribes of Israel were not all carried off to the same place or all at once. There are records of invasions and migrations and we can trace the changes in the names of these groups throughout history. The northward and westward migrations led to a dominance of Europe, the formation of England, and ultimately a spreading around the world, fulfilling the prophecies of God's scattered people. All of this speaks of God's sovereignty and when everything looks lost in our eyes it's not lost in God's eyes. He's not finished with us, His people, or His plan.

At first glance, Issachar and his descendants seemed to be overlooked in the Bible. However, careful examination shows that they were men of means, men of might, understanding and discernment. But, God has a plan and despite their short falling He will keep His word of promise to the children of Israel to accomplish His purpose then, today and in the last days. The message to us today, knowing the revelation of Christ, is that for our faith, the grace of God will see us through no matter how short we fall.

A look at Reuben shows God’s grace to fallen man. While the promise passed to another, his position as firstborn was never erased. We, like Reuben, deserve to die for our sins, but because of Christ’s status for our faith, we become co-heirs, receiving the promise, the position, and the property – Christ in us, the hope of glory.

In this study, Pastor Scott explains the difference between the different Greek words that are all translated as “beasts” in the King James Bible. The four “beasts” around the throne in Revelation 4 are not wild beasts, but “living creatures”. Their appearance is similar to that of the cherubim Ezekiel saw surrounding the departing glory of the Lord. From the beginning of the Bible to the end, the symbolism is consistent: the faces like a lion, a man, a calf and an eagle are tied to the standards of the tribes of Judah, Reuben, Ephraim and Dan that were camped on each side of the Tabernacle. These living creatures always correlate to the presence of God.

John gives us a glimpse into the mystery and majesty of the throne room in heaven, seeing the triune God and those that surround Him. There, John sees the 24 elders who have been redeemed for a purpose: to praise and worship God as they behold the spectacle of salvation. We who have been redeemed exist for the same purpose, and we can prepare to spend eternity with Him by praising Him in all things.

Each of the seven churches suffered from something that had the power to hinder them from overcoming. As believers, we face the same things in a life-long battle for our soul, and for the church: a wrestling match with the world, the flesh, and the devil. Overcoming isn’t easy, but if we focus on Christ, the giver, the one who already overcame the world, the flesh, and the works of the devil, none of these things will separate us from Him who's given us the key to overcoming, and that is by simple faith in Him.

The church at Laodicea was the worst of the seven churches, being temporally wealthy and spiritually destitute. They became lukewarm and pushed Christ out of the church. Then and today, God chastens the ones he loves when they drift away. If we hear Him, the door of grace is still open and we shall overcome by faith.

Who are these two individuals who will take the truth to the world on the last days?
The warning to the church at Sardis was to be vigilant in their faith and resist complacency. We too need to heed this warning and recognize that we are stewards for Christ’s sake. Otherwise we face the danger of becoming walking dead people: having the outer shell of a Christian without any spiritual life

The church at Thyatira was lured away by a group of people, typified by Jezebel of the Old Testament. They appointed themselves as the “oracles of God” and perverted the true message, luring people away from fidelity towards God to something that is offered and acceptable in the world, but not to God. Small churches will always face the same danger. This is why we must heed the warning and grab hold of the promise: those who overcome will be given the morning star Himself, Jesus Christ, and power over the nations.

The church at Smyrna, representing preparation for death, gives us a picture of true commitment and sacrifice, which ultimately lead to martyrdom. Although we don't have to face martyrdom, we can still apply the message to our lives: there is a purpose for the suffering and tribulation we go through, and it's all preparation for eternal life. If we remain faithful in our commitments, we are promised the crown of a victor.

The seven churches of Asia have modern significance beyond their representation as church ages. The church of Ephesus is the example of mechanical Christianity, where the love for Christ has been lost. The exhortation to the church is to remember from where you have fallen, change your mind (metanoia), and do your first works of faith again. We are warned by the example of Ephesus, which did not go back to its first works and thereby had its candlestick removed. Meditating on Psalm 51 provides a clear path to metanoia and regaining that love.

The first discourse on the seventy weeks of years in Daniel 9. The Hebrew makes it perfectly clear that these are not seventy days or weeks, but seventy weeks of years. God is a date setter and just like He was faithful to fulfill the 70 years of bondage for His disobedient people, the rebuilding of the city, the coming of and cutting off of the Messiah, He will fulfill the things that have not yet come to pass in these 70 weeks of years.
