The Land Unknown is a 1957 science fiction CinemaScope adventure film about a naval expedition trapped in an Antarctic jungle. The story was allegedly inspired by the discovery of unusually warm water in Antarctica in 1947. It starred Jock Mahoney and Shirley Patterson and was directed by Virgil W. Vogel.

During WWII, a human heart taken from a lab in Europe is transported to a Japanese lab, where it is exposed to the radiation of the atom bombing of Hiroshima. The heart regenerates into a a complete body and escapes. Later, a feral boy with certain physical deformities (a large head with a flat top) is captured by scientists who refer to him as Frankenstein. The boy grows to the height of 20 feet, escapes again, fights police and the army, and is found to be practically indestructible. A reptilian monster, Baragon, appears and goes on a rampage. Eventually Frankenstein and Baragon face off in a battle to the death.
2 escaped convicts are caught hiding in a rocket by a scientist who forces them to help him pilot the ship to the moon. The scientist is secretly a moon being wanting to return to his home. His partner and his partners fiance stowaway on the ship by accident. They land on the moon and find it to be inhabited by women.
The year is 40,000. Barbarella is a female agent from Earth called on to retrieve the young scientist Durand-Durand from the evil planet of Tau Ceti. Seems he's developed the Postitronic Ray which will bring much discord to the universal peace.
A man and a woman watch a great fireball come down near a mine. They believe the "thing" not to be a meteor but an alien starship. In the following days, people disappear and return, obviously being manipulated in some strange way. After a while, the towns sheriff becomes distrustful and he and his men enter the mine ready to confront what is there. The original observer, believing the aliens to be benign, enters in hopes of reaching a peaceful solution.
