I make a lot of repair videos and fix a lot of computers. I'm not perfect...not even close. I make mistakes all the time. Professionals are just normal people who learned how to avoid most of the mistakes, but learning is a task that takes a lifetime.

Yet another battery replacement on yet another extremely simple unibody-style laptop. I don't know why the model number has to be so damned long though. With two leading zeroes, no less!

I thought the keyboard would be a terrible epoxy job, but it turned out to be easier than I expected. Unfortunately, the hinge mounts needed to be repaired, so I still had to break out the epoxy. The video ends on a DVD drive refusing to go in, and I'm sure plenty of you want to know what happened, so here it is: the drive was getting stuck on something inside when the computer was upside-down, but when I finally just flipped it back over and shoved the drive in again, it went in without a problem. The faceplate came out in the way that it's made to come out, so I just pushed it back in and it was fine. Everything worked out well.

Despite putting a mention in the title and an explanation in the description, I bet I still end up with idiots in the comments who see the temperamental DVD drive and complain about it. If this happens, I will follow the time-honored tradition for handling people who say dumb things: being mean to you.

I replaced an LCD cable. It was a real pain, and the cable's connector for the orientation sensor board was too short, so I couldn't connect the orientation sensor up, leaving the thing stuck in portrait+tablet mode. The first half is general discussion about replacing the wire; the second half is what I had to do to fix the rotation and dead keyboard/touchpad issue caused by the missing sensor.

The short version of the rotation/input fix: turn on rotation lock, set orientation to Landscape (NOT flipped), run services.msc, find the "ymc" (Yoga Mode Control) service, stop it, and change its startup type to Disabled.

Laptop keyboard replacement is usually the easiest repair you can do yourself. The keyboard cable connector is usually the hardest thing to get right. If you have a backlit keyboard, make sure you get a replacement part that is also backlit!

When your hinges rip out of your laptop...glue them back together! I tangle with an HP laptop that lost every hinge anchor on one side and fix it without buying new parts. The epoxy is Loctite Plastic Bonding 5-minute. The vapors will make you VERY nauseous so be sure to run a fan and ventilate your work area!

In this video I attempt repair a BlackBerry Leap that I bought off eBay for cheap. These phones are quite pricy so I was happy to get one for this price. The Blackberry leap is a smartphone from 2015 which runs Blackberry OS 10 which is loosely based on Android so its abit old school and is no Android 10, Android 11 or Android 12 powerhouse of 2021. Blackberry has lost its popularity over the years as people started favoring full touchscreen phones rather than ones with physical keyboards. The Leap was a phone that attempted to rectify this as its a full touch screen phone. It ain't no iPhone 12 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Motorola Edge or OnePlus 8T but its definitely an interesting phone. This one wont turn on hence, its low price and I will attempt to fix it. It eventually turned out to be water damage which is always a challenge but lets see what happened! I will also do a using the BlackBerry Leap in 2021 or BlackBerry Leap in 2021 video soon so stay tuned!

So I bought this broken HTC Desire 510 for like $3.9 which does not turn on and is untested further. The 510 was a budget smartphone from HTC in 2014. It ran Android 4.4.2 KitKat and sold really well. These phones are not rare by any means and can be had for really low prices, this one was the cheapest of em all. I already have another Desire 510 with a destroyed display from a parts lot that I bought about a year ago which turns on but has a destroyed LCD. So if I fail to fix this one I at least have its display to use with the other phone. Its quite a bargain since displays alone cost $15 and I get a phone and a display for $3.9. It ain't no iPhone 12 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Motorola Edge, HTC Desire 20+ or OnePlus 8T but its definitely an interesting phone. I will eventually do a using the HTC Desire 510 in 2021 video or HTC Desire 510 in 2021, so stay tuned! So now lets get to fixing this this thing!

No, it isn't normal for your reverse to "creep". After about 300 hours of use, I noticed my reverse was getting slower and it wasn't long after that before I had to slip my toe under the forward pedal and lift up to reverse the tractor. I inspected my pedal linkage and found a lot of "slop" and then consulted - https://jdparts.deere.com - for the diagrammed parts list. Note: you have to choose your dealer or a dealer where you want the parts shipped. To support this channel and help us make more videos like this please consider sending some feel good $$$ to paypal.me/ourpassthyme . Thanks!

Had a double whammy just now. First, out of the blue, our nice 55 inch Sanyo TV suddenly shut itself off, and no matter what, it will not stay on for more than a few seconds.

Hopefully, I will eventually be able to fix it myself, then will have a nice big screen for up here in the Retro Rookery. That means, we have our eyes on a decently priced 55 inch RCA at Bi Mart, which is being paid out of an emergency cash stash. Unfortunately, this is when the Trailblazer's battery decided to die as well. It got charged up, but was dead again less than an hour later.

So, while I try to find a way to get across town for a new TV and battery, here is a quickie little video of the problem. Unfortunately, there is not much to show, since it just powers up, and then shuts back off before I can do anything.

We had some valve issues and we decided to update head to HC.
New engine snapped the valve and that lead to smashed piston and head so we decided to order new piston and cylinder with head (high compression).
Parts were ordered for YX 160 engine.

I was blessed and happy to find a Ridgid planer online at a good price ($0). Especially since wood working is just a hobby for me and I couldn't really justify spending hundreds of dollars on a machine for a hobby. So the planer had a bent blade lock bar, a missing blade, mis-matched bolts, and missing springs. In this video I go through how I made a blade lock bar from a piece of scrap I had laying around and restored the planer to a working condition.

Finally got to pink house for one day. Did a minimum of stuff and still got wore out. Irrigation pump got hit by large fallen limb and air filter cover was damaged. Did a little redneck repair.

Ok as many of you know I have been looking high and low for the last 6 months to find a new rental place and because I have my work shop I need some sort of place that has a place for my tools. You also know that I have met some pretty crazy landlords along the way...... Well here in Moldova we have a lot of empty houses in the villages so that is where I am focusing my search. At the moment I have 3 different homes I am looking at that are all FREE but....... they kind of resemble the picture on the front of this video. So I will be choosing the best of the three this upcoming week and once we are moved look forward to all new content and repair videos!!

Well it's time to do another Mia related Video..... as you can see my daughter is part monkey and there is no where she can not go ;-) Well while I was sleeping my little girl decided at 2 am she would wake up and check the fridge and freezer for me.....unfortunately she forgot to close them and the evaporator filled up with ice and all my food went bad..... fortunately there wasn't that much food in the fridge at the time. Now when this happens you have two choices..... call a repairman or DO IT YOURSELF!!

It can be a pain to get the motherboard out of these iMacs, and there are a lot of little quirks in how they're constructed. I offer some advice on how to handle working on them.

Sometimes a quick DIY project is quicker, easier and cheaper than taking it to a shop for repairs. When my son's gaming console failed to respond, I discovered it was his circle pad. I found the replacement switch online for around $12 and proceeded to repair it myself. This is one of my lower quality videos... my apologies. But it was extremely helpful to many folks who saw this when I had published it in my previous platform. Enjoy!
