This is a new direction for me. Not fully comfortable with the talking parts yet. Hoping to become more relaxed as time goes by. I guess this program is suppose to be more like a radio show. Playing music from records as much as the condition and my musical tastes will allow. Mostly into 60's and 70's Rock, but I really listen to most any genre from 1940's to present. Please join me on PodBean or Goggle Podcasts for the rest of the show. And now for something completely different.

⁣Hello? (Hello? Hello? Hello?)
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?
Come on now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
I have become comfortably numb
Okay (okay, okay, okay)
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more, ah
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I have become comfortably numb

A 2012 BBC Arts Documentary narrated by John Edginton.

John Edginton's documentary explores the making of Pink Floyd's ninth studio album, Wish You Were Here, which was released in September 1975 and went on to top the album charts both in the UK and the US. Featuring new interviews with band members Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason alongside contributions from the likes of sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson and photographer Jill Furmanovsky, the film is a forensic study of the making of the follow-up to 1973's Dark Side of the Moon, which was another conceptual piece driven by Roger Waters. The album wrestles with the legacy of the band's first leader, Syd Barrett, who had dropped out of the band in 1968 and is eulogised in the album's centrepiece, Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Pink Floyd had become one of the biggest bands in the world, but the 60s were over and the band were struggling both to find their purpose and the old camaraderie.

A 2003 Arts Documentary Isis Production broadcasted as part of Classic Albums series.

Prior to 1973, Pink Floyd maintained a relentless gigging schedule and by the time they came to record "Dark Side Of The Moon" had already created many of the basic tracks. "Dark Side Of The Moon" would be the first Pink Floyd (post Syd Barrett) album where Roger Waters would supply all the lyrics around a concept: The Circle of Life. With the timeless qualities of its production and musicality, allied to the hypnotic evocation of its central themes - alienation, paranoia, madness, war and death, "Dark Side Of The Moon" would become the album that would dominate the 70's and 80's (with a record number of 741 consecutive weeks in the Billboard 200).

This program takes an in depth look at the making of the 1973 album. All four members of the band Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright are featured in exclusive interviews. Roger, David and Richard play songs and demonstrate themes from the album. Alan Parsons (the original engineer) takes you through the multi track tapes giving a unique insight into the musical fabric of the record and the program is illustrated throughout with archive footage. "Dark Side Of The Moon" with its combination of great songs, inventive effects and one of the best known sleeves ever, tapped into the world's collective subconscious and became a landmark in Rock history and a truly Classic Album.

The most phenomenal recording in rock & roll history is thoroughly examined in Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon. The Floyd's 1973 masterpiece remained on bestseller charts for nearly 14 years, and its enduring importance is honored here by all four members of Pink Floyd and key personnel (engineer Alan Parsons, mixing supervisor Chris Thomas, sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, and others) who played essential roles in the landmark album's creation. Produced for the Classic Albums series that originally aired on VH-1, this thorough and thought-provoking study highlights a track-by-track dissection of the LP's master tapes (including the spoken-word passages that bookend the album), superbly interlaced with archival footage, early demo tapes, concert animations, and latter-day acoustic performances by David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright to demonstrate each track's contribution to the final mix--a sonic exploration that extends to the illuminating bonus features. Informative interviews abound (including Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke), and much-deserved credit is given to saxophonist Dick Parry, solo vocalist Clare Torry, and former Capitol Records chairman Bhaskar Menon, who fostered the album's U.S. commercial success. For Floyd fans, musicians, and studio technicians alike, this is a must-have addition to any DVD library.

Martin Brown who, inspired by 'Musical Truth' and the work of David McGowan, set about looking into one of his favourite groups, Pink Floyd, to see what nefarious connections may lie beneath as possible clues as to just why this group became as phenomenally influential as they did.
All the group members, Martin asserts, come from incredibly posh backgrounds, and joining a rock band was not a natural career path for any of them. We discuss the Floyd's early role in helping to shape and define London's psychedelic counter-culture, the ensuing 'madness' of Syd Barrett, and the group's reinvention as bastions of the progressive rock scene.
We focus specifically on the extra-curricular activities of the outspoken and enigmatic Roger Waters, questioning how sincere or otherwise his actions may be.
Martin is collating his extensive research on aspects of Floyd conspicuously missing from official biographies, into an upcoming book.

2 - Welcome to the Machine
3 - Have a Cigar
4 - Wish You Were Here
5 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Pts. 6-9

Wish You Were Here is the ninth studio album from English rock band Pink Floyd.

The follow-up to their legendary album The Dark Side Of The Moon, its genesis was marked by the band’s disorientation following their rise to planetary exposure.

Finding it difficult to figure out what to do with their creative future and physically worn out by extensive touring, the band members entered a state where they would reflect on the past, and most notably Pink Floyd founder-gone-mad Syd Barrett.

This resulted in powerful lyrics from Roger Waters about failure to find one’s place in society and difficulty to find oneself at some point in life (especially in the title track); it also brought to existence the lengthy and unforgettable “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, a homage to Syd Barrett that opens and closes the record, making up half of its duration.

Wish You Were Here has an overal melancholy feel, yet its melodic density, powerful guitar solos by David Gilmour and heavy use of Richard Wright’s keyboards provide a very colourful listening experience.

Although they had approached it with quite a bit of a writer’s block, the band members have often voiced their satisfaction with the final result. Keyboardist Richard Wright and guitarist David Gilmour have stated that Wish You Were Here is their favourite Pink Floyd album.

This mix is intended to be listened to without knowing the upcoming track, so try not to peek or skip ahead. The working theme to this series is to highlight an artist with three songs. Then riff off and mix in whatever song I feel flows with the previous song. And hopefully ending with the artist I started with and make a nice cyclic mix. Sometimes I fail, and end up in a strange place. But that can lead to some interesting musical discoveries. All songs from record. Youtube has a way of derailing my flow with a copyright block. That's why I started a Mixcloud account. The complete mix can be found there. If you want to hear the real direction of this mix please give it a listen. If you just need a musical fix and like a vinyl feel, this will scratch the itch. Enjoy.

'Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Mother do you think they'll like this song?
Mother do you think they'll try to break my balls?
Mother should I build the wall?
Mother should I run for president?
Mother should I trust the government?
Mother will they put me in the firing line?
Mother am I really dying?

Hush now baby, baby, dont you cry.
Mother's gonna make all your nightmares come true.
Mother's gonna put all her fears into you.
Mother's gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She wont let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Mama will keep baby cozy and warm.
Ooooh baby ooooh baby oooooh baby,
Of course mama'll help to build the wall.

Mother do you think she's good enough -- to me?
Mother do you think she's dangerous -- to me?
Mother will she tear your little boy apart?
Mother will she break my heart?

Hush now baby, baby dont you cry.
Mama's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you.
Mama wont let anyone dirty get through.
Mama's gonna wait up until you get in.
Mama will always find out where you've been.
Mama's gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Ooooh baby oooh baby oooh baby,
You'll always be baby to me.

Lyrics -
"You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you
get older.
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw
around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this
maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone."

Tracey Naughton says, "This played at my dad's funeral. This is the first time I've been able to listen to it for almost 4 years."

I think it's important to keep death in perspective when you wake up each morning. Funerals are powerful reminders.

Another woman writes, "I lost my husband in 2013. He served in the Marine Corps for 20 years. I had this song played at his funeral. Wish you were here, Jimbo."

Misty writes: "To the most important man in my life John Suttle, you were, are and always will be everything to me. R.I.P. 1970 - 2019."

The comments really amplify the song.

Sometimes people say Christianity is a death cult.

In my opinion most don't think enough about death. There's something so powerful about seeing someone you love a year, a month, an hour before they die. In those moments you reconnect with the best parts of who you are.

Remastered DVD source. Hard to find the entire movie on Youtube these days.

First time I ever saw this was on mushrooms with my best friend and it still affects me to this day. Highly recommend watching it in a similar state of mind. Cheers

Waiting to cut out the deadwood
Waiting to clean up the city
Waiting to follow the worms

Waiting to put on a black shirt
Waiting to weed out the weaklings
Waiting to smash in their windows
And kick in their doors
Waiting for the final solution
To strengthen the strain
Waiting to follow the worms

Waiting to turn on the showers
And fire the ovens
Waiting for the queens and the coons
And the reds and the Jews
Waiting to follow the worms
