This is re-edited version of my first diving video. I put it together in 2013. It was also my first dive in Ewens Ponds which is a series of stunning freshwater ponds near Mount Gambier. Unlike most of the freshwater dive sites in the area, this one does not have notable overhead environments. As such it can be dived by all levels of divers and snorkelled. The 3 ponds are connected by shallow channels (called 'races'). If you're snorkelling you can continue down Eight Mile Creek all the way to the coast (that features in another of our videos).

Part 4: https://www.bitchute.com/video/ELCXV59TlyZV/

In Part 1, of Mini-Submarines & Frogmen, we examine the Italian underwater threat and how it's defeat by Commander Ian Fleming's intelligence gathering and then-Lieutenant Lionel Crabb's men's defensive measures saved Allied shipping in the Mediterranean Sea during WW2. The movie "The Silent Enemy" is very accurate made not long after WW2:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EihQ2jU2qnE

The underwater war served as inspiration for many aspects of combat swimming used in Fleming's post-war James Bond 007 novels; there is a limit to the currents and cold that a man can endure, however. This caused all combatants to create increasingly sophisticated DRY submersibles leading to the most spectacular mini-submarine raid of all time: Operation SOURCE in 1943.

http://www.combatreform.org/thunderballfromunderthesea.htm

Mission: Sink the German battleship Tirpitz before it can break loose into the Atlantic and sink shipping Britain's survival depended on.

In Part 2, we will re-live that mission.

TBA

Stay tuned.

James Bond is for REAL.

In 2016 we spent a week in Tulumban, Bali, We stayed at the Matahari, Resort, which is very well equipped for divers and excellent value for money.

Visibility was not quite as crystal clear as it can be in the area. But even then it provided a certain atmosphere, particularly around the resort itself and the garden of statues known as 'Suci Place'. It reminded me of an early morning mist.

We did a number of dives over the trip but for this video I've chosen to focus on 'Suci Place' and the Boga wreck which is a short drive away at Kubu along with the stunning Tirta Gangga Royal Water Gardens.

Piccaninnie Ponds is a stunning sinkhole rated dive site located in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

This video is a journey through the site whilst scuba diving. In order to scuba dive in Piccaninnie Ponds one has to gain certification through the Cave Diving Association of Australia (CDAA) due to the overhead environments in the cave section called the Cathedral and the deep nature of the Chasm. However the site can also be snorkelled and permits are available locally for this. It's one of the most well known and popular dive sites in the area for CDAA members and most members will try and do at least one dive there during a visit owing to it's exceptionally clear water and interesting topography.
