A pilot from another airline helped land a Southwest Airlines flight Wednesday after its captain became "incapacitated" and required medical attention, forcing the plane to turn back to Las Vegas.

An off-duty pilot jumped into action Wednesday after a Southwest Airlines pilot suffered a medical emergency, mid-flight, airline officials said. Southwest Flight 6013 had just taken off for its trip between Las Vegas and Columbus, Ohio, around 6:33 a.m. when the pilot had a medical emergency, Southwest Airlines said in a statement. Crew members reported that the captain had stomach pain and fainted, according to air traffic control radio.
An off-duty pilot from a different airline, who was traveling as a passenger, entered the flight deck and assisted the crew with radio calls as they turned around and headed back to Las Vegas, according to Southwest.
They have not released his condition yet which means he probably is dead as a fart. Remember these guys are in tip top shape. Get checked every 6 months. But lately the standards have been lowered so that so many won't fail their physicals...yup.

Off-Duty Pilot Steps In To Help Land Southwest Flight 6013 After Pilot Becomes ‘Incapacitated’ "The captain became incapacitated while en route...we need to get him on an ambulance immediately"

On Wednesday, a Southwest Airlines flight was saved by a quick-thinking off-duty pilot when the aircraft’s captain suffered a medical emergency mid-flight.
The incident occurred during Southwest Flight 6013’s journey from Las Vegas to Columbus, Ohio, at approximately 6:33 a.m. The airline reported that the captain experienced stomach pain and fainted, as confirmed by air traffic control radio.
In response, an off-duty pilot from another airline, who happened to be a passenger on the same flight, sprang into action. They entered the cockpit and assisted the crew in making radio calls as the plane made an abrupt turn and returned to Las Vegas, according to Southwest Airlines.
“He is in the back of the aircraft right now with the flight attendants. But we need to get him on an ambulance immediately,” an unidentified pilot in the cockpit told air traffic controllers, according to air traffic audio, as reported by ABC News.

New Zealand hostage pilot appears in photos with armed West Papua rebels
Separatist fighters in Indonesia’s restive Papua region have released a series of images showing a pilot from New Zealand who was taken hostage more than a week ago.
The photos released on Tuesday show the pilot, identified by local police as Philip Mehrtens, standing fully clothed and apparently uninjured among a group of fighters who are holding guns, bows and arrows and other weapons.
Mehrtens was captured after landing a commercial Susi Air charter flight at Paro Airport in the remote highlands of the Nduga regency last week, with the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) claiming responsibility and saying it had burned his plane.
The group previously demanded that all incoming flights to Paro Airport be stopped and said the pilot would not be released until the Indonesian government acknowledged Papuan independence.
The TPNPB released the photos of Mehrtens on its Facebook page along with a statement reiterating its position.
“TPNPB has admitted the responsibility for the burning of the plane and taking hostage of a Susi Air pilot who is a citizen of New Zealand, and we keep our promise and are politically responsible,” it said in the statement.
