This episode's going to be relatively short-feeling compared to the others in this series - a quick jaunt to grab the 6th Transmitter Piece from earlier in the Heket Marsh, then opening up the exits out of the Sobek Mountain Shrine and Thoth Reliquary that'll give access to the last ~20% of the game.

I'm pondering what game my next set of videos should be.
I'm all over the place about it - unsure if I should do another 'retro' shooter like Ion Fury or Serious Sam HD, a hefty mod like Arcane Dimensions' intricate and detailed levels (of which I've already done one or two on this channel), something like PrimeHack for the Metroid prime Trilogy, or even a non-shooter like Crash Team Racing on PS1.

Have to make my mind up within the last couple of episodes, but for now the things I'm leaning towards the most are doing a run of Turok EX, or doing a very ADHD playthrough of The AMC TC's currently existing 3 Episodes. Fun fact: the reason I'm doing an Exhumed playthrough right now is because of all the Powerslave/Exhumed assets in AMC TC Episode 3 making me extremely nostalgic for it.

Hay guys, here’s a quick example of some of the animations I have been working on for the big channel project. I have his AI behaviors working and now I’m off to make another one. After this one is done I have the streaming model to complete ( including AI), then I can finally start working on some environments and stuff.
Pleas enjoy.

As the elevator lowers in Selkis Path, it's like riding down into 20 minutes of the FPS finally coming out. Path and Burrow feel like we're leaning heavily into DOOM: lots of backtracking again and again for keys, faster paced combat encounters, ""pink demons"" getting paired up with ""revenants"" -- and having a boss duel using the boss's own weapon against them, followed up by monster closets of trashmobs.

Getting the Sceptre means a short trip back to Karnak Sanctuary to grab the last Life Vessel, which as far as I know number only 3 in the PS1 version.
It's hard to know why they cut it in half from how many you get in the DreamCast port.

Does the better resolution and more ergonomic controller mean the game is literally easier to play on PS1, making the choice for a lower maxed health based on difficulty balance? Or were the sizes of the levels being strained on PS1 and they just couldn't fit the Vessels' nooks into the levels anymore?

1 week, 6 days ago

If you didn't guess from the foreboding last line of last week's description, or from having played Exhumed yourself, we're kicking off this week's episode with The Sunken Palace of Khnum: basically the goddamn water temple, immediately after the goddamn sewer level. At least this one's less confusing and can actually be smashed out rather quickly if you know what you're doing.

The level AFTER that, however, is where I get tripped up. Deserted Slave Camp has a fetish for timed switches and pressure plates, and I entirely forgot how a particular puzzle worked, thereby wasting about 3 or 4 minutes going around in a circle until I remembered how to progress. At least the Transmitter Beacon part doesn't blue-ball players on this level, I guess.

We're about halfway through the game, and things are going to start deviating from the Ancient Egypt aesthetic very soon, from what I remember.

2 weeks, 6 days ago

Thoth Reliquary is a nice level to start this episode with, being a good action-heavy map re-using arguably the best song on the soundtrack. The only "puzzle" here per-se is a lot of running from one dead end back to another, back to another, picking up keys to push those dead ends further and further. It's possible to fly down the long lava corridor and head into the Magma Fields early, but eventually the Kilmaat Sceptre's necessary, and grabbing that makes the final Health Tank™ accessible.

Next, a trip back to Karnak to re-restock and essentially play the level backwards, because having artifacts can allow you to do that as any good Metroid-like should, and then depart down the final path out of Karnak across the green acid swampy shit - where the sequence break I mentioned is possible in the description of Part 2b.

This brings us to what you could consider the Sewer Level of Exhumed: you spend all of Heket Marsh skirting around glowy green pits of acid, walking across hazardous catwalks, and you even get blue-balled with the piece of the Transmitter Beacon that can't be obtained yet.

Next time, we start off with everyone's OTHER 'FAVOURITE' KIND of level in every game ever.

I might return to this game depending on the demand for it. Want me to showcase more of this? Let me know!

First, a quick jaunt through the Amun Mines again to get our exit out to the Cavern of Peril - where the Flamethrower is found: a weapon that's used mainly to inflict damage over time to groups, but can also be used for high burst damage if you're willing to chew through a bunch of Weapon Power. It's also very good for burning through the Mummies that make a return here.

Then, a revisit to Karnak to get some Full Weapon Power orbs -- full orbs only half-fill whatever's not currently equipped, so finding 2 with some careful management of whatever weapon you main is necessary.

Finally, The Nile Gorge gives us a chance at the 4th Beacon piece. Nile Gorge isn't exactly combat-heavy, it's a level more about switch hunting and dodging fireball traps. Thankfully, the Beacon in this level is hidden somewhere very obvious again, and there's more mummies to set on fire.

Actually it's more like Resident Evil....nah...it's Alone in the Dark. Well, it's kind of a love letter to all three. I really enjoyed this demo. I hope you enjoy my play through.

1 month, 1 week ago

This episode had to be split in half because of keeping an eye on my niece and nephew.
I was going to stitch them together, but I don't want to have to wait around for half an hour not touching my PC, and I'm not happy about it increasing the total amount of uploading by half a gig (somehow stitching two 0.5Gb files together results in a 1.5Gb video, even though output quality was set to be the same as inputs).

Amun Mines introduces us to the Amun Bomb - basically an ancient hand grenade, mostly used for clearing out large numbers of weak enemies or for blowing up walls (secret and otherwise). It has splash damage that you will definitely see me hit myself with a few times in this playthrough, and naturally it seems to do far more damage to the player than to enemies.

We also recover the 2nd piece of the Beacon here, which establishes the trend of EXHUMED hiding secrets behind completely unmarked walls - though thankfully they tend to give you enough other hints to go on, assuming you're not looking for the developer dolls (which I am not, on this run).

In Part 2b, get ready for some banger-ass music, and the first boss fight of the game.

1 month, 1 week ago

The second half of Part 2. This time, we head to the Palace and Arena of Set, full of nice warm instant-death lava under platforming challenges.

We take on the first boss of the game, who sadly is extremely vulnerable to the timeless art of circle-strafing, and get our hands on the Shawl: an artifact that lets the player slow-fall if they re-press-and-hold Jump while in the air. If you have enough Health (and are willing to get your feet slightly burned off by the not-as-instantly-lethal acid in Karnak Sanctuary), you can even use it to sequence break and take an early route up to the Heket Marsh.

I'm trying to do an 'honest' no sequence break and no save-stating run, so next time, we're visiting the Caverns of Peril and the Nile Gorge, to go get the Anklets that let us take that route the way Ramses intended.

We're gonna kick this shit off with a whopping 40-minute episode. This Playthrough is using RetroArch and a PS4 controller for that authentic shoulder button strafing.

EXHUMED on PS1 is one of my favourite games ever, right up there with the greatest of the Boomer Shooters, the Serious Sam series, and things like Hollow Knight and Postal 2 -- but sadly suffers from being a game I've never finished: every time I get back into it, some shitty life-shattering thing happens which means the playthrough inevitably just dies. It's also the version the upcoming POWERSLAVE Remake is allegedly gonna be based on, which I wholeheartedly prefer over the Duke-clone on PC.

EXHUMED has utterly bizarre controls due to being a console FPS before thumbsticks were a normal thing, but it's also a rare example of a very faithful Metroid-like before the Metroid formula was properly established (as a side note: I make a distinction between pure "Metroid-Likes", and "Metroidvanias").

For our first episode, we get a primer on the story, enter King Ramses' Tomb to get a briefing, and then proceed to tear up several levels - snagging the Sandals (high jump), Sobek Mask (no longer instantly drown in water), 2 Health Ankhs (more health bars), and even picking up the first part of the "Beacon" which is needed for the good ending.

These Episodes will vary greatly in how long they are and what they cover: being a Metroid-like that lets you freely revisit areas, there'll be some backtracking in some episodes, and occasionally just swinging by places to restock on Weapon Energy and Health.

Happy Valentine's Day! This might be a long one, as I plan on finishing Metal Gear Solid. Will Sniper Wolf and Otacon hook up? Was Meryl's obvious lie about not being into men an obvious lie? Will Snake unleash the snake? Or will Otacon and Snake finally confess their love for one another? This is the original PlayStation classic (PS1), Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action! Wish me luck, and let's go!

Yet another Metal Gear Solid stream as we gear towards Valentine's Day! Once again, I'm trying to time this so that way we get the cheesiest scenes right on the 14th. Last time we took down Vulcan Raven in a tank and got to watch a scene of FOXHOUND bickering over Liquid Snake's wish to keep Solid Snake alive for some unknown reason. Then, in the nuclear storage building, we learned that the mysterious cyborg stealth ninja, who was helping Snake under the name 'Deep Throat', is actually Grey Fox, the man Snake used to be friends with before supposedly fighting to the death 6 years earlier in Zanzibar during the events of Metal Gear 2. Rescuing Hal Emmerich, who was unaware of Metal Gear's true intention, decided to use his own stealth camo to help Snake destroy Metal Gear. Meeting up with Meryl under disguise to pick up the deactivation PAL key, she stuck around as you killed off FOXHOUND member Psycho Mantis. Unfortunately, Meryl was picked off by Sniper Wolf, forcing Snake to go all the way back to the first building to pick up a sniper rifle to fight back, and hopefully save Meryl before it's too late. Wish me luck, and let's go!

Another Metal Gear Solid stream as we gear towards Valentine's Day! I'm trying to time this so that way we get the cheesiest scenes right on the 14th. Anyway, this game is still an absolute 10 outta 10 game, and I can't gush over this one enough. Last time, we met a cyborg ninja who, ahem, DISARMED Revolver Ocelot, and we met up with the Colonel's niece Meryl, who refuses to stand down and really wants to help us out. We learned that Metal Gear was armed and fully operational, FOXHOUND has the nuclear codes, and we need to meet up with the head engineer Dr. Hal Emmerich to figure out how to stop it. And our hostages we were tasked to rescue? Both died of a heart attack right after meeting them, both RIGHT before divulging information vital to helping us understand what's going on. Fishy indeed. Finally, another PlayStation 1 Demo Disc series! Today we'll be looking at the 1998 JamPack from when they started to release these twice a year, once for the Summer, and once for the Winter seasons. This is one of the two that I actually had growing up, so this one should be a very fun throw back. Although, there are a lot of repeats from the Pizza Hut Demo disc video that I did last year. We'll be looking at MediEvil, Spyro the Dragon, Metal Gear Solid, A Bug's Life, Cool Boarders 2, NHL Faceoff '99, NFL Gameday '99, Rally Cross 2, Tomb Raider III, and Small Soldiers. We'll also briefly look at an import game called ウッチャンナンチャンの炎のチャレンジャー 電流イライラ棒 (Ucchannanchan no Honō no Challenger: Denryū Iraira Bō). Anyway, wish me luck, and let's go!

Found a cheat I liked by searching my game title and the system type I would then find a cheat code which is normally a combination row of 12 numbers and letters.

After finding the cheat code I would go to the main menu on the Xploder V3 but before that make sure I had my x key (normal memory card does not work) to save the new game/cheat codes. I would then select cheats by pressing the x button to take me to the game list menu.

I would then press square on the words new game and type my game title then press ok using the x button, I would then go to my game title. Then the words new cheat description should appear then I would scroll down to it and press square to add a cheat title using the x button. Once finished I would press the down button then go to the words new code and press square again.

At this point, I would type my 12 digit code of numbers and letters using the x button and press x on okay when done. If additional rows are needed just press down on new code under the row of code you have created and repeat the above process.

At this point, I would press the x button on the game title to activate all my new codes or separate if needed by pressing right on my game title and pressing x on the different cheats I have created. Then press start to save my new data on my x key.

I would then press x on the start game words, then change my disc once finished I would press x to go to a loading screen which shows the words please wait game loading which loads your cheats onto the game.

Hopefully, after viewing this cheat disc in action, it will convince you it's worth buying just to complete Small Soldiers any other Ps1 game :D

More original PlayStation 1 demo discs, back at last! It's been a while since our last stream of this series, and we'll continue to work through these. This one has quite a bit of sports games, which I'm no good at, but there's also a couple of classics on here as well, like Parappa the Rapper, Tomb Raider 2, and Cool Boarders 2. Once again, I've used a random number generator to determine the order that I'll be playing all 12 of these demos in, mostly just for fun and to make things a bit different. Wish me luck, and let's hope for no crashes!

I never remember how this code works in the 1996 Resident Evil.
At least it's better than the water puzzle in Resident Evil 3.
