This is just something I put together in an attempt to recreate the years-long Thanksgiving tradition that the New York City area TV station, WWOR, used to do many years ago.
On Thanksgiving Day, they would run the films King Kong, Son of Kong, and Mighty Joe Young. In fact, for a time they would have the tagline "After the turkey, go ape".
The next day, on Black Friday, they would show Godzilla flicks all afternoon.
Anyway, enjoy this trip down memory lane and happy holidays!

Our guest for this episode is Hiraeth, a musician whose moniker is

a Welsh term for “the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for lost places of your past,

or perhaps something that never was.”

Continuing from the discussion John and I had on Episode 14,

which focused more on what the changing seasons do to us,

we focus here on nostalgia, what periodic returns to the places and

relationships of your past can do for you in the present.

~ABOUT THIS PROJECT~
We are living in a time of tremendous change in the world, perhaps even a transition between epochs. Using our thought and speech to the best we can on this show, we commit to navigate the questions and challenges of such times.

We take a spirit and intention of harmony and holistic thinking as our guide, seeking to avoid many either/or pitfalls that too easily result in confusion, disintegration, and harm.

This does not mean rendering everything limply neutral and “moderate,” for we primarily believe in a harmony between curious openness and strong boundaries.

We lament the loss of meaning, purpose and virtue that many modern people experience, but can also critique older notions whose blind spots got us here, or examine nefarious schemes currently pushing anti-life agendas—even if these are publicly presented as “evolved,” “enlightened,” and “inevitable.”

We can enjoy the spread of ideas, mobility and resources in a more connected world while fiercely advocating for the remarkable distinctions that signify the unique peoples and cultures of earth, of course most apt to address and rehabilitate our own as men of European descent.

We believe in truth, beauty and goodness and see how irony and nihilism are wrecking peoples’ lives.

All the while we insist on a generous spirit where appropriate and keep a lightness in our hearts, for the world certainly doesn’t need any more bitterness.
Please join us if this intrigues you.

Another edit of mine using various clips from archive.org as well as some of my favorite movies including Goldeneye 007 and Diehard. I have some animations in the making. It is just slower moving in summer months because i'm out and enjoying the sun before its gone. Voices are probably the most time consuming part of it all. The rest is a few hours here and there drawing out frames and I am done...

Also, since these videos cost some money to make now that I run it all through a VCR, I decided to make some merch to help fund the various things that make this possible. I have it priced so I only make approximately $5 on each sale. There will be more selections coming in the near future so keep a look out for new items.

In Rob's, aka WoodenRailwayReview's Final review for his channel, there were some little segments in his review where he talked about some off-topic, but still related topics. One of witch was about how Strand was one of company's who produced a VHS of "James goes Buzz Buzz", & how their logo is just so, DAMN LOUD.

As he kinda described it, Imagen being a little young kid, your mom just bought you this awesome new Thomas set! It's not a special version of James, & this Boco character you don't see too often at the toy store, & on the tv. & best of all, it's got a free VHS that has an episode in it that goes along with your new set. so you pop in the VHS, go & sit down near ur new train set to build & play with while the VHS plays, & then the logo comes up. Kinda rude, & scary for a kid right? Just the loud Arse bass, as your trying to play with James & Loco-Boco.

Anyway, In Rob's Review of the TWR (Thomas Wooden Railway) James Goes buzz Buzz Set, he rambles on more about some other stuff from the VHS. But oddly to me, after the review had been fully published... nothing happened. A week later, not much else happened...

Why is this odd? Well, I thought, since this was really Rob's last Hurrah for a review to ever be made on his channel, it would be celebrated more. See, in the past, Rob has made quite a name for himself from not only his reviews, but also his Memes or twitter, & live streams, where a lot of those memes originated from. The "Welcome Stanly", "RexVevo", & many more started from either his channel or sub-channels, owned by him.

So, seeing as he made it notable discussion point in his review about how crazy loud the Strand logo was, vs other publishers, I am very surprised it didn't become a meme, for again, one last hurrah! Maybe if He retweeted the original tweet that I posted & tagged him in, maybe, just maybe, it would have picked up traction, & got people to open up their video editors.

But alas, here we are, in a world were a crazy Canadian man with a love for wooden trains with faces, & just trains with faces had one last hurrah of a review on his channel, only (to my knowledge) was celebrated for about a week or so, then everyone went back to what there were doing. Rob's still active in the community, but I'd say not as much as he uses to be.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk, please go to rob's channel & watch some of his reviews. It's not your average channel that talks about little wooden children's toys, it's a lot more than that. A heck ton more, passion, character, & craft of film making. So much so that Rob is one of my, if not my biggest inspirations for getting into film/photography.
So in the end, it was super fun while it lasted. Thank you Rob, for everything.

This week's episode is very dear to my heart and it's called "Walking Distance".

HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW HIGHLY I AM RECOMMENDING THIS ONE.

"Advertising executive Martin Sloan (Gig Young), age thirty-six, is exhausted by the hectic pace of life in New York City. One day, while in an especially disgruntled mood, Martin goes for a drive in the country and winds up not far from his old home town. He stops, leaves his car at a gas station and sets off on foot to the town. Mysteriously, he arrives to find things exactly as they were when he was a child. Then reality sets in. His short walk has taken him a long, long way...much farther than he thought...all the way to The Twilight Zone."

Episode Summary
A middle-aged man, Martin Sloan, is driving cross-country when he stops his car. He walks toward his hometown, which appears exactly as it was when he was a boy. He goes into a drugstore and has an ice cream soda while recalling his memories from the past. He says, "One of the greatest memories I have is Old Man Wilson, may God rest his soul, sleeping in his comfortable chair just like he did before he died." The cashier looks shocked but doesn't say anything and as Martin leaves the store, the cashier goes up to a room where Mr. Wilson is sleeping and says "We'll need more chocolate syrup, Mr. Wilson." He responds by saying "I'll order some more of it this afternoon."

"For Rod Serling, "Walking Distance" had an intensely personal meaning. He conceived the plot when he was out walking on an MGM set and became overwhelmed with nostalgia when he realized its similarity to the town of Binghamton, New York, where he grew up during the 1930s. It suddenly struck him that all of us have a deep longing to go back -not to our home as it is today, but as we remember it."

Similar themes are explored in "The Incredible World of Horace Ford" and, to a lesser extent, "Young Man's Fancy." The episode also deals with the relentless pressures of the business world, which also serve as the basis for "A Stop at Willoughby," "The Brain Center at Whipple's," and two Serling teleplays from before and after The Twilight Zone: "Patterns" and the Night Gallery episode "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar."

This is a mash-up of a bunch of different intros to cartoons from the 1980s. It started out as me making the quintessential 80's cartoon intro but honestly this project just kind of spiraled out of control and I'm not even sure what, but I enjoy doing these kind of edits and I hope you enjoy watching them.

Southern California Nostalgia of The Iconic Drive in Theaters.

The giant marques, with brilliant neon displays, announced the featured movies. They illuminated the street with a touch of Broadway. We anxiously waited for Thursday mornings to see the new movies coming for the week.
A child's anticipation throughout the day was one of a happy day, because tonight we were going to the Drive-In.
We arrived early before the ticket booths open. A line of parked cars awaited anxiously for the ticket guy to open up the ticket booth. We wanted a good spot near the snack bar. When the attendant was seen arriving at the booth, cars quickly started their engines. Synching up the line to minimize spacing. Wow, what a deal. $1.75 per adult for 2 movies and special short subject features. My father was too cheap and sneaked us in when we were 13,14 years as a under 12 year old child free admittance.
I remember going in my pajamas. When I was younger, I couldn't make it through the second feature before falling asleep in the back seat. Going to the snack bar was a bit embarrassing donned in cowboy themed sleeping attire. My father would carefully carried my exhausted limp body securely to my own bed later. Being careful not to awaken me. And when I was old enough not to go in my PJ's. I was a big boy. That was my first mature transition from baby to boyhood.
In my boyhood years at the drive-ins, my duties were to clean the windshield when we first arrived. A chore I was eager to do. Pretending I was a gas station attendant. I would jokingly include an oil and radiator check with the used paper towels from the cleaning of the windshield. My brothers and sister would point out the spots I missed. On some colder nights, the vapors of our warm breaths would fog up the windshields. The defroster would momentarily be on to clear up the windshield.
We would also arrive early to play in the playground right under the big screen. Yes even in those said PJ's. The lights would flicker as a warning that the show was about to start. We hurried back to our cars, stopping between each row of cars, yielding to passing cars as they scurry to find their spots. If there was a late start of the previews, anxious movie goers would honk their horns in anticipation. Notifying and demanding the projectionist it is time to start the flick.
You got 2 movies, Outdated "News of the Week", a cartoon or two, maybe a short feature, and coming attractions. If you didn't get their for the first movie, you didn't worry because fit was repeated after the second feature. I remember those horrible sounding speakers. A quality only to be found at a Jack in the Box ordering speaker. Later came the technology to use your own car radios. The incipient of wi-fi.
I remember mostly the Victory drive-in, The Sunland Drive-in, (which is now a K-Mart), and Van Nuys drive-in with it's massive mural of the cowboy on a rearing horse. All in the San Fernando Valley of Smell A. My later years in San Diego county, I frequented the Aero and Santee Twin Drive-ins.
We brought our own KFC, pizza, snacks and popped our own popcorn. My dad was to cheap to buy inflated treats from the snack bar. Only on special occasions when my dad felt rich, that we were treated to real snack bar delights. We'd follow him humming the theme song, "LET'S ALL GO TO THE LOBBY, LET'S ALL GO TO THE LOBBY, AND GET OURSELVES A TREAT."
At times I went by myself. Dateless and not proud. The ticket booth attendant was always suspicious of a single male entering. He'd search the car for warm bodies sneaking in. Although remembering occasions when we did sneak in friends in the trunk, or on the floorboard in the back seat under blankets.
When I was older and going on dates, it was a different experience.
Pickups and vans aligned on the back rows. As to not obstruct others view of the giant screen. I remember one time at the Sunland Drive-in featuring the movie, The Graduate, I had to move my '56 Ford pick-up truck to the back row. My date was Kristie Richardson. I forgot to return the speaker to the post. While backing out, I shattered my window and yanked the post right out of the ground. When the pre-movie features started, people were leaving that row, fore we knocked out all the audio in that row. As a rule, the back row was reserved for high profile vehicles.
The back row was a special place to watch the flicks. Especially with dates. Single, or double dates with your best friend. We'd back up in the spot. With lawn chairs and blankets, we sat and laid in the bed of the the truck. Vans were backed up too with their double back doors wide opened.

Sam Hyde contacted me personally via deep dream AI telepathy and told me to upload this video incase YouTube took it down. Some behind the scenes footage from the filming of "World Peace". Should be an interesting watch. You should all download and reupload wherever you can.

This is a "live action trailer" I made for a game of mine, Citadale - Gate of Souls.

CItadale is a retro game styled after late 80s early 90s action games like Castlevania, Actraiser or Ninja Gaiden. It is available on the Nintendo eShop and stars Sonja Dorleac as the vampire hunting badass.

Since the game is retro, I thought it would only be fitting if the video is retro as well, so I styled the video after one of those late 80s early 90s game ad VHS casettes the companies used to give out. Everything is supposed to look and sound like a late 80s video production or a VHS of an old film.

I shot everything on a cold winter's day without any budget. It's kinda what I do^^

And please check out our podcast “Pop Culture Paradise” with Joey and Jeff. “Pop Culture Paradise” is a show all about exploring all the crazy entertainment that’s been put out into the universe. Both of us are 80s babies who grew up in the 90s. Of course we grew up in the 90s, it would be weird if we grew up in the 60s. I guess we could always be time travelers. I’ve always wanted to be Marty Mcfly. We could talk about anything really. We could be reviewing classic movies, current movies, coming up with elaborate theories, telling tales from the 80s to 2000s, talking about pickups or going to different events. We won’t pull punches on topics, but we also will give a counter argument. If you like the show, you can subscribe here if you like to watch in video form or on iTunes if you want to listen on the go (or at 1.5 speed, because you like us talking at a coke head’s pace).

Chapter 2:
https://youtu.be/zDqaoOkRQXE

A fanfiction story of an original character, Kilaria, that explores interesting (unexplored, and sometimes adult) ideas and themes mixed with nostalgic places, things, and characters from the Legend of Zelda canon. It is set in the Ocarina of Time timeline after the events of the game. In spirit, it is a mix between a novelization of the story beats of OoT mixed with a, sometimes poetic, documentary record of the compendium of items, mythological history, and characters within the Legend of Zelda story. It is told through the narrative of a young Hylian girl who wishes she was the Hero of Time, but clearly when tested, she is not.

Yours truly,
A loving fan of the LoZ

The Nostalgia Critic's review the 2000 feature film adaptation, but he prefer the classic 1966 TV film in animation. Sit back, enjoy & spare your time, yes, his review is done entirely in rhyme.
