The Pittsburg Police Department released body cameras, camera surveillance video of an Officer Involved in a Fatal Shooting of 31-year-old Patrick Watkins that occurred on May 20, 2021, 09:21 P.M.
2300 Block of Loveridge Road, Pittsburg CA

on May 20, 2021 evening, Pittsburg Police Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Loveridge Road regarding Watkins holding a handgun, banging on the front door of the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child.

When officers arrived, they contacted Watkins as he was seated on a stairway leading to the second-floor apartment. Officers asked Watkins to walk down the stairs and speak with them, but he ignored their commands and began walking back up the stairs away from the officers. Officers followed Watkins up the stairs and continued to ask him to stop and not walk away.

As Watkins reached the top of the stairs, officers observed he was in possession of a handgun in his right hand. Officers directed Watkins to get on the ground and drop the handgun.

Watkins turned towards the officers and pointed the handgun directly at them. Officer Odell then used his service weapon, striking Watkins in the upper torso, and causing Watkins immediately to fall to the ground, still holding the handgun in his right hand. After Officer Odell used his service weapon, he (Officer Odell) dropped down onto the stairway.

As Officer Simpson approached the top of the stairway, he observed Watkins still pointing the handgun at officers. Officer Simpson then used his service weapon. Officers moved to a safe location at the bottom of the stairway.

Following the shooting, officers continued speaking with Watkins, asking him to drop the handgun so they could provide him with medical attention. Watkins did not respond.

After nearly 40 minutes of attempting to get Watkins to put down the handgun, officers used ballistic shields to safely walk up to Watkins and take the handgun from his right hand. Officers then started life saving measures with paramedics.

Unfortunately, Watkins died at the scene due to his injuries.

A Walther .22 Caliber handgun was recovered from Watkins’s right hand. While the handgun Watkins had in his possession was found to be unloaded, there was a live round for the handgun located next to him.

The officers involved in the incident are members of the Pittsburg Police Department Patrol Team and identified as Officer John Odell and Office r Greg Simpson. Officer Odell has been a Pittsburg Police Officer for two and a half years and Officer Simpson has been a Pittsburg Police Officer for over five years.

WOODLAWN, Md --- Official Baltimore County Police released 3 body cameras of critical fatal incident that occurred on May 8 around 6:40 a.m., numerous calls for service were received in the 7500 block of Maury Road. Callers stated that a subject was shooting at people in the neighborhood; some callers also stated a structure in the neighborhood was on fire.

The Omaha Police department released body camera of an officer involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on November 19, 2020, at 7:27 p.m., Uniformed Omaha Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 27th and Harrison Street. As the officers were getting out of their marked patrol car, their Body Worn Cameras (BWC) captured the officers yelling "stop reaching!" The backseat passenger, later identified as Kenneth JONES, 30, can be seen moving around as the officers walked towards the car. The officers yelled, "everybody, hands up" as they walked to the vehicle. There were four individuals in the car, and everyone but JONES complied by putting their hands outside the car windows. The officers repeated three times for everyone to put their hands up. The officer on the driver's side tried to open JONES' door several times while yelling at him to "open the door!" The officer used his flashlight to break out the car window to get the door opened. Once the door was opened, the officer yelled to JONES to "get out of the car!" The officer reached in to grab JONES, just as JONES turned and began moving towards the passenger side of the vehicle. BWC shows JONES continued to pull away from the officers as they pull him from the vehicle.

The cruiser camera shows the officers struggling to get JONES from the vehicle. Once JONES is out of the car, an officer is heard saying, "keep your hands where I can see them!" The officer then says, "Watch his right hand! He's digging! He's digging! He's got a gun! He's got a gun!" The officer yelled "Gun! Gun! Gun!" Seconds later, four shots are fired. JONES fell to the ground and continued moving as the officers yelled for him to "show his hands." One of the officers contacted dispatch, telling them of the shots fired, and requested a squad to their location. The officers then begin performing CPR on JONES. A loaded Springfield .45 caliber handgun, with a round in the chamber, was found on the ground, directly underneath JONES. A squad transported JONES to the University of Nebraska Medical Center Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The decedent has been identified as Kenneth JONES, B/M, dob 7/17/85.
An autopsy later showed that Jones’ urine and blood tested positive for phencyclidine, or PCP, a hallucinogen.

Update: November 21, 2020
Officer Dan FAULKNER is a 29-year old veteran who has been with the Omaha Police Department since 2016. Officer Richard MARTIER is a 31-year old veteran who has been with the Omaha Police Department since 2016.

On Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 7:27 p.m. Omaha Police Officer MARTIER, who was driving, and FAULKNER, the passenger officer, said they were traveling south on 27th Street by Strafford Square Apartments when they saw a Dodge Charger southbound on 27th Street, stopped in the middle of the road. The officers said the vehicle's hazard lights were not on.
The officers said they watched as the vehicle would drive forward a couple of feet and stop, and then drive forward again. The officers said the car continued this action for half of a block, so officers turned on their overhead lights to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of 27th and Harrison Streets. Both officers thought the driver might be impaired, but they did not know, so a traffic stop was conducted.

The officer's statement regarding the traffic stop, verbal commands, and contact with the occupants, including removing JONES from the vehicle, is consistent with what was captured on BWC and Mobile Video Recorder. Both officers also described the struggle with JONES and their repeated verbal commands. The reason JONES was the only occupant removed from the vehicle was because he was the only one who did not comply with the officer's orders to put his hands in the air. In addition, he was concealing his hands, which was causing the officers safety concerns.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer

This incident started around 8:00pm, when an adult male suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Jose Arenas, threatened multiple people with a handgun and attempted to rob them.

Patrol officers from the Maryvale Precinct and a police helicopter were nearby when 9-1-1 began receiving calls about Arenas pointing a handgun at multiple people. When officers arrived, they searched the area and located Arenas outside a nearby restaurant, where he was pointing a gun at a family in a car, and at the police helicopter.

Officers told Arenas to drop the gun, but he refused. He fled into the restaurant which was occupied by multiple people. Once inside he pointed the gun and assaulted two customers. An officer followed Arenas into the restaurant and gave another command to drop the gun, which Arenas ignored. He pointed the handgun at the officer, and the officer fired at Arenas, striking him.

After checking the back area of the restaurant, Officers provided medical aid to Arenas until Phoenix Fire Personnel arrived and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. There were no injuries to any of the victims or the officers.

The handgun used by Arenas was recovered on scene.

The officer involved in this shooting is assigned to the Maryvale Precinct, Patrol Division, and has been with the department for 2 years.

Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete. An internal investigation by the Professional Standard Bureau is currently underway, in addition to a criminal investigation. Once the criminal investigation is complete it will then be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

On April 12, 2021, at 12:11pm

She informed Columbus Police that Jackson has an open domestic violence warrant out of case #21 CRB 2113, with additional warrants for assault, falsification, resisting arrest, drug possession, and weapons under disability
(Note: weapons under disability is a criminal charge meaning a person possessed a firearm when they had been legally prohibited from doing so by a court of law. In Jackson’s case, this was based on a prior felony conviction.)

Into the video, Officers Krichbaum and Howe are seen preparing Jackson for transport to the Franklin County jail.

a struggle between the officers and Jackson begins.

into video, Jackson’s gun is fired. The bullet visibly exits the left pocket of his sweatpants. Officer Krichbaum is seen struggling to disarm Jackson. Officer Howe is seen firing his weapon. Officer Howe’s weapon malfunctions as Officer Krichbaum continues to struggle with Jackson.
Over the next nearly five minutes of video
, at least four officers and security personnel can be heard
no less than 85 times ordering Jackson tod rop the gun and put his hands up.
A taser is deployed, followed by one gunshot, then a series of gunshots.

Jackson was killed in the shooting.

No other injuries were reported.

Luna County, NM - On February 4, 2021, New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup on Interstate 10 eastbound, near mile marker 102 east of Deming, New Mexico.

During the traffic stop, Officer Jarrott asked the driver, identified as Omar Felix Cueva, 39, of Deming to exit the vehicle. Cueva exited the driver’s side holding an AR-15-style rifle and fired at least one shot at Officer Jarrott as he was walking to the rear of the vehicle. Officer Jarrott ducked and fell onto his back as Cueva ran around the back of the pickup toward Officer Jarrott. Cueva fired several more rounds at Officer Jarrott who was struck by gunfire and killed. As Cueva ran toward the front of the truck on the passenger’s side, he shot Officer Jarrott point-blank in the back of the head. A Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent arrived on scene and notified New Mexico State Police dispatch that an officer was down. A broadcast was put out to state and local law enforcement agencies. New Mexico State Police Officers Lionel Palomares and Sonny Montes located Cueva traveling east on Interstate 10 near mile marker 116. Cueva pulled over and fired at Officers Palomares and Montes. The officers returned fire at Cueva who continued to evade officers, traveling east on Interstate 10.

As Cueva fled eastbound on Interstate 10, law enforcement officers from the Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD), the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office (DASO), and U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) assisted New Mexico State Police with the pursuit. Near the Picacho exit on Interstate 10, (near mile marker 135), NMSP officers successfully utilized tire deflation devices on Cueva’s pickup. Cueva continued to flee east on Interstate 10. Various law enforcement officers engaged Cueva in gunfire as he fled. DASO Deputy Jerod Huston fired rounds from his department issued rifle near the mile marker 136. DASO Deputy John Signore fired at Cueva near the mile marker 138 eastbound. Near mile marker 139, USBP Agent Oscar Delgado fired one round at Cueva as he passed. LCPD Officer Adrian De La Garza then utilized a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver near mile marker 140. Prior to the pickup coming to a stop, Cueva exited the pickup armed with a firearm and shot multiple rounds towards the officers and deputies. LCPD Officer Adrian De La Garza and DASO Deputies Diego Herrera and Obed Marte returned fire towards Cueva, who was struck several times by gunfire. Officer De La Garza was struck by gunfire and was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Texas where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers rendered aid to Cueva until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene. Cueva sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.

This investigation is active and being led by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau. The officers have the following years of service: NMSP Officer Palomares-8 years of service, Officer Montes-6 years of service, LCPD Officer De La Garza-17 years of service, DASO Deputy Jared Huston-16 years of service, Deputy John Signore-13 years of service, Deputy Marte-11 years of service, Deputy Diego Herrera-19 years of service, USBP Agent Delgado-11 years of service.

Officer Darian Jarrott began his career as a Transportation Inspector with NMDPS. He was certified as a law enforcement officer in December of 2014 and worked with the former Motor Transportation Division of NMDPS. In July of 2015, he was sworn in as a New Mexico State Police officer where he bravely served until the day of the shooting. Officer Jarrott leaves behind 3 small children and was expecting his fourth child this year.

Officer Darian Jarrott was laid to rest on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg during a private burial.

In the interest of providing our community with as much information as possible, Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon ordered the release of a Critical Incident Video detailing a tragic incident that occurred on February 4, 2021 in the community of Alta Sierra.
The video contains 9-1-1 calls, radio traffic between dispatchers and deputies, and multiple in-car dashboard cameras.
The incident began with 9-1-1 call from a concerned resident after she saw a mother and two young children walking on Alta Sierra Drive. Multiple deputies responded and located 33-year-old Ariella Crawford and her children. She immediately became upset and produced a knife. As the video and audio illustrates, efforts to de-escalate the situation were not successful. Ultimately, she charged at a deputy while holding the knife and a second deputy discharged his service weapon. Ms. Crawford died at the hospital of her injuries.
When we have a critical incident, the goal of the Sheriff’s Office is to be open and transparent. The investigation, led by the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office at the request of Sheriff Moon, is still underway.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office --- A little before 8:15 p.m. on January 15, 2021, members of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) were conducting a follow-up investigation regarding a possible gang-related shooting in the southern region of Sacramento County. During the investigation, evidence gathered led detectives to a location in Carmichael near Ranger Way and Rampart Drive.

Detectives located a vehicle connected to the investigation, occupied by at least two subjects. Gang Detectives attempted to contact the occupants of the vehicle. At some point during the contact, multiple shots were fired striking one detective and the suspect. Fire personnel responded; however, upon arrival, they pronounced the suspect identified as 25-year-old Kershawn Geiger, deceased at the scene. The wounded detective was transported from the scene to an area hospital for treatment.

Detectives say he was a 25-year-old Kershawn Geiger, a known of the 24th Street Crips gang member with a history of serious crimes. He was on parole at the time.

Multiple regional agencies assisted and established a perimeter of the surrounding area. Neighboring residents were advised to stay inside. After several hours of searching, the tactical teams were unable to locate any additional subjects involved in the incident.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses and processing evidence. This investigation is still in its early stages and information is still developing.

The wounded detective remains hospitalized in serious, but stable condition and is expected to survive. The detective is 47 years old and a 15-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. The detective has held several assignments within the Sheriff’s Office including his current assignment in the Gang Suppression Unit.

The other occupant of the vehicle during the time of the incident was arrested and later booked at Sacramento County Main Jail on felony charges unrelated to this incident.

The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video which includes information, audio, video and pictures related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred on December 28, 2020, in the area of 27th Ave. and Orangewood Ave.

This incident started at approximately 8:45 p.m., when a woman called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend was in the patio of her apartment and was refusing to leave. The caller also informed the 911 operator that he had been violent in the past with her and that he was causing problems for her.

The caller identified the man as 30-year-old, Jordan Crawford.

The officers arrived and the suspect was no longer at the apartment and they began to look for the Crawford.

Within minutes, Crawford was found walking through an open area of the apartment complex. An officer called out to Crawford to detain him but Crawford did not stop and told the officer that he had a gun as he placed his right hand behind his rear waistband area.

Crawford and the officer continued to talk and walk through the complex. The officer told Crawford to show him his hands, which he refused and continued to walk backwards from officers. The interaction between the officers and Crawford continued onto 27th Avenue.

Vehicle traffic stopped just missing Crawford as he crossed the street. Officers were able to contain him as he reached the east sidewalk. Once he got to the sidewalk Crawford stopped and leaned forward and began to yell with his hand behind his back. He began to count down and when he got to one, he swiftly pulled his hand from his back and the officers reacted to the threat.

Officers deployed less lethal munition to safely approach Crawford in an effort to administer first aid.

During the investigation a weapon was not recovered.

The five officers involved in this incident are all assigned to the Cactus park precinct. There were no injuries to officers or any other community members.

This incident is the subject of both an internal and a criminal investigation, which will be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete.

An armed suspect who fled from police this afternoon in Port Orange shot and wounded a New Smyrna Beach police officer before police and a Volusia sheriff’s deputy returned fire, killing him. The NSB police officer was taken to a hospital and is recovering from his injury.

Two Volusia sheriff’s deputies opened their hearts and their wallets early Wednesday to help an Orlando mom who was found at a gas station in New Smyrna Beach with no money for a place to stay, nor a second car seat to travel safely with her two small daughters.

Deputies learned of the family’s plight from an off-duty Seminole sheriff’s deputy who said the woman was observed driving with an infant on her lap and then looking for help at the BP station at State Road 44/County Road 415.

The woman told Volusia deputies she was traveling to the beach for a few days and planned to rent an Airbnb in New Smyrna Beach, using her debit card to pay for it. But she said she had no money because her debit card and ID had been stolen in Orlando. She said she was asking for money to buy gas.

After Deputy Brady Bergeron noticed her car contained only one car seat for a toddler and no seat for her 5-month-old infant, the woman said she had no way to pay for a car seat and no friends or family that could help her.

So Deputy Bergeron went to Wal-Mart and bought a car seat for the baby to travel in. He installed the new car seat and safely adjusted the existing car seat for her 2-year-old sister. Food and water were provided from the BP station.

After determining the family had no place to stay for the night, VSO Sgt. Austin Hairston followed suit and made arrangements for the family to stay at a hotel in Edgewater. Deputies followed the family to the hotel where they helped them check in.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood commended the dedication and generosity of the deputies who stepped in to help a citizen in need. All involved will be receiving letters of commendation.

The San Leandro Police Department released body camera (3) of an officer involved shooting that occurred on October 24, 2020, about 9:15PM, San Leandro Police Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Silver Sedan for traffic violations in the area of 148th Avenue and Wake Avenue. The sedan failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit continued for several blocks and ended when the Sedan stopped near the intersection of 137th Avenue and School Street. The driver of the sedan immediately ran away on foot and fled into backyard of a residence in the 1700 block of 137th Avenue.

A firearm was discovered during the search of the sedan. Additional San Leandro Police Officers responded to area and, after an exhaustive search, the driver of the sedan was not located. Subsequently, the search for the driver was cancelled.
Acting on the belief that the driver of sedan was still hiding somewhere in the 1700 block of 137th Avenue, two uniformed police officers got an undercover police vehicle and began driving through the neighborhood in an effort to locate the driver.

About 11:55PM, the officers were parked on 137th Avenue just east of Bancroft Avenue when unbeknownst to them an unrelated silver vehicle pulled up behind them and suddenly stopped. As the officers began to exit the undercover vehicle to contact the driver of this uninvolved vehicle, the driver, later identified as John Berry 43, years old, who was still seated in the driver’s seat raised a firearm above the dashboard and in the direction of the officers.

Both officers immediately saw the driver raise the firearm in their direction and used their service weapons striking Berry man multiple times in his upper torso. Officers provided first aid to Berry until the arrival of paramedics. He was later transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
As with all officer involved shootings, the department will be conducting a complete multi-level review. The officers involved were placed on administrative leave which is standard protocol in any officer involved shooting.
No officers sustained any injuries and a semi-automatic firearm was recovered at the scene.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will also conduct an independent investigation of the incident, as they do with all officer involved shootings that result in injury or death.

It remains important to note that we are in the early stages of this investigation and more information will bring additional clarity to what happened.

The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting which occurred in the overnight hours of October 22, 2020 near 35th Avenue and Washington Avenue.

Around 1:00 a.m. a security guard called 911 and reported seeing a man, later identified as 21-year-old Carlos A. Rodriguez, arguing with a woman in an apartment complex parking lot. During the argument, the security heard gunfire and believed Rodriguez shot at him and another security guard. The guard was able to get a detailed description of the vehicle before it fled from the apartment complex parking lot.

While the 911 call was being dispatched, officers from the Cactus Park Precinct Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) reported hearing gunfire and seeing a silver vehicle leaving the apartment complex at a high rate of speed. The vehicle matched the description given by the security guard.

The NET officers were in a marked police Tahoe. They tried using emergency lights and sirens to stop Rodriguez, but he took off, leading officers on a short pursuit.

The vehicle ran into a car at the intersection of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road, but continued driving south on 35th Avenue despite tire damage. Rodriguez lost control of the car as it turned onto Washington Street from 35th Avenue, crashing into the curb and a fence.

As officers drove up to the vehicle, the woman ran out from the passenger side, screaming for help. Officers saw Rodriguez run from the car, armed with a rifle. Rodriguez shot at the officers and one officer returned fire, striking Rodriguez, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers approached Rodriguez with a ballistic shield since he was still within arm’s length of the rifle.

As the officers began their approach the suspect continued to move toward the rifle, so officers used a stunt bag to keep him away from the rifle. This less lethal shotgun is equipped with stunbag projectiles.

Once officers arrived, the man was hand-cuffed, and officers rendered medical aid by placing a tourniquet on the suspect’s left leg. Phoenix Fire Personnel transported Rodriguez to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rodriguez had outstanding Felony warrants and once released from the hospital will be booked for aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, and unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement.

The woman seen running from the vehicle knows the suspect. She was not injured.

There were no additional community members or officers injured during this incident.

The officer involved in this shooting is assigned to the Cactus Park Precinct Neighborhood Enforcement Team and has been with the department for four years.

The Tucson Police Department released multiple body camera of fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on October 28 afternoon on Tucson’s South Side.

On October 28, 2020, just before 3:30 p.m., officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to 1550 W. Valencia Road for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim near his vehicle. While speaking with him, officers learned the victim was attempting to pull out of the parking lot when he was confronted by a male armed with a handgun. During the confrontation, the suspect fired his weapon striking the victim’s vehicle and fled from the area. Responding officers began searching the area for the suspect. During their search, officers were flagged down by a second victim at 6441 S. Midvale Park Road. The second victim advised officers that the armed male approached him and pointed a handgun at him before running towards the Santa Cruz Riverbed.

As the search for the suspect continued towards the riverbed, officers heard two gunshots fired in their direction. Officers then saw the suspect in the riverbed with a handgun. Officers gave numerous commands to the suspect to drop the weapon and he responded by pointing the handgun in the direction of officers. One of the officers at the scene then discharged his weapon striking the suspect. A team of officers entered the riverbed and approached the suspect. Upon contact, the suspect was found with gunshot trauma and declared deceased. The suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Charles Robert Arviso. Next of kin has been notified.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Violent Crimes Unit and sergeants with the department’s Office of Professional Standards Unit are investigating the incident. The Violent Crimes Unit is conducting the criminal portion of the investigation, while the Office of Professional Standards Unit conducts a separate, but parallel administrative investigation to examine the actions of department personnel. This is standard protocol in all officer-involved shootings.

The officer who discharged his weapon has been identified as Officer John Knowlton, a 19-year-veteran of the Tucson Police Department.
Additional details will be released as they become available. Thankfully, no officers or other community members were injured during this incident. Details are limited at this time as detectives continue their investigation.

Henderson Police Department Investigating Armed Robbery/Kidnapping Resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting:

On October 15, 2020, at 6:10 pm, Henderson Police Officers responded to the area of East Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway to investigate the report of a kidnapping/armed robbery, which ultimately ended in an officer discharging his firearm, striking the suspect seven times.
During the initial news briefing, it was reported that the suspect exited his vehicle with a firearm in his hand, which resulted in the officer-involved shooting. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect did not exit the vehicle armed with a firearm. It was determined that the suspect discarded the firearm prior to the accident. A loaded firearm was located on the roadway along the path of the pursuit. Investigators believe that this is the firearm that the suspect had in his possession during the kidnapping/robbery and the firearm the officer saw in the suspect’s hand during the vehicle pursuit. This handgun was recovered and impounded by investigators.
Based upon these findings, the suspect, David Flores Jr., has been charged with the following offenses:
1st Degree Kidnapping w/a Deadly Weapon
Robbery w/a Deadly Weapon
Attempt Robbery w/a Deadly Weapon
Assault on a Protected Person w/a Deadly Weapon
Driver Disobeying a Peace Officer/Endangering other Persons/Property
Possession of a Gun with an Altered/Removed Serial Number
Ex-Felon Possession of a Firearm
Flores was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition expected to survive. His booking photo is not available at this time.
These are the details known at this point in the investigation. However, it is important to reiterate that the investigation is still ongoing. We will continue to investigate all the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident diligently and will provide any significant updates as they become available.
The department is preparing a Critical Incident Community Briefing that will provide the details related to this incident. We expect this to be completed and released in the next week.
This is the fifth officer-involved shooting in 2020.
The involved Henderson Police Officer remains on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Walter Williams was shot by police after approaching them wielding a knife. As the police shooting checked the correct racial box, riots naturally ensued in the west Philadelphia area and one individual used his truck and ran over police and attempted vehicle killer manslaughter.
As these riots continue, as the Democrats actively promote division in America in order to gain power, the bonds which unite our republic are fraying rapidly.

On January 5, 2020, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Officer Nicholas Lawson (“Officer
Lawson”) attempted to perform a traffic stop on a stolen car. The car fled at high speeds, hit
another car and then ultimately crashed into a concrete pole of a pedestrian overpass. When
Officer Lawson approached the suspect vehicle, the backseat passenger pointed a rifle at him. In
fear for his life, Officer Lawson opened fire, wounding the backseat passenger who pointed the
firearm at him and killing the front seat passenger, Kwame Jones.
The details are as follows: On January 5, 2020, at 9:19 p.m., Officer Lawson attempted to
perform a traffic stop on a stolen car for careless driving and taillight violations. Officer Lawson
advised over the radio that he was in pursuit of a possibly impaired driver. After Officer
Lawson turned on his emergency lights, the driver of the car sped off and turned off the
Page 2 of 6
headlights. The driver fled, drove into oncoming traffic at a speed of 70 mph1, ran a red light at
Moncrief and 45th Street, struck another vehicle in the intersection, and crashed into a
pedestrian overpass.
When Officer Lawson arrived at the crash, he got out of his vehicle and commanded the
occupants to exit the car. Officer Lawson described an “assault rifle-type firearm” pointed
directly at him by the backseat passenger on the driver’s side. This passenger was Joseph Carter
(“Carter”). Officer Lawson fired at Carter until the firearm was no longer pointed at him and
Carter moved to the passenger side of the car. At the time of the shooting, the driver, Bobby
Whitty (“Whitty”), had already fled from the car. Officer Lawson’s bullets struck Carter and
the front seat passenger, Kwamae Jones (“Jones”), wounding Carter and killing Jones.

San Juan County Sheriff's Office, NM

An officer-involved shooting that took place on August 31 resulting in the death of 36-year-old Marco Benito of Albuquerque. The shooting took place off County Road 3177 following a series of criminal events.
At approximately 7:50am, local law enforcement agencies started getting reports of crimes being committed with a stolen Dodge Ram truck with a trailer. Later, a black SUV was also stolen and was also used to commit crimes at residences, all in the area of Southside River Road. These crimes included forced entry burglary and larceny while the victims were still in their homes, one of which had a 9-year-old boy home alone. Deputies with the San Juan County Sheriff’s office located the suspect, later identified as Benito, around 8:39 a.m. in the stolen SUV and followed him until he pulled off the road, abandoned the vehicle and hid in an irrigation ditch.
Deputies and officers located Benito and gave him numerous verbal commands to surrender. Benito threatened deputies and officers stating he had a firearm and refused to show his hands. Benito’s actions and body language became more aggressive making law enforcement believe he was going to brandish a firearm and become an immediate danger to deputies, officers and the public. A deputy fired his weapon striking Benito in the torso. Once the scene was deemed safe, law enforcement immediately removed him from the water and initiated life-saving measures. Medics arrived a short time later, however, Benito succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement searched the scene and located items reported stolen earlier in the day. A firearm was not located. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that one deputy fired his weapon in accordance with San Juan County Sheriff’s Office policy.
Benito had an active warrant out of Bernalillo County for failure to appear on a burglary with forced entry charge and an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for criminal damage to property out of Illinois. His criminal history includes charges of Possession of Firearm by a Felon, Battery on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Burglary, Larceny and Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle. He is also a known member of Albuquerque’s 18th Street Gang.
Sheriff Shane Ferrari issued the following statement, “Across our nation the public is asking for more transparency when it comes to police use of force in officer involved shootings. I want to thank you for your patience as our Regional Officer Involved Shooting Task Force and my office investigated this incident. To the Benito family I offer my condolences and I ask our community to be respectful of the family. It is not easy losing a loved one, regardless of the circumstances. To the victims of that morning’s crimes, I know that some of you have lost some security. But I want to give you my commitment that the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and area law enforcement stay committed in protecting our community against violent offenders.”

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office --- OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
MAJOR INCIDENT PUBLIC BRIEFING VIDEO
On September 5, 2020 at approximately 7:10 p.m. the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call from the 10400 block of Investment Circle, located in the City of Rancho Cordova. The caller stated an adult male at that location vandalized a fence and stole a water hose. The caller provided a description of the male and indicated the male appeared to have what he described as a toy gun in his waistband.
Deputies arrived and saw the suspect walking towards them. They immediately began giving him commands. The suspect did not follow the deputies’ commands and instead laid down on the ground without being told. While deputies continued commands, the suspect all of a sudden stood up and began running away from the deputies. As he ran, he pointed a black object at them, which they perceived to be a firearm.
When the suspect reached the corner of a business, he again turned and pointed the object at deputies as they pursued him through the parking lot. When a deputy re-acquired sight of the suspect, the suspect again pointed the object at him. The deputy fired his weapon at the suspect, but did not hit him. The deputy followed the suspect while he maintained positions of cover behind pillars.
Additional deputies arrived and continued to give verbal directives to the suspect. The suspect raised his arm and pointed the object directly at deputies. Four deputies fired their duty weapons at the suspect simultaneously, injuring him.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital. Upon inspection of the object the suspect pointed at deputies numerous times, it was determined to be an ignition timing gun that had been altered to look identical to a firearm.
The suspect, 22-year-old Miguel Hernandez, was treated for his injuries and subsequently released from the hospital. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges related to pointing a firearm at a peace officer. He has since been released from custody.
The material being released has been identified as significant to this incident and includes radio traffic and in-car camera video.

Officer Involved Shooting – 500 block of Wisconsin Avenue Video/Audio Release
In order to provide information quickly to their community, the Sacramento Police Department is releasing important audio and video material from the officer involved shooting that occurred in the 500 block of Wisconsin Avenue on September 1, 2020. The material consists of one narrated video, one body-worn-camera (BWC) videos, one helicopter video, two dispatch audio files and one Crisis Negotiation audio file. The videos being released today begin as the suspect, Albert Wheeler, begins to exit the rear of the residence and ends when officers approach Wheeler to render medical aid. All videos being released from this incident have been redacted to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of those involved. Faces have been blurred and audio redactions are signified by muted audio.

On August 4th, 2020, officers responded to reports of a disturbance on the 1200 block of Rivera Drive in North Sacramento. The suspect was reported to be armed with a firearm and suicidal.

While officers were in pursuit of the suspect, a Sacramento Police Department sergeant responded to the original scene to check on the welfare of the reporting party. Seconds later, the suspect drove down Rivera Drive towards the sergeant and his marked patrol vehicle. As he passed by, the suspect fired multiple rounds at the sergeant, striking the patrol vehicle twice. Further investigation revealed that Wheeler had fired at multiple officers during the pursuit.

The suspect in this incident was identified as 50-year-old Albert Wheeler.

Wheeler remained outstanding for nearly a month. On the afternoon of September 1st, 2020, officers were on the 500 block of Wisconsin Ave conducting follow-up to this incident. Detectives confirmed that Albert Wheeler was inside a residence on this block.

SacPD Officers, SWAT, and Crisis Negotiators responded and safely evacuated the other occupants of the residence, leaving only Wheeler inside. Crisis Negotiators made contact with Wheeler and negotiated for nearly an hour for his safe surrender. During the negotiations, Wheeler made multiple statements that he wasn’t going back to prison.

The Sacramento Police Air Unit spotted Wheeler running from the residence toward an officer stationed on the perimeter of the scene. The in-car-camera footage shows Wheeler holding the firearm and aiming it at the officer multiple times while running towards him. The officer fires multiple rounds as he backs away from Wheeler. The officer trips and falls to his back. The officer stands up and discharges an additional round while Wheeler is still pointing the firearm in his direction.

A SacPd K9 was also deployed shortly after Wheeler was observed running from the residence.

Helicopter footage shows the semi-automatic handgun in the immediate vicinity of Wheeler as a contact team approached him. The firearm was identified as a 9mm Beretta and was loaded with 15 rounds.

SacPD officers rendered medical aid until Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and took over the officers’ life-saving measures. Albert Wheeler was declared deceased on-scene.

Additional videos being released today include those from the original incident on August 4th, 2020. These videos consist of one body worn camera and one in car camera video depicting the original incident of Wheeler shooting at a Sacramento Police Department Sergeant.

This incident is still under investigation. The Sacramento Police Department is committed to transparency and additional videos will be released as the investigation continues.

The City of Tallahassee, released relevant videos, photos and audio recordings from the vehicle pursuit and subsequent officer involved in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Mychael Johnson that occurred on Blair Stone Road on March 20, 2020.
Police say, they spot a stolen car, but didn't engage in a pursuit at first the driver suspect. Only Air 1 unit sheriff’s helicopter followed the driver until he failed to carjack a passerby before crashing near the the intersection of Blair Stone Road and Mahan just moments before he was fatally shot.

Police say, Johnson was trying to get the gun from the officer holster after a short foot chase where Johnson tried to carjack a second vehicle.

On September 04, 2020 the Grand Jury, which is comprised of local citizens, returned presentments on these incidents. In each, the Grand Jury gave a No True Bill. This indicates that the Grand Jury found that officers acted in accordance with State Statutes.

“I’d like to thank the Grand Jury for its service. These citizens provided a valuable service to our community, and I hope that its findings today can help us begin to heal,” Chief Lawrence Revell said.

San Jose, California.
San Jose police officers shot and killed a man last year as he drove a stolen car into a police sergeant, the District Attorney’s Office has determined. In the late morning of May 4, 2019, Efren Esquivel, 24, stole a sheriff’s deputy’s personal car as it idled unoccupied outside her home. After being found, he refused to surrender when surrounded by officers and then tried to smash his way out of the blockade with the car. Before he ran over the officer he yelled, “You’re gonna have to shoot me” or “You’re gonna have to kill me.” An autopsy determined that Esquivel was intoxicated with “a near-toxic” level of methamphetamines. Prosecutor Rob Baker wrote in the 30-page report: “When he drove at Sergeant (James) Mason at high speed, the officers had no other recourse to save Sergeant Mason than to discharge their firearms."

"Had they not fired, the vehicle likely would not have come to a stop, allowing Esquivel to inflict greater injury to Sergeant Mason and possibly hit additional officers as he attempted to escape.” An hour after he stole the car, a theft that was caught on a security video, San Jose police officers found Esquivel sitting in the vehicle in the carport area of an apartment complex located on Kollmar Drive in San Jose. After refusing repeated commands to surrender, Esquivel drove the stolen car into a police car, trying to smash his way out. Then, he drove at the police officers, crushing Sgt. Mason between the stolen vehicle and another car parked nearby. Mason suffered a broken shoulder and other injuries. Three officers, Aaron Alvarez, Edward Carboni and Sgt. Mason, fired their weapons.

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul On Jacob Blake

On August 23, 2020 Police in Kenosha Wisconsin responded to a 911 call for Domestic Abuse. An altercation took place between police and Jacob Blake that ended in him being shot 7 times. Jacob Blake had an ACTIVE WARRANT for Felony RAPE, has a history of charges for Domestic Abuse, Strangulation/Suffocation, and threatening people with a gun. He has been known to resist police.

Riots broke out after the second part of this video taken from a neighbors window showed a black man being shot in the back by police.

ARREST WARRANT was issued on June 7, 2020 for FELONY RAPE (3rd Degree Sexual Assault: “sexual intercourse with a person without the consent of that person,”) and Misdemeanor Domestic Abuses, Criminal Trespass into a Home, and Disorderly Conduct

2016 He was arrested for Domestic Abuse including Strangulation/Suffocation

2015 Jacob Blake was arrested for carrying and pulling a gun on a patron in a bar. And when the bartender ordered him to leave, he pointed the gun at patrons through the window.
Police later stopped Blake while he was driving an SUV, and when ordered to put his hands out the window, he instead exited and walked toward the officers and “ignored commands to get down on the ground.”
Officers forced him down, but Blake continued to resist, so police used a K9 to subdue him.
Cops found a handgun, a box of ammunition, and two loaded magazines in the SUV.
Blake’s blood alcohol level was 0.144, almost twice Wisconsin’s 0.08 legal limit.
Police charged Blake with “one felony count of resisting arrest causing a soft tissue injury to a police officer and one misdemeanor count each of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, endangering safety-use of a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct”

Unconfirmed reports say a "key eyewitness" heard the police tell Jacob Blake to "drop the knife".

The Attorney General stated that Jacob Blake admitted he had a knife in his possession. The AG also stated that a knife was found on the driver side floorboard of the vehicle.

Things heated up in South Los Angeles when a criminal was shot and killed by the Police - he allegedly had a gun, and he did not follow Police orders and resisted arrest.

This man says, “F*ck protesting!”, suggesting people go to war against the real enemy, “The Pigs”, as he calls the Police.

Black Lives Matter rallied up the usual chanting crowd - in which locals participated, however fact being that they were in a gang controlled neighborhood, they refrained themselves from vandalism, destruction and burning local shops & buildings.

However, they did some vandalism at the South LA Sheriffs station while agitating the Police officers standing guard.

Daytona Beach Police Department released body camera of two Officers Hurt, Attempted Murder Suspect Killed In Shootout that occurred August 28-2020
Also Chief Craig Capri speaks to reporters about a fatal officer involved shooting of yesterday.

Please Subscribe!
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is now investigating an officer-involved shooting which led to injuries for two Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) officers and the death of a suspect who was wanted for attempted murder.

A tipster who wishes to remain anonymous called law enforcement for assistance at 2:38 p.m. this afternoon (August 29, 2020) saying that she knew the whereabouts of 44-year-old Michael A. Harris.

DBPD officers and members of the Holly Hill Police Department (HHPD) were then dispatched to 1629 Espanola Avenue, Unit 104 in Holly Hill to bring Harris into custody.

DBPD’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) had an active arrest warrant for Harris in relation to the shooting of a woman on August 18, 2020 at the Travelers Inn in Daytona Beach (850 South Ridgewood Avenue).

A perimeter was established around the apartment, at which point officers approached the apartment on foot and then entered to try and arrest Harris.

Body camera video from officers on scene show Harris attempted to evade the officers by running into a bedroom. As officers tried to enter the bedroom, Harris fired through the open door with a handgun. Law enforcement then exchanged fire repeatedly with Harris, wounding him. He died at the scene.

Speaking to reporters afterward, DBPD Chief Craig Capri says Harris’ decision to use a gun forced the officers to use their weapons in self-defense.

One round struck the ballistic vest of a full-time patrol officer. The vest stopped the bullet from penetrating, leaving him with a bruise in the right chest area. He is expected to recover after he went to Halifax Health Medical Center (HHMC) for treatment.

Another full-time DBPD officer on scene tripped and fell outside of the apartment while shots were being fired. Paramedics took him to HHMC, where he is being treated for injuries to his head and neck. He remains in stable condition and should recover from his injuries.

Those officers are now on paid administrative leave while FDLE investigates, which is standard in officer-involved shootings. Their identities are not available for release currently since the FDLE investigation is active and ongoing.

The San Jose police department released body camera, helicopter camera footage of an officer involved shooting of Yuridia Ochoa, 23 years old on June 02-2020.

A San Jose police officer shot a 23-year-old woman who allegedly drove her vehicle at him following a pursuit from sideshow activity in the city Tuesday night, police Chief Eddie Garcia said.

Yuridia Ochoa was arrested in a case that began at 9:37 p.m. when officers in a police helicopter spotted a vehicle doing donuts in the area of East Santa Clara Street between Fourth and Fifth streets, according to police.

Ochoa hit a pedestrian and then fled. Officers tried to pursue the vehicle but lost sight of it in the area of North Sixth and Jackson streets. They then found it again shortly afterward in the area of North Sixth and East Mission streets, Garcia said.

When officers approached, Ochoa fled again, hitting a motorcycle officer and knocking him to the ground. She fled on East Mission Street toward North Eighth Street and went into an apartment building’s driveway and down a ramp to a parking garage, the chief said.

Officer on a motorcycle got off his motorcycle and told her "don't move" but she did and this is when the officer involved shooting occurred.

Ochoa was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries not considered life-threatening. The officer, who has 13 years of service with the department, was not injured, according to Garcia.

The pedestrian hit during the sideshow is also expected to survive.

OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING
3100 BLOCK OF EAST BEHAN STREET

The Tucson Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred yesterday morning on Tucson’s South Side.

On August 22, 2020, just before 11:00 a.m. officers from Operations Division South were directed to a mobile home complex in the 3100 block of East Behan Street for a possible location of an embezzled vehicle. The vehicle was reported as embezzled from a local rental car business and was equipped with a GPS tracking system which led officers to that location. Officers spotted the same vehicle driving earlier in the day, but the driver sped away from officers when they attempted to stop the vehicle. When the first officer (Officer Calderon) arrived on Behan Street, he noticed the vehicle parked with several occupants inside. As he approached, an adult female exited the vehicle and fled on foot. An adult male then exited from the driver’s seat and fired a shot at Officer Calderon. The suspect/shooter then fled on foot into the mobile home complex as two other suspects exited the vehicle and fled. Additional officers responded to the scene, including several deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department that were in the area. Deputies were able to locate and detain the female that fled from the vehicle. As officers began searching for the suspect/shooter and the other suspects involved, additional shots from the original suspect/shooter were fired toward Ofc Calderon and Officer Calderon returned fire with his handgun. The suspect/shooter continued running through the complex and eventually ran toward a second officer on scene (Officer Jahnke). The suspect/shooter then pointed a gun at Officer Jahnke and Officer Jahnke discharged his firearm, striking the suspect/shooter multiple times. Officers immediately began rendering aid to that suspect utilizing their Individual First-Aid Kits (IFAK). Tucson Fire took over medical treatment and transported the suspect to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries. A male juvenile teenager who fled from the vehicle was also located and detained in the area. The fourth suspect involved (unknown male) is still outstanding.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Violent Crimes Section responded to continue the investigation. After processing the scene, conducting interviews and reviewing body worn camera footage, it was determined that Officer Calderon and Officer Jahnke were the only officers who discharged a firearm during the shooting. It appears that only one of the four suspects involved fired shots. That suspect was armed with an AR .22cal pistol and a .40cal handgun. Pictures of both of those weapons are attached. The suspect/shooter has been identified as Fernando Valenzuela 37 years old and is still receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Charges for that suspect are pending. The two detained suspects were identified but have not been charged as of this date.

While detectives are conducting the criminal portion of the investigation, sergeants with the Office of Professional Standards (OPS) are conducting a separate, but parallel administrative investigation to examine the actions of department personnel. This is standard protocol in all officer-involved shootings.

The officers involved in the shooting were Officer Edward Jahnke, a 7 ½ year veteran of the Tucson Police Department and Officer Jesus Calderon, an officer with almost 2 years of service with the Tucson Police Department.

Dashcam of attack on officer: our agency arrested and charged two men for opening fire on patrol officers, shooting three of those officers. The patrol officers were attacked while responding to a call for a residential robbery in progress at a home in the 1300 block of Capital View Terrace in Landover on Sunday at 6:35 pm.

The suspects are 45-year-old Andre Larnell Smith of the 1000 block of Lancaster Boulevard in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and 27-year-old Steven Maurice Warren of the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast, Washington. Both Smith and Warren face multiple charges to include first and second degree attempted murder, assault and gun charges.

The first arriving officer’s dashcam recorded the start of the unprovoked attack. The suspects opened fire as soon as that first officer stopped his cruiser. The officer was shot multiple times but was still able to return fire and make an emergency radio dispatch for help. The suspects got into their car and sped down the street before making a U-turn and headed back toward the officers. The suspects continued to fire on the officers while attempting to flee the area but crashed into a tree on Capital View Terrace. Both suspects suffered injuries related to the crash. Neither suspect was shot. They were then taken into custody. One weapon was recovered on the scene. A second was located in the suspects’ car.

Thankfully, two of the injured officers are now recovering at home and one remains hospitalized. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The wounded officers include a 15-year veteran, an officer with five years of service and one who joined the department four years ago.

A total of four officers discharged their duty weapons on the scene. They are now on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.4

On Sunday January 5, 2020 at approximately 6:23 P.M., Milford Police Department were dispatched to 21 Linstone Lane, Building 21 for a domestic-related assault in an unknown apartment. Dispatch advised Officers en route to the location that the incident was possibly in Apartment 5 and that dispatch had received multiple 911 disconnected calls from that apartment. Dispatch further advised that the female inside the apartment was pregnant and being held against her will – and that possible weapons were involved, including an AK-47 and a machete. They also advised that the male inside the apartment was threatening violence to law enforcement and may have mental health issues.

Officers Golding and Karpin were the first on scene and entered the building while assisting Officers maintained a perimeter on the outside of the building. Both Officers Golding and Karpin drew their service weapons and went upstairs where Apartment 5 was located. From the hallway they could hear screaming and loud banging within the apartment. Corporal Golding knocked on the door and announced that it was the Milford Police. Several seconds later the apartment door partially opens, enough that Corporal Golding could see a male subject Brandon D. Roberts (later identified as Mr. Roberts) standing behind the door, but Corporal Golding could not see Mr. Roberts’ hands.

Corporal Golding commanded that Mr. Roberts show his hands as the door began to close, at which point Corporal Golding reached to open the door further. Mr. Roberts then exited the apartment into the hallway towards Corporal Golding, with a butcher knife in his right hand. Both officers had their firearms drawn when Mr. Roberts exited the apartment. Corporal Golding reached out with his free (left) hand in an attempt to block Mr. Roberts from moving Mr. Roberts’ right hand (with the knife) towards Corporal Golding, but Corporal Golding missed. Corporal Golding backed up and continued to issue the command to “raise your hands,” but he had no more room to retreat given the small confines of the hallway. Mr. Roberts continued to advance on Corporal Golding, at which point both Corporal Golding and Patrolman Karpin opened fire. Immediately prior to being shot, as he was exiting the apartment, Mr. Roberts shouted, “Shoot me.”

After the shooting, both Officers Golding and Karpin rendered medical aid to Mr. Roberts but were ultimately unsuccessful. The encounter was captured on the body-worn cameras (BWC) worn by both Officers, which contained both audio and video of the incident. Additionally, a surveillance video system in the apartment hallway captured the incident, but the surveillance is without audio. The entire encounter occurred in less than ten (10) seconds, and it was only three (3) seconds from when Mr. Roberts initially opened the door to the shots being fired.

FARGO, N.D. Valley News Live report - With over 2,000 views, many in the valley may have seen a recent video that was posted to Facebook over this past weekend.

The video shows what occurred after a traffic stop involving local Black Lives Matter activist Faith Dixon. The video that was originally made public on Facebook has since been taken down.

In the video, Dixon says she was upset with the way the stop was conducted in Moorhead on Saturday and has since filed a formal complaint against one officer involved.

Dixon says one of the officers tried to open her door, had his hand on his gun and that she feared for her life. Dixon says she needs justice.

We reached out to Moorhead Police who say shortly after 4:00 on Saturday, they pulled Dixon over on 8th Street for driving 44 in a 30 mile per hour zone. Police say they want to be as transparent as possible with the community and will be releasing more video on the incident sometime today.

Dixon was cited for speeding.

On May 20, 2020 the Hayward Police Department Special Duty unit was on the lookout for 23-year-old, Stoney Ramirez who was a person of interest in the May 1st homicide of a homeless Hayward man.

Stoney Ramirez was also on searchable felony probation for an assault that resulted in great bodily injury.

Officers had reason to believe Mr. Ramirez might be at a residence on Wildwood Street and when they arrived, they found parked in the driveway in a white vehicle later determined to be stolen. Officers believed, based on prior information, that Mr. Ramirez was armed.

An undercover detective, Officer Kyle Martinez, and Officer Dynaton Tran pulled up and attempted to block the driveway with their police car. As can be seen in the body-worn camera video, Mr. Ramirez failed to follow officer’s commands and then repeatedly backed up the stolen car and rammed their police vehicle with officers standing nearby in the direct path of travel. In response, the three officers discharged their service weapons.

Officers worked to secure the scene and determine a safe approach to remove Mr. Ramirez from the car as they believed he was armed and did not know the extent of his injuries. Once removed from the driver’s seat, officers applied first aid until paramedics arrived. Mr. Ramirez was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured during this incident.

On July 15, 2020, around noon, officers located Burrise inside a vehicle in an apartment complex in the 5200 block of Cosumnes Drive. To prevent Burrise’s escape, officers attempted to block him in with their vehicles at which point Burrise rammed a police car. Uniformed officers gave Burrise multiple commands to surrender. At one point, Burrise accelerated backwards in the path of an undercover officer. That officer, fearing for his safety, and two uniformed officers, also fearing for the officer’s safety, fired their weapons striking Burrise. Officers continued to give commands to Burrise to exit the vehicle and noticed there was no movement from inside. An officer then utilized less-lethal shotgun bean bag rounds to breakout the windows so officers could safely approach for an emergency extraction. Officers were able to remove Burrise from the vehicle and rendered medical aid. Medics arrived and transported Burrise to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Officers from the Cactus Park Precinct responded to a 911 call at a liquor store near 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The caller indicated a man walked into a liquor store holding a handgun and manipulating the slide.

Surveillance video shows the man outside the store, armed with the weapon. The man was later identified as 22-year-old Omar Luna.

An officer responded to the location and contacted the 911 caller, learning that Luna was walking around while displaying the handgun and making statements about scaring people.

Two additional officers responded, obtaining Luna's description and last known location. They began searching the area and quickly located the suspect walking on a nearby residential street.

Body-worn camera footage shows officers attempting to speak with Luna, but he immediately ran from them.

Two officers got out of their vehicle and ran after him. As Luna was running away, one of the officers saw him remove a handgun from his shorts and swing it in the direction of the officer. Luna continued running and approached the front door of a home, where he fired the weapon as he tried to open the door.

One officer returned fire three times, striking the suspect.

Luna continued into the house as officers tried to contact the others inside to make sure they were safe.

As officers moved residents out of the house, they saw the man sitting on the floor. He told officers he had accidentally fired the handgun.

After the last person left the house, officers had Luna crawl outside where he was detained and provided first aid.

The Phoenix Fire Department transported Luna to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries prior to being booked into the Maricopa County Jail. Luna has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer. There were no other injuries to community members or officers.

The officer who fire his duty weapon is a 23-year-old assigned to the Cactus Park Precinct. He has 2 years of service.

Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete.

The Phoenix Police Department released body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting near a hotel in the area of 10400 N. Black Canyon Highway. The incident happened July 8, 2020 at approximately 6:56 a.m. According to a 911 call, a man stated that his roommate was "becoming crazy," and he had kicked her out. He went on to say that she "shot a gun," which was determined to have occurred outside the apartment. The responding officers all had body worn cameras. When the officers arrived on scene, they met the caller who showed them where the woman had shot the gun. He then spotted the woman near a parking lot on the north side of the hotel and directed the officers to the woman, who was later identified as 24-year-old Jovana Kelsey McCreary. Two officers and a sergeant contacted McCreary.

One of the officers asked her if she had a firearm. She said she did not. She also denied firing a gun. The officers talked with McCreary for nearly seven minutes. With her permission, they searched her bag and found ammunition. They also found illegal drugs inside. At the same time, it was also discovered she had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. One of the officers took her hand to handcuff her. McCreary struggled to get away and pulled a handgun from her waist area. As the struggle continued, McCreary fired the gun, narrowly missing the officers. The two officers drew their weapons and fired at McCreary, who still had the gun in her hand. McCreary was struck twice, dropped the gun, and hit the ground. Officers on scene provided first aid to McCreary. Phoenix Fire Department personnel arrived and took over first aid. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition but survived her injuries. No officers or bystanders were injured during this incident.

The Phoenix Police Department has released information, audio, and visuals from a critical incident in our community.

The officer-involved shooting happened July 4, 2020 near 56th Avenue and Glenrosa. The incident claimed the life of 28-year-old James Porter Garcia.

Officers first responded to the area around 1 p.m. after a 911 caller said a man who had stabbed him the previous week had returned to the area and was threatening him again.

“He’s trying to kill me again,” the caller told the dispatcher.

The caller told officers the suspect was a Hispanic man approximately 28 years old and that he believed his first name was Eric.

While still on the phone with dispatchers, officers from the Maryvale-Estrella Mountain precinct arrived on scene, talking with the stabbing victim and seeing his wounds.

The victim lead officers to a home on Glenrosa, telling them one man had a knife and another had a gun.

Officers arrived at the residence making contact with several people at the home.

At 1:25 p.m., they make the first contact with James Garcia who was inside a vehicle in the driveway.

An officer knocks on the vehicle, asking the man if he is okay. The officer instructs Garcia to turn off the car and come over to the area where other individuals from in and around the home are talking with officers.

“We are doing an investigation over here and I don’t want you sitting in the car,” the officer says to Garcia.

The officer explains they are investigating a crime and need to identify everyone at the house, but Garcia refuses to get out of the vehicle.

This conversation continues calmly for another 10 minutes with Garcia saying he didn’t have identification on him, but first told officers his name was Samuels Garcia-Salazar but then corrects himself saying his name is John Salazar Banuelos. He then told officers his birthday was January 1st, 1982, a date which would make him 38, not his actual age of 28.

Garcia admits to the officer he has a misdemeanor warrant, which the officer tells Garcia he isn’t concerned with.

Ten minutes into the conversation, the Sergeant on scene comes over to tell the man he needs to get out of the crime scene.

“Is there a reason you are not getting out of the car?” the Sergeant asks. He further explains to Garcia that there was a stabbing at the house, and he needs to clear people from the crime scene.

One minute and fifteen seconds into this conversation with the Sergeant, Garcia rolls up the window, but still doesn’t get out of the car. Less than a minute later, one of the officer shouts “He’s got a gun!”

Other officers notice the change in demeanor and run over to the vehicle while the officer who first noticed the gun in Garcia’s right hand shouts commands to drop the gun.

Garcia holds his left hand to his head and mouths to the officer “shoot me, shoot me.”

The officer standing next to the driver side door warns Garcia that if he lifts his armed right hand any further, he is going to shoot.

Thirteen minutes after first contacting Garcia and approximately 50 seconds after first noticing the gun, two officers fire their weapons into the vehicle.

The gun remains in Garcia’s hands and they continue to shout demands that he drop it.

Another officer who was not involved in the shooting runs toward the scene, retrieving the gun from the vehicle in order to safely provide medical attention to the man.

Once the gun was removed and secured, medical assistance was provided to Mr. Garcia, but he did not survive the injuries.

The name which had been provided to officers by Garcia was not his real name. Detectives identified him through fingerprints during the investigation and found that Garcia had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. Through interviews and other investigative efforts, detectives learned that Garcia recently came into possession of the firearm. Since he was on probation, Garcia was a prohibited possessor.

Garcia did not live at the home where the shooting happened. Detectives will continue to investigate this incident and turn over their findings to Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review. At the request of Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams, the case is also undergoing an independent civil rights review by the FBI.

The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing video from an officer-involved shooting at an apartment complex near Desert Foothills Parkway and Chandler Boulevard in Ahwatukee.

The May 21, 2020 incident claimed the life of 40-year-old Ryan Whitaker.

The incident began around 10:18 p.m., when the Phoenix Police Department received a domestic violence call at the apartment complex. According to the 911 call, a woman and a man, later identified as 40-year-old Ryan Whitaker, were involved in an argument.

“I have a domestic dispute going on,” the caller told 911 dispatch. “I can tell they’re just at each other’s throats down there.”

As the first two officers were arriving on scene, a second 911 call was received at approximately 10:44 p.m., indicating the incident had become a physical altercation and the call was upgraded to an emergency response.

“It’s getting really loud and they’ve been doing it for the last hour,” the same caller told 911. “These guys have been noisy constantly. Every time I come back, these guys are noisier than hell. Always fightin’. I hear slamming of doors. I don’t know. Somebody could be getting’ thrown into a door for all I know. But I hear all kinds of banging.”

The information was relayed to the responding officers. The first two officers arrived at the apartment at approximately 10:52 p.m. Both officers were wearing body worn cameras. The two officers approached the apartment door. The first officer knocked on the apartment door and announced themselves as Phoenix Police. He then stood next to a wall on the left side of the door. The second officer stood to the right side of the door.

Shortly after the officer knocked on the door, Whitaker opened the door armed with a handgun, and stepped out of the apartment towards the officer on the left side of the door.

Believing the other officer is in immediate danger, the second officer fired his weapon, striking Whitaker. Whitaker did not fire his weapon, which was recovered in the doorway. This entire encounter between the officers and Whitaker lasted just seconds.

Ryan Whitaker was pronounced dead on the scene. No one else was injured.

Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete.

The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing video from an officer-involved shooting at an apartment complex near 23rd Avenue & Indian School.

The June 16, 2020 incident claimed the life of 27-year-old Donald Ward.

According to multiple 911 callers, Ward and a woman were fighting inside an apartment. One of those callers included the female victim of the domestic dispute. While she didn't respond to questions from the dispatcher, she could be heard pleading for her life and screaming.

The phone line remained open for several minutes as the victim continued to plead for her life. Additionally, the dispatcher believed gunshots had been fired, and this was also reported by at least one other caller.

Officers of the Mountain View and Cactus Park Precincts responded to the call shortly before 9 p.m.

When the first two officers arrived on scene, they located the apartment, and attempted to make contact. No one answered the door, so the first two officers began evacuations of neighboring apartments for their safety.

The officers then met with additional responding officers to develop a plan to make contact. That's when they heard a shot from inside of the apartment.

The officers then approached the door again and began making announcements, asking the people inside to come out. The officers got no response from Ward or the female caller.

Based on the 911 call and the gun shots, they decided to force entry to the apartment to rescue the victim.

As the officers were working their way through the apartment, they saw what looked like bullet holes in the walls.

Once inside the officers approached a closed bedroom door and forced it open. As they entered the bedroom, they saw a closed bathroom door as well. As the officers were outside of the bathroom door, they could hear the female pleading for help.

While forcing the door open, the officers heard the female screaming that he had a gun to her face and they heard a gunshot. Officers returned fire, striking Ward.

During the encounter, the victim was able to lay on the ground, and two of the officers were able to position themselves between the woman and Ward. The victim was not injured by any gunfire, and there were no injuries to any other community members or officers.

Donald Ward was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators learned the woman had been dating Ward for several months and there was a previous history of domestic violence.

Three officers fired their duty weapons during this incident. The first is 46 years old, assigned to the Mountain View Precinct and has 20 years of service. The second officer is 23 years old, assigned to the Mountain View precinct and has 2 years of service. The third officer is 34 years-old, assigned to the Cactus Park Precinct.

Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete.

San Diego police shot and wounded a 25-year-old man Sunday night at police headquarters who they said slipped out a hand out of handcuffs and grabbed an officer’s gun that was being stored in the back of a police SUV.
Police said the man fired the gun at least once at police before three officers fired their guns, hitting him at least once in the torso.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and injuries caused when a police dog bit him. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. at police headquarters on Broadway and 14th Street. No officers were injured.

Police said the incident began around 6:30 p.m. when officers were called about a man acting strangely and threatening a security guard in a downtown hotel. The security guard used pepper spray and took him to the ground before officers arrived and arrested the man, bringing him to the station for processing, police Capt. Rich Freedman told OnScene TV.

At headquarters, the man was left in the back seat of a police SUV parked in the station’s sally port as an officer filled out booking paperwork.

It was at that point that he slipped a hand out of his handcuffs and broke a plexiglass divider in the vehicle between the back seat and trunk area, authorities said. He was able to get into the back area, where he found a backpack the officer used to store a backup handgun.

“The male was able to grab the handgun and bring it into the rear of the police car,” Freedman said.

When officers went to check on the man, they saw that he was armed. They drew their handguns and backed away and took cover.

Officers told the man to drop the weapon, but he didn’t and he fired at least one round, police said. Three officers returned fire.

After he was shot, the man “reached out the car window, opened the door and exited the patrol vehicle. He was still armed with the handgun and would not comply with officers’ directions,” police Lt. Andra Brown said in a statement.

According to Brown, the man tried to open the rear cargo compartment and the driver’s door of the patrol vehicle, despite officers’ orders to stop. Because he still posed a threat, she said, a police dog was deployed and bit the man.

After that, officers moved in and again handcuffed the man — and then provided medical aid. The man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds and dog bites.

Police have not yet released the names of the officers involved in the shooting. They said one had been with the department for eight years, one for six years, and one had been on the force for 10 months.

The homicide unit is investigating the shooting and will present its findings to the District Attorney’s Office to determine if any officer should be prosecuted. The Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an investigation to determine if any policies were violated, and the department’s Shooting Review Board will evaluate tactics used by the officers. The Community Review Board on Police Practices also will conduct a review.

Freedman said the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office will monitor the investigations.
