Over the years since its release, I’d heard most of this album already and what I’d heard I liked, but unlike the first album, there are some songs on this one that I don’t really care for - not many, but they’re there. For the most part though, it’s still a great album and I still really like Avril’s music. The next album will be interesting though, because as far as I’m aware, I only know three songs from it. Starting to really get into unknown territory now.

This album hit at the right time for me and I pretty much love the whole thing, but Avril kinda fell off for me afterwards as I stopped listening to the radio around that time as well, which caused me to lose track of a ton of different artists. As such, I want to explore the music of hers that I’ve missed by making some medley videos for her albums. Enjoy!

Side note: I did not include any of the bonus tracks for this as they are included in her B-Sides promotional album which I’ll do in the future.

original song by trash boat

Goofing off at night, just wondering why I am still surviving

Feeling I don’t know, a love I can’t ever own
Because they want to know who I am

Why I sit alone and stare, but they won’t move along, like your sitting on my soul
So who are you, who are you, who are you, cause id like to know

Who are you, who are you, cause I’d like to know
Cause I am alive, i got the chance to say survive

From someone I don’t know, a love I can’t ever own
Because they want to know who I am

Why I sit alone and stare, but they won’t move along, like your sitting on my soul
So who are you, who are you, who are you cause id like to know

Cause all I am is something different than you’d ever note

Different, different, different, but you will know

Different, different, yaaaa

God is in your way, god is pleasing, but until someday you’ll wait
Cause they want to know who I am, why I sit alone and stare

When they won’t move along, like you’re kicking out my soul
So who are you, who are you, who are you, but I want to know

Because all I am is something different then you but you would note

Oh different, different, different but you would note, I’m different, I’m different, but you would note
In my mind sometimes god plays voices on my head, absence makes it worse and I descend

MTX live at the Joiners Arms in Southampton, England, July 8th 1992, in front a few dozen shouting, sweating, vibrating teenagers, one of whom happened to have a running camcorder in his hand. It's pretty rough, but so were we, and it's probably the best live video document of that era of MTX as there is.

Lots to tell about that overseas trip. Extracting a few songs to comment on, as before, after which I'll post the whole set.

MTX, live at RKCNDY, Seattle, Nov. 13, 1998.

This is the whole show, starting in the midst of the opening song "I Just Wanna Do It with You" just before the first chorus. Nothing can be done about that! But that's why I didn't separate it out as a separate song.

(This video was handed to me by Amy who used to work there when we played in NYC recently. Pretty good show and pretty good video and audio considering it's from VHS, despite a few glitches here and there from the transfer. I may post more of it if I get around to it.)

Set list: I Just Wanna Do It with You / She's Coming (over Tonight) / Tapin' up My Heart / Thank You for not Being One of Them / Another Yesterday / More than Toast / Here She Comes / I'm Like Yeah but She's All No / We Are the Future People of Tomorrow / Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba / Love Is Dead / Ready Set Go / ...and I Will Be with You / You're the Only One / I Fell for You / BBC

I also did write-ups for each individual song as I posted them on various social media platforms and have aggregated them here: https://medium.com/@drankf/minor-secrets-of-the-mr-t-experience-revealed-c66f9151cf7d

I know little about this other than the fact that it was created by our bass player Byron's neighbor sometime in 1989. (He had done another one earlier, for "Surfin' Cows".) This is the version of the song from the Big Black Bugs Bleed Blue Blood 12" ep on Rough Trade.

Thanks to Jon von for preserving and sharing the video, and Byron's neighbor, whoever you are.

"Lickitung" is the A side of RAD--005-7, the Punkemon 7" on Sounds Radical Records. Available now on purple vinyl, with enamel pin, shirt, cool box, etc. Buy it here: https://www.soundsradical.com/store/c24/PUNKEMON.html

(digital: http://amzn.to/2AMZexY)

Punkemon emerged at the end of the last century, from the fevered brain of Lookout Records president Chris Appelgren, inspired by Kasenetz and Katz to fabricate a ‘mon-sploitation band dispensing Bubblegum for the new era. In-house Lookout stars contributed songs and sounds, but they flew too low, too late. Release was an abandoned dream. Their destiny was the vault. They could have been bigger than the Beagles. These two songs are all that remain.

Featuring Dr. Frank (MTX), Mel Bergman (Phantom Surfers), Chris Imlay (Hi-Fives), and Chris Appelgren (Pee Chees)... produced by Kevin Army, written by Dr. Frank, Itching Powder Music (BMI)

video by Marci Stewart, starring Sophie and Dex
