The average U.S. household consumes about 11,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. This small whirlpool turbine can power dozens of homes 24hrs/day, day or night, and rain or shine.
In Arizona, there's a major canal that's nearly 50 miles (80 km) long that begins at the Granite Reef Diversion Dam, northeast of Mesa, and ends at New River near Arrowhead Towne Center. What is it currently used for? Nothing really.
You'll just see a few joggers and cyclists every now and then, but that's it. No shops on both beds of the canal for people to sit and socialize while canoes pass by carrying tourists, as you see in Venice.
No residential units on top of these shops so that people can enjoy a healthy environment packed with small businesses and foot traffic in front of scenic water.
No living within a few footsteps from everything you need like retail and restaurants.
No turbine along the 50 miles stretch of water so communities around it can benefit from renewable clean energy. Nope, nothing like that at all. Just an open-air sewer that you're allowed to walk or run next to it but nothing else.
And that's what you get when you allow politicians to run your lives. This canal could've been an energy source. It could've been THE most social place in Arizona. It could've been the most touristy spot in the state. It could've been the healthiest and most livable place in the whole country. It could've been a mecca for hundreds of thousands of small businesses that could've sustained hundreds of thousands of families.
But NO. None of that is allowed for you peasants.
Just walk or jog next to it in the scorching hot Arizona weather, but don't dream of anything else.
Politicians are the reason why we can't have nice things.
I hope you realize that one day.

Into Eternity is a feature documentary film directed by Danish director Michael Madsen,[1] released in 2010.[2] It follows the construction of the Onkalo waste repository at the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant on the island of Olkiluoto, Finland. Director Michael Madsen questions Onkalo's intended eternal existence, addressing an audience in the remote future.
Into Eternity raises the question of the authorities' responsibility of ensuring compliance with relatively new safety criteria legislation and the principles at the core of nuclear waste management.[3]
When shown on the British More4 digital television channel on 26 April 2011, the name Nuclear Eternity was used.[4] It received a special mention in the Sheffield Green Award at Sheffield Doc/Fest in 2010.
The documentary produced by Michael Moore and Jeff Gibbs displays what many on the right already knew very long, but are now happy to see that it is finally also recognized by some liberals on the left and that is the scam that is called renewable energy, in particular solar and wind (how unreliable, unsustainable and underperforming they are), but even worse perhaps is the biomass energy for which trees are actually cut and burned (with emissions as consequence). Many corporations and business charlatans such as Al Gore are exposed of profiting from these practices at the expense of nature and selling this snake oil to environmentalist and activists as solution against climate change, nothing could be further from the truth. This documentary is such an important eye opener for everyone, especially environmentalists who still religiously believe in green energy and "green new deals".
Although I do agree with the conclusions of the makers that the current "green" solutions (solar, wind and especially biomass) are highly inadequate and outright scams that are costing the populations billions up to trillions for the fake energy transition, I do not agree with some of the other conclusions and solutions. Those are:
1. Their solution would lie in population growth control and a more sharing (less consumption) economy (which I believe they actually mean socialism). Ofcourse these solutions are truly naive, because first of all western first world populations are already slowing their birth rate dramatically (up to highly concerning), which means a more developed society automatically suppresses the birth rate. If you want population growth to decrease, first thing you need to do is make sure that underdeveloped societies can have a similar level of society as the West. By forcing a non consumption society on the world, this means denying the 3rd world the opportunity to share in wealth and consumption which they desire and not going to give up because the West is so spoiled.
2. They put the blame on capitalism and billionaires (because the makers are liberals and naively believe that socialism is going to save the world). Truth is that capitalism is not at fault, but crony capitalism surely is. The rich getting in bed with the powerful (government) to pour billions of taxpayer money in renewable energy has little to with actual capitalism, it is in fact very anti-capitalism. Also not all billionaires are at fault here, these are specific individual billionaires. Sure enough a lot of companies have to follow, because they too have been deceived or simply don't have a choice because basically government policies are forcing them to play on that team.
3. The makers assume that climate change is dominantly human made and going to be catastrophic. Of course this issue is where conservatives (even the environment concerned conservatives) and the greens disagree on, even though they might agree that current "green" energy are far from the solution the greens had hoped for. But regardless of whether or not man made, catastrophic climate change is real (which I tend to believe is more likely to be not), by lack of better alternatives, at this time still fossil fuels remain the best solution for humanity.
So why is that? So long as their is no better, reliable, sustainable, real green solution, the benefits of fossil fuels (and nuclear energy) far outweigh the (for certain part unproven future) negatives. A very clear and well argumented case is made by Alex Epstein who wrote "The Moral Case For Fossil Fuels", which I highly recommend to read. In fact, after the in nature horrible doom and gloom documentary by Moore, seeing one of Epstein's presentations about fossil fuels is then highly motivating that there is still plenty of hope, but even more proof that we should definitely say goodbye to the renewable energy scam!!

This is a topic over how we could and should expand upon green or renewable energies. The topic seems to revolve around a limited view point when there is much more to explore and develop. Plus the need to develop materials to replace rare earth minerals is needed because, as the name suggests, these minerals are rare.
