They have already wreaked havoc across the state, with a death toll rising as communities dig out and floodwaters recede. High winds toppled trees, snowfall stranded mountain communities and storm surges inundated coastal towns with no end in sight.
The rain was causing issues for people on the road. A driver had to be rescued from a vehicle at Swarthout Canyon Road and North Cajon Boulevard in Devore. 👀

California battles record-breaking snow and rain
A significant storm over the last several days created many impacts across California, causing some cities to flood, and higher elevations to record several feet of snow.
More than 7 inches of rain fell in Ventura County, causing flash flooding early Saturday morning according to The Associated Press. The excess rain caused roads to flood, which stranded cars on roadways. On Saturday morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department ground and air responders rescued four people and five animals from flooding in Encino. Two of the individuals were suffering from hypothermia and were transported to an area hospital. The other individuals and the five animals were all uninjured.
Air travel was halted for a majority of Southern California when a ground stop was issued for Los Angeles International Airport, impacting all departing and arriving flights on Friday. A number of inbound flights during the stop were diverted to Ontario International Airport, approximately 55 miles east, according to ABC7 journalist Brittany Silverstein. The stop expired around 1 a.m. PST Saturday morning.
Power outages across the state surpassed 100,000 on both Friday and Saturday morning, with the highest amount of outages Saturdya coming from Los Angeles County, where 26,770 outages were reported.

A woman and two of her children were found dead in a field over the weekend after wandering the streets of Pontiac, Michigan, for nearly three days amid freezing temperatures, authorities said.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the deaths could have been prevented.
Pontiac Mayor Tim Greimel said at a news conference Monday, "This is a horrible, heart-wrenching tragedy."
The mother, Monica Latrice Cannady, 35, and her sons, Malik Milton, 3; and Kyle Milton, 9; were found dead after 3 p.m. Sunday, Bouchard said at the news conference.
He described them as underdressed and out in the open.
Cannady's 10-year-old daughter, who survived, fell asleep in the field with her mother and brothers, woke up, walked to a nearby residence and knocked on a door to ask for help, Bouchard said.
"The daughter took the coat off of Mom when she came to," he said.
He described the field as one of multiple patches of land in the community where homes once stood and vehicles are abandoned. The mother didn't appear to seek shelter, he indicated at the news conference.
Temperatures in Pontiac over the weekend dipped into the low and middle teens at night, with daytime temperatures reaching the mid- to high-30s Sunday. The family lived in an apartment and had been walking around their community since Friday, Bouchard said.
At one point, Cannady took the family to a lake so she could drink the water, he said.

Rain steady to very heavy keeps pounding the Santa Barbara area. Flooding north of Sheffield Dr is preventing traffic from going into Montecito and into Santa Barbara on US 101. Situation will get worse until rain diminishes later tonight.
