"Freedom" is predominantly an internal construct. Viktor Frankl, the legendary Holocaust survivor who wrote Man's Search For Meaning, said it well: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way (in how he approaches his circumstances).”
In other words, to be free is to take ownership of what goes on between your ears, to be autonomous in thoughts first and actions second. Your freedom to act a certain way can be taken away from you – but your attitude about your circumstances cannot – making one's freedom predominantly an internal construct.
On the other hand, "liberty" is predominantly an external construct. It's the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views. The ancient Stoics knew this (more on that in a minute). So did the Founding Fathers, who wisely noted the distinction between negative and positive liberties, and codified that difference in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The distinction between negative and positive liberties is particularly important, because an understanding of each helps us understand these seminal American documents (plus it explains why so many other countries have copied them). The Bill of Rights is a charter of negative liberties – it says what the state cannot do to you. However, it does not say what the state must do on your behalf. This would be a positive liberty, an obligation imposed upon you by the state.
Thus in keeping with what the late Murray Rothbard said above, the liberty of the individual is the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other "goods" that mankind cherishes. Living in liberty allows each of us to fully enjoy our freedoms. And how these two terms developed and complement one another is important for anyone desiring to better understand what it means to be truly free.

The Battle of Jaffa: When 2,000 Knights Defeated 20,000 Muslims

On July 27, 1192, Saladin, the great hero sultan of Islam, surrounded and besieged the tiny Christian-held town of Jaffa. According to chroniclers, the Muslims numbered around 20,000 and “covered the face of the earth like locusts.”
Messengers were instantly dispatched to King Richard I, who was then in Acre, preparing to sail back to England. Before the battered and bruised messengers had finished relaying their message, “With God as my guide,” Richard declared, “I will set out to do what I can,” and instantly disembarked on his fleet with slightly over 2,000 fighters.
Meanwhile, Jaffa was fighting for its life. According to Saladin’s confidant and court historian, Baha’ al-Din, after one of its walls collapsed, all the Muslims rushed into the city, “and there was not an enemy heart that did not tremble and shake.” Even so, the Christians “were more fierce and determined in the fight and more eager for and devoted to death.”
When the main gate was finally battered down and an adjoining wall collapsed from the bombardment, a “cloud of dust and smoke went up and darkened the sky.” Once it cleared, the Muslims saw that “spear-points had replaced the walls and lances had blocked the breach.” Only death would release the crusaders of their charge to defend Jaffa.
Due to the great masses of rushing Muslims, the garrison was eventually driven to and holed up in the citadel, even as the sackers turned their attention to Jaffa’s civilian populace: “Alas for the pitiful slaughter of the sick!” recalls the chronicler. “They lay weakly on couches everywhere in the houses of the city; the Turks tortured them to death in horrible ways.”
Due to contrary winds, Richard’s fleets finally arrived on the evening of July 31 but did not disembark. As Baha’ al-Din explains, the crusaders “saw the town crammed with the Muslims’ banners and men and they feared that the citadel might have already been taken. The sea prevented their hearing the shouts that came from everywhere and the great commotion and cries of ‘There is no god but Allah’ and ‘Allahu Akbar.’”
To make matters worse, “When the Turks saw the king’s galleys and ships approaching, masses of them ran on to the shore,” writes the chronicler, “raining down spears, javelins, darts and arrows densely so that they would have nowhere free to land. The shore was seething, so covered with crowds of the enemy that there was no empty space left.”
Then, on the morning of August 1, a fighting priest took his chances: he jumped out of the citadel’s window, into the sea, and swam to the fleets. On learning that, although the “Saracens had taken the castle and were rounding up the Christians as prisoners,” a remnant of the garrison was still holding out, Richard exclaimed that, “If it so please God… we should die here with our brothers.”
Without donning his full armor, the king “armed himself with his hauberk, hung his shield at his neck and took a Danish axe in his hand.” With his crossbow in the other hand -- and crying “death only to those who do not advance!” -- he hurled himself into the water “and forced himself powerfully on to dry land,” all while firing his crossbow at the wild throng assembled along the shore and swiping incoming arrows away with his axe.
Instantly, the rest of the crusaders followed their king; they hurled themselves into the water and “boldly attacked the Turks who obstinately opposed them on the shore.” Before long, and “at the sight of the king,” whom the Muslims dreaded from earlier encounters, none of them “dare[d] approach him.” Rather, they fled down the shore. The chronicle has the rest:
Brandishing his bared sword, the king followed in such hot pursuit that none of them had time to defend themselves. They fled from his weighty blows. In the same way the king’s comrades constantly assailed the fugitives, driving them on, crushing, rending, beheading and tossing them about until all the Turks had been violently expelled from the shore and left it empty… The king fell on them with unsheathed sword, pursued them, beheaded and slew them. They fled before him, falling back in dense crowds to his right and left.
Once Richard, drenched in Muslim blood, became visible to Saladin’s entourage, “a horrible howl went up,” even as another hail of Turkic arrows rained on the Christians. Undeterred, their berserker king continued to “cut to pieces all he met without distinction” in his mad dash to Saladin, prompting the latter to flee “like a frightened hare… [H]e put spur to horse and fled before King Richard, not wishing to be seen by him… The king and his fellow-knights steadfastly pursued him, continually slaying and unhorsing… for more than two miles.”

The fake-stream news media KITV was inside for Jill Biden's cringe "please inject the kool-aid" speech where there appeared to be fewer people than there were outside protesting. When it was Governor David Ige's turn to blather on the microphone, he tried to scare people into taking the covid jab. He failed to mention the unprecedented record number of hundreds of thousands of vaccine related injuries recorded in the last seven months in the CDC's VAERS database.
Marching alongside the school, protesters were warmly greeted with secret service agents and snipers on the roof.
For the record, there was only one firetruck and ambulance that came to Waipahu High School. Because there were two gates at the school and the firetruck and ambulance made a u-turn, it caused many to think there was two firetrucks and two ambulances. Another ambulance drove by later, but it was unrelated. From the best reports I have received, the ambulance came to treat a Jill Biden supporter who had suffered problems due to the heat.

In this study, we will seek The Word of God to find out a deeper meaning of "Fear not". The phrase "Fear not" appears 365 times in the King James Version of the Bible. Interestingly enough, there are 365 days in the calendar (1 for each Day). In contrast, The Word tells us "... the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge..." (Proverbs 1:7). Continuously, we are told to "Fear the Lord". What does this mean to you?
This has led me to research for many years; What is "Fear" and how did it come about...? Biblically and Naturally... F.E.A.R. (Fake Evidence Appearing Real).

hi there, so I was having an insane conversation with a woman on Twitter about technocracy and the risks from data. Like most things, the average person doesn't have a scooby about the potential harm from data.
From a wider perspective, the ignorance around data misuse has been bothering me for a good while. We tend to consider Elon Musk's dystopian Extinction event view or the Surveillance State NSA approach a la Edward Snowden.
In reality, it is far duller and yet more extreme than either of those scenarios. Simple bad database design, bad data modelling, incompetence, and an inability to consider complexity in software designs.
In particular, the vaccine passport as evidenced by the awful Contact Tracing efforts is particularly concerning.
Here I am blasting our tyrant of a governor, Janet Trafton Mills, as she richly deserves, for her un Constitutional actions. This is from a protest in our state's capital - Augusta about a year ago.
Though I have no desire to give up my anonymity, being active and loud immediately brings about that consequence.
But I cannot remain silent.
Lockdowns are un-Constitutional. Stay at home orders are Un-Constitutional. The Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, and ALL laws that are repugnant to it are null and void.
This is me, uncensored, raw, honest, protesting here in Maine in our nation's capital, exercising my GOD-GIVEN first amendment right to peaceably assemble and petition our government for a redress of my grievances.
If I could get a million or so Angry Citizens to join me, we could take back our Constitutional Republic overnight.

I heard about a really good article on Lenin and his methods of thought, I think from somebody in the Reason comments. It's called Leninthink, by Gary Saul Morson. In addition to enumerating a bunch of Lenin's most horrible statements and acts, Morson gives a good, clear description of several of Lenin's methods, which is extremely useful for any libery-minded person. Lenin is definitely one of history's most terrible monsters, and this article is a good jumping-off point for further study.

How is someone "Born Again". I believe it has a great deal to do with the "Renewing" of our minds (Romans 12:2). In my studies, to simplify a complex matter; GOD/Jesus/The Holy Bible is only what you Believe it to Be. Belief is the main component of Faith, in my studies... It Always Works when you Believe. Never works if you do not... Strange that way...
