Understanding Natural Selection is important. The biology dictionary states that, “Natural selection is a pressure that causes groups of organisms to change over time.”

It sounds like Natural Selection is the driving force behind evolution. The fact is, Natural Selection can only eliminate traits... it cannot create new traits or even variations. Natural selection cannot direct evolution to follow a certain path. It is passive. It can not select the direction evolution needs to follow.
