RICKY NELSON - LONESOME TOWN (1958)

Ricky performs on the Ozzie and Harriet Show in 1958

There's a place where lovers go
To cry their troubles away
And they call it Lonesome Town
Where the broken hearts stay

You can buy a dream or two
To last you all through the years
And the only price you pay
Is a heart full of tears

Goin' down to Lonesome town
Where the broken hearts stay
Goin' down to Lonesome town
To cry my troubles away

In the town of broken dreams
The streets are filled with regret
Maybe down in Lonesome Town
I can learn to forget (To forget)

Maybe down in Lonesome Town
I can learn to forget
(Lonesome Town)

"Lonesome Town" is a song written by Baker Knight. A version sung by Ricky Nelson became a hit single in the United States, reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #15 on the R&B chart in 1958. The song was featured on his 1959 album, Ricky Sings Again. Nelson is accompanied on the recording by the vocal quartet The Jordanaires.

This song was a big change of pace for Nelson, who had been doing lots of upbeat pop songs. "Lonesome Town" is just his voice, his acoustic guitar, and backing vocals by The Jordainaires, who also sang on many of Elvis Presley's recordings. By recording such a dark and earnest song, Nelson showed another side of his personality - one that a lot of people didn't know about. "He connected with it plain and simple," Matthew Nelson told us. "It's really melancholy. And our pop identified with that, because he grew up famous and really deep down, even though he was a really affable, sweet guy, he told me he could never really tell who was in his life for the right reasons, as you can imagine. So he really tapped into the song."

The song has been covered by Paul McCartney, The Ventures, Shakin' Stevens, Chris Isaak, Richard Hawley, The Cramps, Jason Donovan, and others. It also shows up in television shows from time to time, sometimes even playing in a '50s diner with somebody ordering a milkshake, in a shout-out to Pulp Fiction.

Absolutely beautiful songs from the 40s, slowed and reverb and 432 hz. I own none of this content, I simply slowed and added reverb to these songs for your enjoyment, copyright infringement not intended.

Just a sampling of what I've been listing to lately. No particular reason or rhyme to the order. I guess the working theory is to listen to music and pull a track off every album I listen to that peeks my interest for whatever reason. Really, I'm just going through my music catalog and if I wouldn't share a song off an album here, out the door it goes. I personally hope that whoever listens to this will just listen and not cheat and look at the track list. Or skip over things out-of-hand. You can always thumbs down it later. This is a journey into sound thru it's many genres, (although not as wide a variety as may appear in future volumes) on any format I own physically (Record, Tape, CD). This is my brain digitized one track at a time. Hope you can struggle thru till the end.

Afterthought------- I started this series out of discouragement. I got tired of YouTube blocking songs and just completely killing any sense of flow that I was going for. Best example is Ep. 20 with AC/DC and all the AC/DC songs got blocked a month or so after upload. In all fairness it's not YouTubes fault. But when you can get the same song on YouTube posted by 7 different channels and mine gets blocked it just gets old. Another reason to start this series is to get to some of my music that's hard to get on a mix if you are starting off with a rock mentality. This series just seems to have freed up a lot of constraints I seem to impose on myself. At times the change over from song to song might be way off. All Apologizes. I've just grown tired of putting so much into a mix to have it get neutered in the end. I will go back to The 33rd Revolution series from time to time. But for now this is the direction I am going. Buckle-up some of this shit will get weird.

English:

This a fragment from the Movie " The Great Dictator" with Charlie Chaplin

The Great Dictator is a 1940 American political satire comedy-drama film written, directed, produced, scored by, and starring British comedian Charlie Chaplin

It is said that the speech was improvised, I believe he is channeling a very powerful message to humanity and the world we live in. This is a masterpiece which should be shared and spread worldwide

Old song, useful advice, great music.
Jimmy Soul was ames Louis McCleese, with roots in gospel music.
He died in 1988, at age 45 of a heart attack

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall
As soon as he marries her, then she starts
To do the things that will break his heart
But if you make an ugly woman your wife
You'll be happy for the rest of your life
An ugly woman cooks meals on time
She'll always give you peace of mind

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

Don't let your friends say
You have no taste
Go ahead and marry anyway
Though her face is ugly
Her eyes don't match
Take it from me she's a better catch

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

Say, man
Hey, baby
I saw your wife the other day
Yes
Yeah, she's ugly
Yeah, she's ugly but she sure can cook, baby
Yeah, alright

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

Originally performed by The Surfaris, recording in 1962, and the single debut in 1963. This is the closest I'll get to hard style on this song. If you want to push it harder, go get the archive of it.

I found this MIDI here: https://archive.org/download/archiveteam-geocities-midi-collection-2009.

The original composers are: Bob Berryhill, Pat Connolly, Jim Fuller and Ron Wilson

"Brand New Key" is a pop song written and sung by folk music singer Melanie. Initially a track of Melanie's album Gather Me, produced by Melanie's husband Peter Schekeryk, it was known also as "The Rollerskate Song" due to its chorus.
The song is sung from the viewpoint of a girl with roller skates trying to attract the attention of a boy.

Norma Cecilia Tanega (born 30 January 1939, Vallejo, California) was an American folk/pop singer. She was a camp counselor in the Catskills when she signed to New Voice Records in 1966. Her debut single, "Walkin' My Cat Named Dog", hit #22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart... But forget pop singles & novelty tunes! This is where it's at !
