"The Neverending Story" is an undeniable classic from the eighties, but when the film was being refined for distribution in the United States, the studio brought in disco guru Giorgio Moroder to add additional music and the iconic theme song to accompany the already amazing score by composer Klaus Doldinger. Both composers appear on the film's commercially successful soundtrack, but never worked together on the film.
Here I combine two tracks from that album "Theme of Sadness" by Doldinger, and "Swamps of Sadness" by Moroder.
Enjoy!

I really don't know why I did this, but I'm kinda glad I did. I really like the result.
Basically I re-watched The Neverending Story and the nostalgia hit me like a machine gun. That scene where Artax drowns in the Swamp of Sadness is pretty dreadful, sure. But the music is pretty iconic. For some reason, I decided to make my own version. A prog house version, to be specific.
I hope you like it, but I won't apologise for resurfacing any unpleasant suppressed memories about the scene.
"The Theme of Sadness" was written and composed by Klaus Doldinger.
