Came across this and thought it is fascinating and even if I might disagree a bit because Islam is intolerant in the sense as "keep your private things, private". And yes it does strongly emphasize family and value of parents to extent it teaches to please Allah and to please your parents.
He does raise important points and thoughts are welcome. I believe Islam simply is the way because it is not limited to a group of people from anywhere on earth. The Arabic word simply means to submit to God in peace and regardless of language or location if that is the concept you believe then Islam is the way you follow by technicality.
