"Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of American group the Four Preps, which was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964.

It attained worldwide fame after being covered and reworked by British synthpop duo Soft Cell in 1981. Buoyed by the then-dominant new wave sound of the time, "Tainted Love" became a major hit in the US during the Second British Invasion, with the song spending a then-record breaking 43 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100. On the US chart dated January 16, 1982, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 90. It appeared to peak at number 64 and fell to number 100 on February 27. After spending a second week at number 100, it started climbing again. It took 19 weeks to crack the American Top 40 and reached number 8 during the summer of 1982.

Soft Cell are an English synth-pop duo who came to prominence in the early 1980s. The duo consisted of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball. The band are primarily known for their 1981 hit version of "Tainted Love" and their platinum-selling debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret.

Hang Them. Shoot Them. Burn Them. But hold your fire. Right now we are in the stage of exposing their crimes.

Exponential growth is an amazing thing. 1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 4, 4 becomes 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and so on. From 1, you are only twenty points of contact away from 1 million.

When 20 to 25 percent of the adult population are aware of them, we will drag them out of their hiding places and hang them by the neck until dead under the full weight of the law. So keep ringing the alarm bell.

Don't go killing, assaulting or smashing up property. It will only feed the beast. Instead, hand out flyers, if you have the balls, protest outside lodges with a picket sign, get creative, there are many ways of skinning a cat. We need to wake up the population to their crimes.

Those in authority will come down on you like a tonne of bricks if you cross that line into vigilante action, and you will be locked up and the key thrown away. Chances are you'll be found dead in your prison cell too, and your no good to the good fight if that happens.

Instead, use your imagination to keep exposing them and their crimes. We need you in the fight, so use your imagination, learn what works for you, and keep sounding the alarm.

Stay safe brothers and sisters. There is a massive silent minority that know about what they're doing at the moment, so let's keep on growing.
