This video was made in September 2020, which was the 2,500-year anniversary of the battle of Salamis, where a small group of brave men in skirts defeated the largest military force in the world at the time (who wore pajamas).
'The Battle of Salamis was a naval battle fought between an alliance of Greek city-states under Themistocles, and the Persian Empire under King Xerxes in 480 BC. It resulted in a decisive victory for the outnumbered Greeks. The battle was fought in the straits between the mainland and Salamis, an island in the Saronic Gulf near Athens, and marked the high point of the second Persian invasion of Greece.'
After the battle of Salamis and the eventual defeat of the Persians, which ended any real threat they could pose to Greece, Themistocles enjoyed a relatively long period of popularity among his fellow Athenians.
But after some years, he had accrued enemies, and had become arrogant; moreover his fellow citizens had become jealous of his prestige and power. Eventually, in either 472 or 471 BC, he was ostracized and had to flee Athens and live the rest of his life in exile.
