When I first looked at network marketing 30 years ago, my parents told me not to do it. My big sister said "It's absolutely a scam!" … and yet I went against their advice and did it anyway. Why? Was I crazy or stubborn and mule-headed? Was I tricked into doing it?

No. I simply asked myself one important question. (A question most people never think to ask.)

If someone is telling you "don't do network marketing" -- they probably mean well. But they may not have all the facts. So let me offer you another perspective -- from someone who has seen both sides, had great success, and lived to tell the tale.

Does every network marketing business eventually collapse because there's no more new people join, like a pyramid scheme or a Ponzi scheme would? And if so, is it possible to lose all your money? Is there ever a point where you run out of leads and "get stuck" at the bottom? Let's talk about it...

Skeptics say that MLM relies on the "multiplication factor" and repeatedly throw out simplified "geometric" numbers that look cool on paper, but do they actually happen in real life?

Is there a chance you can lose money, and how does that compare to things like real estate or the stock market?

My response to Ellie Flynn's BBC article called "Multilevel Marketing Sells a Dream. Don't Buy It."

Hers is the latest in a series of biased, one-sided media hit pieces on the MLM industry. You start to notice their pattern -- their undertone of: "Don't dare to dream. Just stay where you are..."

This is the NEW matrix.

Telling half-truths, omitting important details in the interest of spinning a story. It's the opposite of fair and balanced. It's media spin, designed (1) to get clicks; and (2) to discourage people from breaking out of the box. Regressing back toward average. Crushing dreams.

Ellie is attacking the industry and accusing MLM of making false promises and exploiting vulnerable women, selling them false hope. She interviews a new mom named Vickie who's struggling in her business, then proceeds to slam the industry for her lack of success.

Sad story, no doubt. But I'm asking, where are the interviews of the successful single moms that CAN now support their families AND stay at home at the same time? Where is the balance?

Ellie's tactic and her tone reminded me of something ... it's no different than when the Wall Street Journal asked to interview me back in 1999. The reporter at that time asked very pointed questions that indicated his (negative) opinion was already made up before we even started.

Journalism is supposed to be balanced, but that's not balanced. It's the matrix. It's the "how dare you try to break out of your place in life?"

Ellie says this young mother shouldn't have even tried. She should not have bought the dream that she could somehow make her life better.

I question Ellie's integrity as a journalist. And to her I say, "Don't dream of a better life? How dare you!"

Do you feel like network marketing is below you? Afraid it might cause you to lose some status points with your friends and family? There's a perception some people have that you have to recruit your friends and neighbors -- something that sounds uncomfortable. But that's not how network marketing has to be done at all! Today I'm going to show you "the pipeline" of what it takes to do this business in a whole different way.

Here's a great example of a YouTuber using her platform and influence to make anti-MLM videos. She's a makeup artist with lots of followers, who has made it her goal to "shut down Network Marketing." And I've gotta give her credit, because seeing what she found made me cringe...

I have nothing against this lady. But when her content crosses over into the network marketing world, it lands on my radar. And when somebody states things that are untrue or out of context, I'm going to correct it.

To all the people building a network marketing business, I want you to learn from this video, how you come across to others with what you're saying.

We live in a time where anyone can take your words and twist them and put them on display for all the world to see.

We need to clean it up.

I feel it's my responsibility to respond, and for you to share this video so that other network marketers can tighten up their game.

- Don't make silly claims you can't back up with real data.
- Don't make promises you can't keep.
- Treat your business like a REAL business, and that means actually learning how to market and sell.

This channel is here to show that you get much better results when you're a professional.

The people who earn the most money in network marketing are the professionals -- the ones that really know their game. And so I'm gonna challenge YOU to really know your game.

This is Network Marketing Power.

When there was no one in the media willing to talk about it, Larry King was intrigued by the MLM industry and its perception by outsiders, and he wanted to participate in bringing "the unvarnished truth" about the Network Marketing industry to the public. I'm forever grateful for that, and I'll always remember this day.

Rest in peace, my friend, Larry King. You were a brilliant man, with an appetite for curiosity and an ability to really dig in and pull out the facts from people. It was an honor to be interviewed by you in 2009 on this stage.

I was interviewed in the Wall Street Journal and a Washington D.C. magazine, and what they write about Network Marketing is very confusing. From someone who's been in it for 32 years and made millions, trust me that network marketing is actually very simple. Here's how I explain it...

01:07 - Which Category of Business Do You Want to Be In?
04:01 - Why I Chose Customer Acquisition - Highest Margins, Most security
04:38 - The person closest to the customer makes the most margin
06:37 - What is Network Marketing?
06:56 - How to Choose a Network Marketing Company
08:25 - You own the customers - unlike affiliate marketers, Amazon sellers, etc.
08:48 - You acquire reps (if available) and provide them training
09:16 - Comparable industries to Network Marketing
09:37 - Pipeline: How Sales Reps Acquire Customers
10:55 - There are no "born" salesmen
11:49 - How I ended up in sales
13:35 - What sales REALLY is
16:58 - On manipulation tactics and pushing too hard...
18:52 - My epiphany - here's what people are missing
20:19 - The one unprofessional thing I see in the Network Marketing space
21:24 - How often should you follow up?
22:53 - Should you tell reps it's not sales?
23:35 - What matters most - Quantity or Quality?
24:07 - The only thing you're looking for in network marketing

From Bob and Anna Bassett's blog.

An Aussie 2 Up takes the first two people out of a Newbie’s warm market. That is 2.3 – 2.6 people, leaving no market!
An Aussie 2 Up is for strong closers for a $1200+ Pop. Almost no beginners can sell a package at this rate. The newbie loses their money.
Most Aussie 2 Up’s have a $5000 – 6000 seminar behind a $1200 – $1500 package on the front end.
Aussie 2 Up seminars are not Tony Robbins quality. In fact they set people up for an offshore seminar at $12 – 15,000 for secrets that can’t be told in the U.S. They are offshore so they can lie to newbies with freedom!
Material for most of the Aussie 2 Up’s is $1250 or higher, and can be found in public libraries for free. Better stuff can be ordered from Amazon. Coastal Vacations have about $36 worth of common travel certificates in the package.
[Ed: $1250 is paid directly to the sponsor who sends in $250 to the company that remains at arm’s length.]
NOW comes the reason Aussie 2 Up’s get shut down eventually. People want their money back. The salesperson got $1000 the company got $250. The salesperson won’t give up the money. The company can’t, so they say go back to the sales person. Ha! Fat chance for that money back! https://togethertothetop.com/how-many-can-you-screw-up-in-an-aussie-two-up/

In MLM, it is natural that you will lose some customers and affiliates from your organization. It is not if, but when and how much it happens. There are actions you can take as a Network Marketing Professional to reduce the amount of attrition.

If you are doing the right activities consistently, your business growth will exceed the attrition levels and your income and achievement results will continue to increase. On the contrary, if you sit around and cry about it or even worse blame X,Y & Z, you will not have much of business or residual income as times goes on.

Winners make it happen and pull out all the stops. They find ways to communicate with their downline affiliates and with their customers to keep them engaged and interested in the company and products/services. They continue to add value and add new customers and affiliates no matter how long they have been in the business.

Hope you get value out of today's lesson. If you are looking for additional income or are dissatisfied with your current situation, click on the link below to take a free tour of what I am promoting. I am here to help you reach your dreams.
