Frequency modulation is one of the fundamental concepts in synthesis. When modulating the frequency of a sound producing oscillator at lower rates, one hears the bending up and down of pitch that we call vibrato. When the rate at which this modulation is sped up, crossing somewhere between 20 Hz - 40 Hz, the effect changes into one in which we hear side bands, or other frequencies of tonal quality that add to the complexity of the frequency spectrum of the sound. FM synthesis is the use of a frequency modulating oscillator to create side bands, shape their parameters over time, and mix them together to complete more complex sounds. In this episode, we will add an FM module to our synthesis to explore the basics of frequency modulation for vibrato and basic spectrum coloration.

Many years ago I started learning 3D design with Blender and I started making tutorials as motivation to focus my learning. Sadly my social media was being besieged by assholes. I even went to the extreme of using synthesized voice hoping to stay anonymous. Inexplicably the cunts found me again and their antics got the Youtube algorithm of it's day to kill my new channel.
However now I want to get back to Blender as I have some ideas that need 3D printing. I won't bother making tutorials as there are plenty others out there now. Just uploading this as a memento and to let it sink in what hypocritical utter cunts these assiduous trolls are.
In this video we finish Chapter 4. We discuss cis-trans isomerism in ring systems, conformations of substituted cyclohexanes, and hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes to produce alkanes.

In this episode, we will take a look at an approach called subtractive synthesis. Subtractive synthesis is usually performed by filtering the frequency spectrum. We will see how to make a band pass filter and a low pass filter that has center and cut off frequency controls as well as Q controls. This will allow us to ass a simple filter to our synthesizer and shape the frequency spectrum better.

MIDI pitchbend is a special controller in the MIDI protocol that allows one to bend pitches smoothly. As we are building our synthesizer in Pure Data, we need to see how we can convert this 14 bit controller data stream into frequency information that allows for the bending of pitch up and down. In this video, we will see how to do that and add this functionality to the synthesizer we are building in PD. By the end of this video, we will see how to smoothly bend pitch up and down at definable ranges of semitones.

MIDI is a protocol that communicates musical actions on devices such that they can speak a universal language. In synthesis, MIDI information needs to be converted into something that digital audio components and software can understand in audio terms. This is a basic demonstration of this as we build a MIDI input module for our virtual synthesizer that we are making in Pure Data. In this lesson we will take in MIDI note and velocity data and utilize it to control our main signal producing oscillator. The viewer will start to see the overall virtual synthesizer that we are building start to come together now that we have gone over some of the basic fundamentals required in learning about synthesis.

So now, a little bit about this song and its history (thanks wikipedia!) In 1910, in Bath, Somerset, the English lawyer and lyricist Frederic Weatherly initially wrote the words to "Danny Boy" to a tune other than "Londonderry Air". After his Irish-born sister-in-law Margaret Enright Weatherly (known as Jess) in the United States sent him a copy of "Londonderry Air" in 1913 (an alternative version of the story has her singing the air to him in 1912 with different lyrics), Weatherly modified the lyrics of "Danny Boy" to fit the rhyme and meter of "Londonderry Air".
Weatherly gave the song to the vocalist Elsie Griffin, who made it one of the most popular songs of the new century. In 1915, Ernestine Schumann-Heink produced the first recording of "Danny Boy".
Jane Ross of Limavady is credited with collecting the melody of "Londonderry Air" in the mid-19th century from a musician she encountered.
Personally I've never even heard of Londonderry Air, but if you're looking for a harmonica lesson on how to play Londonderry Air then this is the tutorial for you I guess!
The original lyrics by Frederick E. Weatherly wen something like this.
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, It's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow,—
Oh, Danny boy, Oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
Ye'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Avé there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend
and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!
That sounds about right.
As for what the lyrics actually mean you can read more about this classic song by visiting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Boy
Now as for the various other things in this tutorial, the crazy gold bathing Leprechaun was drawn by me. That's right, I drew that. It was borrowed from my story The Majestic Unicorn which for the curious among you can be read hear https://kertoons.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-majestic-unicorn.html If enough people ask me, maybe I'll make a video based on it one day. I would have done it already but no one seems to like my songs/stories, they just want me for my tutorials.
The wonderful green clover patch was pulled from Timothy Dykes on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@timothycdykes
I drew the rainbow myself too. The special effects. Those were me, with a little help from Adobe Audition and the audio, all recorded by me on Logic Pro X and using my snow ball blue, for the most part... well, for the some part... can't remember what the name of my other mic is. Anyway, if you are the impatient type and can't wait, and I mean really can't actually wait for reals, until my next video comes out then don't forget, you can check out my TABS page, there's a link in the description below, and until next time stay tuned.

In this episode, we are going to learn about wave shaping. This is a technique for creating different sounds by changing the shape of the waveform. Additionally, we will see how to make the 4 basic wave shapes in synthesis. These wave shapes include the sine wave, triangle wave, square or pulse wave, and the sawtooth wave. These shapes have been used since the early days of synthesis right up to today. They can be used to generate sound that is further crafted and they can be used to create shapes for modulating sound. This episode is full of information about PD and the viewer will learn how to make a multi-oscillator module. This is a must see episode for those who want to learn PD and those who want to learn synthesis.

BitChute is gonna start seeing more programming tutorials because of me. I also have a YouTube channel where I will be streaming part three of my "A Summer With The Shiba Inu" series:
https://youtu.be/ahfI2aZgtzU
I am also planning and working on my next music live stream for my YouTube channel. I won't be able to upload my music live streams onto BitChute for some reason. It's not a copyright issue because I make sure to use copyright free music, but I don't think it's the music part that's the problem. I know we all hate YouTube here on BitChute, but I like to keep my content pretty fun. Thank you for watching!

A brief description of what the web is and what happens when you visit a webpage.
An essential part of synthesis is learning about overtones, undertones, harmonics, and partials. these are the components of a sound's frequency material that make up its tone color. Tone color is the unique sound of an instrument or voice and in synthesis, it is at the heart of the creative process. This lesson shows how to use Pure Data to demonstrate the concept of making harmonics and partials to change the tone color of a sound. This lesson also uses Adobe Audition and Spear by Michael Klingbeil to demonstrate the concepts of overtones, harmonics, and partials.

One more thing. If you are happy with your "Tweaks" settings in the homm3HD mod program, You can save the info, and copy/paste it in notepad and save it, if you plan on installing this game again on another PC or something, all you need is to copy/paste the saved text to the "Tweaks" settings that you put out there. Incase you dont wanna do all that work again.
We are about to go on an adventure in which we will learn about the art of synthesis using the open source programming environment, Pure Data. PD is a free download and is a very wide-open creative environment for artists to create all things audio and MIDI. It is a great way to learn synthesis as it allows you to build synthesizer components from the ground up to truly know what they are and how they function. This series is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of synthesis so that one will be able to apply this knowledge to any software or even analog hardware synthesizer in the future. In this series, the learning of Pure Data and synthesis is made easy.
This episode goes over some of the basics of PD so that one can become more comfortable with the software. Additionally, digital audio fundamentals are covered, specifically sampling rate. This episode shows how sampling sound is a process of converting electrical signal into digital information that can then be managed and visualized in a waveform display. Digital audio is composed of numbers that store the information of the waveform of the sound that was sampled.

One weird trick to align layers by hand in GIMP! This technique uses the "invert" command with a half-transparent layer to create an emboss effect that goes away more as your layer alignment is more correct. There are plugins around the internet that will align layers for you, but this is a fast, easy way to do it with stock GIMP. It won't help with layers that are misaligned due to rotation or scaling, only vertical and horizontal movement, but most pictures seem to only suffer from H/V offsets, so it's a handy trick to have in your GIMP toolkit.
Watch my HDR in GIMP tutorial that was mentioned in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mwYvzwKo3Q
Part of my GIMP Tutorial Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7RxkOabi7GxfVowPXxdOyhtdiYW-pVlL
Image stacking tutorials for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom have been around for years, but they cost money! Gimp is a free image editor and with the help of a free plugin you can do the same image stacking technique without buying Photoshop.
Even a really cheap camera can take good photos if you can stick it on a tripod and combine several shots into one. In this video, I'll show you how to take a bunch of noisy videos with weak detail and use Gimp with G'Mic-Qt to stack them into one high-quality photo. Get G'Mic-Qt here: https://gmic.eu/download.shtml
Update: this works with Gimp 2.10 as well; make sure you download the correct version of G'Mic for Gimp 2.10! You can also "cheaply" stack images (though the quality will be somewhat lower) by loading all the photos as layers and changing all of the layers to 50 percent opacity except for the bottom layer. This will have the effect of averaging the pixels rather than taking a median which is an inferior method of stacking but works in any image editor with layers and per-layer opacity.
A step list was requested by kelsi6273, so here it is:
0. (Prerequisite) Take several identical photos of the exact same thing with the camera on a tripod using full manual settings.
1. Install Gimp 2.8 and G'Mic-Qt and open Gimp.
2. Open the first image in Gimp from a file explorer window.
3. Select all other identical images (excluding the one you opened) and drag and drop them all into the Layers Panel. If it's difficult for you to select them all, drag them one by one.
4. Go to the Filters menu - G'Mic-Qt...
5. In the list of filters, expand the "Layers" category and select the "Blend [median]" filter.
6. Make sure "Input/Output" drop-down boxes are set to "all visible" and "new active layer(s)" (the other two don't matter much.)
7. A new layer will be created with the stacked result of all the images you've loaded combined. You're done!
8. If you get an out-of-memory error, try stacking less layers at once, then stacking the resulting stacked layers into a final stacked layer.

You've seen all the cool kids with their Lightroom HDR tutorials, right? I'll show you how to do HDR photography with the free program called Gimp! Restore lost detail in blown-out highlights and crushed shadows without buying a fancy editor or trying to figure out the weird free HDR applications out there only to end up with what looks like a mangled Christmas tree painted by a toddler.
This tutorial will quickly explain how to load your bracketed exposures into Gimp, mask off only the parts that have been damaged by dynamic range limits, and combine the layers to bring back that delicious lost detail.
More info: HDR photography is only appropriate for high-contrast scenes that have no noticeable movement between shots. The HDR I demonstrate here is not fancy; most HDR software has really fancy algorithms to decide how to perform tone mapping, but I found such software to be overly complex and prone to producing bad results easily. When most people want to do HDR, they really just mean that they want to lower the contrast to the point that the blown and crushed areas are visible again. My approach is a simple and naive approach where you build a mask based on what is wrong with the main exposure, then partially mix in the bracketed exposure data using that mask. Since there are two bracketed exposures, there are two masks to be made and mixed. It's amazing what you can do with GIMP if you have a little imagination and understand the features well enough.
Update: this technique works the same way with the newly-released Gimp 2.10. I'll publish future tutorials with 2.10 instead of 2.8.

***Special Note:*** This guide is for the normal (not easy) build mode found in the hangar above the easy-build hall. You will need to buy all of the components that make up the ship or collect the ore for them before you can use the ships you design there. That being said, this video is about the concepts of design, not the details of building a ship. You may be able to apply some of these to easy build mode.
As Blackhawk and I talked on my party stage ship, it became clear that there was a need for a ship that could demonstrate all the major functions of a Starbase ship in an easy to understand way. Thus, I present the tutorial ship. It should be noted that this is just an overview, not a deep dive into all of the details of each step in the process. For more in-depth guides, see my "Bytesized" playlist.
This video is the companion to the ship. I think you'll learn more from downloading the ship and looking around at it in the SSC. Remember to press 'u' on things to see what is going on with their fields. Try to find matching pairs (eg. button named same thing as hinge).
If you have any questions about this video, the ship or about Starbase in general, feel free to ask them in the comments or find me on the Starbase Discord or forums. There are lots of other helpful people (not just me), eager to help on the Discord or forums too.
