Truth In Scripture Pastor Rick Kabrick Sunday, September 24, 2023 The Plagues of Egypt continue. Locusts and Darkness. Pharoah’s heart is hardened as he continues to reject the LORD GOD.

The plagues also answered Pharaoh’s original question: Who is the LORD, this YHVH that I, the Pharoah should obey HIS voice to let Israel go?
Some of the plagues also struck at the heart of Egyptian worship, especially at their priests. The Egyptian priesthood was extremely careful about hygiene and ritual cleansing; and this plague of lice made them unable or unclean so that they could not worship their gods.
God raised Pharaoh to rule Egypt, knowing he would be a tyrant to His people. God also raised Moses to go to Pharaoh and deliver His people from slavery bondage. Moses and the Hebrew slaves did not know their God as of yet. To deliver them, God sends Pharroh His ten judgments upon his land and people to demonstrate His power. With each plague, Pharaoh refused, and his heart continually hardened. He began to repent a little but ultimately trusted in his sorcerers and magicians to perform similar miracles but using magic and dark arts. God revealed His true power and glory to all people in the land. He made gnats out of the dust of the ground like he created Adam. God protected the Hebews while taking judgment upon Pharaoh and his people. Pharaoh's magicians and sorcerers gave up as they could not perform their tricks to keep up with God's demonstration of miracles happening before their eyes. They also ended up getting sick with boils.
Exodus is a typology of what is happening today with modern-day Pharaohs entangled with Pharmacia and sorcery to deceive the whole world. God allowed the modern-day plagues to be a judgment on the wicked while protecting His people. We are at this time in Exodus to repeat itself. We are enslaved in the beast system ruled by hardened Pharaohs. God will demonstrate His power once again to save His people.

After plagues of blood and frogs, Pharaoh hardened his heart again and would not let the Israelites leave Egypt. God told Moses to tell Aaron to stretch forth his rod and strike the dust of the earth that it may become gnats throughout the land of Egypt.

This Torah portion covers Ex. 10:1 – Ex. 13:6. We will look at the last plagues of judgement that come upon Egypt and YHWH gives instructions for the Passover. Passover originated with Melchizedek. It is a Melchizedek Covenant Ordinance.
1. We should observe Passover as explained in His Word. We must also be aware, that there are differences in the observance of Passover determined by whether the people were under the BoL or New Covenant.
2. We should not follow the feasts observed by the traditions of men, otherwise, we would find ourselves celebrating the feasts and the sacrifice of Cain when we should really be celebrating the sacrifice of Able; counterfeit vs. proper.
3. We will see that the Passover is identified as the ‘night of watches,’ and the feast of fleeing.

Today’s Torah portion is Va’era which is Hebrew for ‘I appeared.’ This study covers Exodus 6 – Exodus 9:35. As I have stated many times before, YHWH has appeared in our atmosphere throughout time. He is omnipresent; omniscient, and omnipotent.
We have already seen that He appeared to Moses as a flame in the burning bush; soon He will lead His people out of Egypt as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night; Deuteronomy tells us YHWH is a consuming fire; at other times He appears in the likeness of man with anthropomorphic ‘human-like’ traits. He is present in battles as hail stones are cast and strike only the enemy; the “Chariot of Israel” appears in our atmosphere and catches Elijah away; soon we will read about YHWH descending on Mt. Sinai with flames, thunders, and lightnings; Yahusha appeared on the Mount of transfiguration with Moses and Elijah on the 7th day of the Feast of Tabernacles.
My point is this. He is the ‘I am that I am.’ He has always existed. He is the Alpha and the Omega; the Aleph and the Tav; He is in your very hands when you hold His Word; His creations encompass us every day.
At times, His appearing is more obvious than at other times, but He is present at all times. He will never leave us or forsake us. YHWH has a word for all of us in this Torah portion.

in combination with the other signs, it’s very telling.
◦ So world wars, famine, plagues, and earthquakes are signs we are near the
end of the age. All these have been increasing in the past century.
• They follow the pattern of birth pangs, getting worse and more
frequent as time goes on
• For those who know their Bible, these events are completely
understandable and in fact were told to us in advance
• But the unbelieving world has no recognition of these things,
and in fact they would like to believe it’s all temporary

back to the life we knew before
• But the Christian who knows his or her Bible realizes this is the
new normal and there’s no going back
• Like a mother preparing to give birth, once the birth pangs start
there is no stopping until that child is delivered
• So once the signs of the end of the age begin, there is no turning
back and no stopping until the age ends and the new age comes
• We are on a one-way trip to Jesus’ return
• So for us who read these truths in Scripture and see the events in our world
today, we should be encouraged and excited even
◦ The pages of the Bible are coming alive right before our eyes and we
know that the Kingdom age is right around the corner
• We aren’t wishing for death, neither for ourselves nor for the rest
of the world
• We want to live as long as the Lord allows, and we certainly prefer
to live in a peaceful, calm world
◦ But sooner or later there will be a generation of believers who live at the
end of the age, and that generation will know these turbulent times.
• And that generation will be privileged to experience things that
earlier generations could only barely imagine
• That generation will see the prophecies of the Bible coming true
before their eyes
• And that experience builds faith… if you understand what you
see
