Signal Hill Police Department received a call regarding an armed robbery at a grocery store in the 1600 block of East Willow Street.
A loaded firearm was recovered at the scene and no officers were injured. Additionally, detectives later learned that the 2020 Honda Accord had been stolen earlier in the day outside of our jurisdiction. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Leonides Enriquez of the City of Bellflower. On the night of October 1, 2017, a shooter opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. He killed 58 people and wounded 413, with the ensuing panic bringing the injury total to 869. The shooter, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, fired more than 1,100 rounds of ammunition from his suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. The shooting occurred between 10:05 and 10:15 p.m. PDT; about an hour later, Paddock was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His motive remains officially undetermined.
The incident is the deadliest mass shooting committed by an individual in the history of the United States. It focused attention on gun laws in the U.S., particularly with regard to bump stocks, which Paddock used to fire shots in rapid succession, at a rate of fire similar to automatic weapons. As a result, bump stocks were banned by the U.S. Justice Department in December 2018, with the regulation in effect as of March 2019.
The mass shooting occurred between 10:05 and 10:15 p.m. PDT on October 1, 2017, which was the third and final night of the festival. When the shooting began, country music singer Jason Aldean was giving the closing performance.

Officers found three victims on the basketball court and a fourth nearby. All four — three juveniles and one adult — were taken to area hospitals. Axel Trejos, 20, was later pronounced dead.
Police took two boys into custody, ultimately charging one with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Chicago, IL — Rylan Wilder was a 15-year-old boy who made history in 2019 by becoming the youngest person to have ever played at the music festival Riot Fest in Chicago’s Douglas Park. He is the lead guitarist and vocalist for his band, Monarchy Over Monday. Unfortunately, however, Wilder may never be able to play music again after he was shot twice by police as they pursued and killed a robbery suspect, Christopher Willis.
Now, nearly two years after the shooting, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office has announced that the officer who started wildly firing into the occupied music school, Des Plaines Police Officer James Armstrong, will not face charges, and Wilder’s injuries were ruled “justified.”
“I don’t want to say they ruined my life, but they took away a huge part of it that I loved and they just don’t say anything,” Wilder told WGN. His family pointed out that police never even offered so much as an apology for shooting him. “Will I ever be able to play guitar again?” was Wilder’s first question after coming out of surgery. According to his doctors, the answer to that question is unknown as he has undergone 14 surgeries since that day on his arm and abdomen. He has yet to regain control of his arm. Wilder told reporters that police are acting as if they never shot him. Two years later and the government has still refused to take responsibility for the incident.
“Willis had just shot an officer in the head and had previously displayed his gun during the armed robbery and aggravated vehicular hijacking. Thus, Officer Armstrong reasonably believed that when Willis pointed the gun at him — he would shoot,” the state’s attorney’s law enforcement accountability division wrote in its decision. “Rylan’s life was changed through no fault of his own due to the reckless actions of the Des Plaines police officer,“ the Wilder family’s attorney Tim Cavanagh said. “We are lucky more kids were not shot as a result of the officer’s reckless actions.” Wilder was shot in the abdomen and the arm, with one of the bullets shattering his bones.
According to the teen’s mother Lucia Morales, her son is now missing several arteries in his arm and a metal rod was surgically put into his wrist to hold it together. Morales told CBS Chicago that Rylan still does not have feeling in certain fingers and “at this moment, we don’t know if he will recover from that.” Luckily, the bullet which struck him in the abdomen narrowly missed his major organs.
As was reported at the time, police said that Willis was suspected of robbing a bank several jurisdictions over and had led officers on a long chase before retreating into the music school. Chicago Police were reportedly waiting as Willis exited the expressway after they say Willis shot and wounded one of their own. That officer has since been released from the hospital.
According to CBS Chicago, the family’s lawsuit contains the text messages between Rylan and his dad that night. Before the shooting, Rylan asks, “could you pick me up at 7:15 please?” His mom writes back, “yes — daddy will pick you up — he wants to see how the mini is running.” Rylan says, “cool thanks” with a kiss emoji. But nearly an hour later, mom writes “Hey is everything OK? Dad’s trying to get there, but everything is blocked off by police.” Imagine the horror that this family felt after going to pick up their son at his job at a music school, seeing the police lights and not hearing back from Rylan. One couldn’t help but to imagine the worst, and that is just what they got. When they finally caught up with their son, he was bleeding in a hospital bed. “No one can ever imagine what it’s like to see their child on a table like that,” Morales told reporters. “The amount of doctors working on him the amount of blood everywhere was unbelievable.”
One of the pieces of evidence the Wilder’s legal team asked for as part of their lawsuit is the Des Plaines Police Department pursuit policy, which states in the first paragraph of that policy that balancing the safety of the public is as important as catching the suspect, and “hazards to uninvolved bystanders and motorists” should be a factor in terminating a pursuit. Apparently, however, that did not happen as Rylan was shot for merely being in the music school in which the suspect ran.
Sadly, police shooting children in Chicago is not as rare as one would think. In April, it was reported that the killing of 13-year-old Adam Toledo who appeared to be unarmed and have his hands in the air when he was gunned down by a Chicago cop was also justified.

Polk County officials said a deputy was injured after a homemade explosive device was triggered outside a Dundee motel.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said a deputy pulled a man over and asked if he had anything that could be used as a weapon. That’s when the suspect, Marco Antonio Tolentino, lifted his shirt to reveal a homemade gun. When the deputy tried to take it, Judd says Tolentino grabbed it and it exploded. A piece of it went through the deputy’s hand, resulting in the loss of two fingers.
The suspect was also hurt. He was shot in the arm but is stable. Tolentino will face charges after he's released from the hospital.
The female caller told 911 that her husband, who is identified as 31-year-old Miguel Hernandez hit her and he was holding a knife.
Hernandez abruptly opened the door and advanced toward the officer, armed with a knife. The officer told Hernandez to show his hands. But Hernandez did not respond to the command. Hernandez continued toward the officer with the knife, which caused the officer to fire at Hernandez.
He was transferred to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

ANTIOCH, Tenn - The Metro Nashville Police Department released chilling 911 calls and body camera video from officers who responded to a workplace shooting at Smile Direct Club early Tuesday morning.
"I have a security officer shot!" a caller says to dispatch. Three people were injured in the shooting—one of them remains critical.
The gunman, 22-year-old Antonio D. King, was shot and killed by police.
Police said King was a dayshift employee at the warehouse. He opened fire at the manufacturing facility on Antioch Pike during a shift change. Body camera video shows MNPD Officers Dylan Ramos and Cherell Kinchloe commanding King to drop his gun after spotting him on Antioch Pike and Franklin Limestone Road. "Drop the weapon!" Officer Ramos can be heard saying to King. King pointed his weapon at police, and officers fired. Police rendered aid to the suspect, who was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and later died from his injuries.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Police in Nashville have revealed body camera footage of the moment an employee at Smile Direct opened fire at this workplace, injuring three people. One person remains in critical condition following the attack at the warehouse on Tuesday. Suspected shooter 22-year-old Antonio King was fatally shot by police during the incident. Police revealed in an incident report that the first 911 call regarding the incident came in at 5.58am when eyewitnesses said a man had opened fire.
King, who was a dayshift employee at the warehouse, allegedly walked up to the facility during a shift change and opened fire. The motive behind the alleged shooting is not yet known. Police said that the suspect engaged in a shootout with the security guards through the doors of the facility and that two security guards and a manager were wounded. The suspected gunman was armed with a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine, Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron said.
News4 reported that the security guards were identified as Johnny Hardin, 46, and Carlton Watson, 66. Mr Hardin was left in critical condition while Mr Watson was said to be stable. The third man injured, Thomas Abbott, 54, has been treated and released, Metro Nashville Police Department said. A fourth person was said to have injured their ankle while running away.
As the event unfolded, police confronted a man who they say matched the suspected shooter’s description and saw he was carrying a gun. Bodycam footage shows officers demanding King drop the weapon. Police said that the suspect refused to comply and pointed the gun at officers prompting them to open fire. The man can be seen in the footage collapsing to the ground as police shout at him not to move. The suspect was said to have been transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
“The heart of our family is broken at the news of the shooting at Smile Direct Club. For the families impacted by the shooting we cry and pray with you,” King’s family said in a statement. “For those who were injured and frightened by the event we empathize with you and pray for you.” The family claimed in the statement that King was suffering from a mental illness and that the “signs and severity of the illness” was not evident to them.

The suspect from the mass shooting and house fire in Tucson that left at least two dead has been identified as Leslie Stephen Scarlett. Authorities said the 35-year-old Scarlett is in a local hospital in extremely critical condition. He will face a host of charges when he is released.
According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Scarlett has a criminal history that includes a 2007 conviction for an attempted armed robbery. He was sentenced to six years and was released in August 2013. Sunday’s incident began with a call about a house fire near South Campbell Avenue and East Irene Vista at 3:45 p.m. At the same time, Scarlett allegedly went to the Quincie Douglas Center at Silverlake Park and shot at an ambulance that was staging as a backup for an unrelated medical call. A 20-year-old EMT was shot in the head was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another EMT, a 21-year-old, was shot in the arm and chest and was stable. Magnus said the 21-year-old EMT was able to call for help and describe Scarlett and his vehicle, a silver SUV. Several Tucson Fire Department vehicles arrived at the house fire and began battling the blaze, along with help from neighbors. Scarlett allegedly then returned to the home and fired at fire crews and neighbors. One of the neighbors, 44-year-old Corey Michael Saunders, was hit in the head and died. Magnus said Saunders’ young son witnessed the shooting. Another neighbor was grazed. A fire captain, a 17-year veteran of TFD, was hit in the arm. TFD Chief Chuck Ryan said the captain was released from the hospital Sunday night.
“We are shocked and saddened at this senseless act, and we are praying for our injured partners from AMR Ambulance,” Ryan wrote on Twitter. “Also, I am thankful for the swift actions of our #TucsonPolice to neutralize the threat to the community. More to come, but a dark day for Tucson.”
Magnus said Scarlett drove away in the silver SUV and disabled a TPD cruiser by ramming it near the intersection of East 36th Street and South Campbell Avenue. Scarlett allegedly fired at TPD officer Danny Leon as Leon got out of his vehicle. Leon, an eight-year veteran, shot back and stopped Scarlett. Three children who lived at the home were not found Sunday night, but the TPD said Monday morning they were safe. Magnus said the mother of the three children is missing and presumed dead. A body was recovered from the home, but it was too burned to determine the age or sex of the victim. “This is a really horrific incident and our hearts go out obviously to those who are concerned about their loved ones with more serious injuries. We just don’t know,” Magnus said.
Homicide Survivors said it will host a vigil for the victims of the mass shooting on Wednesday. Homicide Survivors said it will provide candles and ribbons and advocates will be present to offer services to anyone who needs it.

On July 18, 2021 at 2:05 pm, an unknown black male was captured on the 800 Perkiomen St firing a handgun several time at the victim, a 30 year-old male. When officers arrived on location they discovered four (4) vehicles with bullet holes and six (6) .40 caliber FCCs. No injuries were reported during this incident.
Suspect Description: Black male, wearing a gray T-shirt with a "New Balance" on the front, black shorts and gray and white sneakers.
