"Panama" is a song by the American rock band Van Halen. It was the third single released from the album 1984.
The song was reportedly written about a car. In an interview with Howard Stern, lead singer David Lee Roth explained the meaning behind the song. Although the song features some suggestive lyrics, it is about a car that Roth saw race in Las Vegas; its name was "Panama Express", hence the title of the song.

Panama was also the name of Roth's Opel Kadett.

Roth wrote the song after being accused by a reporter of singing about only women, partying, and fast cars. He realized he'd never written a song about fast cars, and decided to write one.

In a interview with guitarist Eddie Van Halen, he said the song was musically inspired by AC/DC's straightforward three chord rock style (Van Halen played with them on their first tour in 1978 and on the 1984 tour).

During the bridge of the song where Roth says "I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off," Eddie Van Halen can be heard revving his 1972 Lamborghini Miura S in the background. The car was backed up to the studio and microphones were attached to the exhaust pipe to record the sound for the song.

Van Halen was an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1973. Credited with "restoring hard rock to the forefront of the music scene", Van Halen was known for its energetic live shows and for the virtuosic talent of its lead guitarist, Eddie Van Halen. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

From 1974 until 1985, Van Halen consisted of Eddie Van Halen; Eddie's brother, drummer Alex Van Halen; vocalist David Lee Roth; and bassist/vocalist Michael Anthony. Upon its release in 1978, the band's self-titled debut album reached No. 19 on the Billboard pop music charts and would sell over 10 million copies in the U.S. By 1982, the band released four more albums (Van Halen II, Women and Children First, Fair Warning, and Diver Down), all of which have since been certified multi-platinum. By the early 1980s, Van Halen was one of the most successful rock acts of the day. The album 1984 was a commercial success with U.S. sales of 10 million copies and four hit singles; its lead single, "Jump", was the band's only U.S. number one single.

In 1985, Roth left the band to embark on a solo career and was replaced by former Montrose lead vocalist Sammy Hagar. With Hagar, the group released four U.S. number-one, multi-platinum albums over the course of 11 years (5150 in 1986, OU812 in 1988, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge in 1991, and Balance in 1995). Hagar left the band in 1996 shortly before the release of the band's first greatest hits collection, Best Of – Volume I. Former Extreme frontman Gary Cherone replaced Hagar and recorded the commercially unsuccessful album Van Halen III with the band in 1998, before parting ways in 1999. Van Halen then went on hiatus until reuniting with Hagar in 2003 for a worldwide tour in 2004 and the double-disc greatest hits collection The Best of Both Worlds. Hagar again left Van Halen in 2005. In 2006 Roth returned, but Anthony was replaced on bass guitar by Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son. In 2012, the band released their final studio album A Different Kind of Truth, which was commercially and critically successful; it was also Van Halen's only album with Roth in 28 years and the only one to feature Wolfgang.

As of March 2019, Van Halen is 20th on the RIAA list of best-selling artists in the United States; the band has sold 56 million albums in the States and more than 80 million worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups of all time. As of 2007, Van Halen is one of only five rock bands with two studio albums to sell more than 10 million copies in the United States and is tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American band. Additionally, Van Halen has charted 13 number-one hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. VH1 ranked the band seventh on a list of the top 100 Hard Rock artists of all time.

1080p mp4 s18e17 definitely not the Panama off of 1984's 1984 album episode or anything.

When Peter embarrasses Lois by admitting he has never read a book at a cocktail party she's throwing, she insists that he read something from the library and recommends Orwell's 1984. But when he's accidentally given Van Halen's album 1984, he becomes hooked on the music until Lois gets fed up with it and insists that he take it back. But on the way back to the library, Ernie the Giant Chicken wordlessly challenges him to a drag race where he is distracted by a squirrel and smashes into a tree, falling into a coma.

While Peter undergoes a series of dreams and hallucinations, his family and friends gather around him. He goes into cardiac arrest, but the doctors are able to get his heart started again. However, Dr. Hartman brings news that he is brain-dead and gives Lois the option of pulling the plug. Peter dreams of a cruise ship in the Panama Canal with numerous deceased previous characters. They encourage him to board as well, but when he asks for the Wi-Fi password, he discovers there is none and refuses to go, coming out of his coma to find Lois holding the plug to his life support.

Back home, he is understandably upset that she would nearly end his life while she's surprised that he hasn't killed himself in one of his stunts yet. In revenge, he makes a series of unreasonable demands, but when things come to a head, she walks out with the kids intending to leave him. After some time alone Peter realizes he's going to miss his family, and thanks to some fast driving to the sound of Van Halen's "Panama", stops them at the airport where everyone reconciles.

"Why Can't This Be Love" is a song by the American rock band Van Halen for their seventh studio album, 5150 (1986). The song was released as the lead single from 5150 on February 26, 1986, through Warner Bros. Records. It was the group's first single with lead vocalist Sammy Hagar, who replaced founding member David Lee Roth. It was released on both 7" and 12" single formats, the 12" single featuring an extended version of the song. The song is driven by bouncy lead keyboard work from Eddie Van Halen performed on an Oberheim OB-8.[5]

It was a hit single for the band, rising to number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and helping 5150 reach the number one slot on the albums chart, a first for the band. It was also a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany and a top 20 single in Canada, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Chuck Klosterman of Vulture.com ranked it the worst Van Halen song, saying that the band's decision to release the song as the first single of the Sammy Hagar era was "the worst decision the band ever made," but said it was not his least favorite Van Halen song to listen to.

Van Halen were an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1974. Credited with "restoring hard rock to the forefront of the music scene",[2] Van Halen was known for its energetic live shows and for the virtuosic talent of its lead guitarist, Eddie Van Halen. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

In this video we have a look at the famous tapping section from Eddie Van Halen's famous Eruption guitar solo instrumental masterpiece which inspired generations of guitarists since it first erupted into the muscial guitar world.

The guitar tablature (tab) in this video is an accurate representation of the original recording on Van Halen's debut album from 1978.

The guitar demonstration does deviate a little fron the guitar tab, but serves as a guide to those who would like to learn this tapping sequence. The phrasing is slightly different, but the notes stay the same, so you can use this demonstration as a guide and to perhaps play the sequence in your own style and way of playing.

Check out the original Eruption recording from Van Halen's first album and compare the notes from the guitar tablature to the original recording and search any live performances on YouTube or elsewhere to see differences in the way Eddie might play his solo to Eddie's original recording. Observe Eddie's hands and they way he plays and also check out how other guitarists hold their hands while covering/playing Eddie's Eruption.

We hope this video helps those who wish to learn the tapping section from Eddie Van Halen's well known solo and give those who might be starting out and insight into the tapping technique popularised by Eddie Van Halen himself.

"Dreams" is a song by Van Halen released in 1986 from the album 5150. It was the second single from that album, and it reached number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart that year.

"Dreams" was written during the Sammy Hagar era of the band. Eddie Van Halen played guitar and keyboards on the studio version of this song. During the 5150 Tour, he played the keyboards and switched to the guitar during the first solo, while Hagar played the rhythm parts.

There were three music videos made for the song. The most well known version was shot in 1986 and featured the US Navy's Blue Angels performing a variety of aerial stunts with the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk.

During the recording session, according to the album's producer, Mick Jones, "Sammy Hagar was singing so high that he was hyperventilating...he nearly passed out."

Drawing American songwriter and guitarist Eddie Van Halen. He was the main songwriter and guitarist of the American rock band Van Halen, which he co-founded in 1972 with his brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, bassist Mark Stone, and singer David Lee Roth. He is regarded as one of the all-time greatest guitar players in rock history, and was well known for popularizing the tapping guitar solo technique, allowing rapid arpeggios to be played with two hands on the fretboard. Since this solo is the one that put Eddie on the map as the most innovative player of his day, I've spent the last couple of weeks learning it in order to play it in tribute to him.

I had the pleasure of seeing Van Halen when they played The Palace Of Auburn Hills in 2012 on the Different Kind Of Truth tour, which is where I got the tee shirt I wore in the video.

I'm going to frame that t-shirt and hang it up on my wall as a reminder of getting to see one of my heroes, as well as learning to play his most famous tune.

We was broke and hungry on a summer day;
They sent the sheriff down to try 'n drive us away.

We was sittin' ducks for the police man;
They found a dirty-faced kid in a garbage can . . .

Ooooh

And I'm alone--I'm on the highway--
Hoo Yah: DEAD OR ALIVE!
(Dead or alive.)

Broken down & dirty; dressed in rags . . .
Uh, from the day my momma told me, "Boy, You pack your bags."

[They] sent the mayor down in his pick-up truck;
The jury looked at me, say, "Out of luck."

And in the beginning there was darkness, and the Almighty said "Let there Be Rock" .. and there was Rock, and it was good, but if Jimi Hendrix was The Old Testament, then Edward Van Halen was truly The Messiah we had all been waiting for. Never in the history of Rock, let alone music has there been such a huge influence on so many other great musicians. Van Halen was beyond legend.
Edward Van Halen will be remembered alongside the likes of Hendrix, Lennon, Vivaldi, Mozart and Bach. His music and influence will live on.

Out upon the islands on a cool summer night . . .
Buddy, you don't got to hurry
Take your time.

What you need is on the menu, and you get it tonight
Buddy, you got womens on your mind.

Could this be "magic"
Or could this be "Love?"

Could this turn tragic?
You know that magic often does . . .

(And I see)
Lonely ships upon the water
Better save the women and children first.
Sail away with someone's daughter . . .
Better save the women and children first.

I hear music on the land
And then there's laughter in the air;
Just could be your boat is comin' in.
Ya, your leanin' back, and you're foot in time;
It ain't got you're head right
There's a full moon out tonight,
Baby, let's begin.

(And she said:)

Could this be "magic"

(Uh oh; and I said:)

And I see: lonely ships upon the water;

Better save the women and children first.

"Love Walks In" is one of the five songs issued as singles from Van Halen's 1986 album 5150.

"The first time Eddie played me that song, late one night, I got goosebumps," recalled singer Sammy Hagar. "It was so beautiful. I wrote the lyrics on the spot and I sang it live with a hand-held mic. If you listen closely, it ain't the best vocal sound in the world, but the performance is slammin'."

The song starts with Eddie Van Halen (lead guitar, keyboards) playing a slow synth, and kicks into the song. The song begins in the key of C and moves into F for the band entrance, then going to the relative D minor for the verses. The pre-chorus jumps to A minor, and in the chorus it goes back to C, keeping a cyclic structure.

It charted at number 4 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart. It also reached number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.

5150 (pronounced "fifty-one-fifty") is the seventh studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen, released on March 24, 1986 by Warner Bros. Records. It was the first of four albums to be recorded with lead singer Sammy Hagar, who replaced David Lee Roth. The album was named after Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150, in turn named after a California law enforcement term for a mentally disturbed person (a reference to Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code). The 5150 name has been used several times by Van Halen. The album hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing the band's previous album, 1984, which had peaked at number 2 behind Michael Jackson's Thriller album, on which Eddie Van Halen made a guest appearance.

"Panama" is a song by the American hard rock band Van Halen.

He had the hood and bumper mounted in his hallway, which can be seen in his video for "SHOOBop". He has a stuffed deer's behind crashing through the front windshield. A plaque underneath reads, "Your First Deer, courtesy of PANAMA."

Roth wrote the song after being accused by a reporter of singing about only women, partying and fast cars. He realized he'd never actually written a song about fast cars, and decided to write one.

During the bridge of the song where Roth says "I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off," guitarist Eddie Van Halen can be heard revving his 1972 Lamborghini Miura S in the background. The car was backed up to the studio and microphones were attached to the exhaust pipe to record the sound for the song.

The car seen in the music video is a heavily customized 1951 Mercury convertible - notably not "Panama Express", the Opel or the Miura.

"Jump" is a song by American hard rock band Van Halen. It was released in December 1983 as the lead single from their album 1984. It is Van Halen's most successful single to date, reaching number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. TDavid Lee Roth dedicated the song to martial artist Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, of whom he was a student.

Musically, the song was a departure from the band's hard rock style, embracing more of a popular and radio-friendly sound. "Jump" has been described as a "synth rocker", as a combination of hard rock and pop, as exemplifying pop rock of the 1980s, built on a classic rock foundation of repeated bass notes and having standard rock instrumentation, and as "a true rock masterpiece."

And please check out our podcast “Pop Culture Paradise” with Joey and Jeff. “Pop Culture Paradise” is a show all about exploring all the crazy entertainment that’s been put out into the universe. Both of us are 80s babies who grew up in the 90s. Of course we grew up in the 90s, it would be weird if we grew up in the 60s. I guess we could always be time travelers. I’ve always wanted to be Marty Mcfly. We could talk about anything really. We could be reviewing classic movies, current movies, coming up with elaborate theories, telling tales from the 80s to 2000s, talking about pickups or going to different events. We won’t pull punches on topics, but we also will give a counter argument. If you like the show, you can subscribe here if you like to watch in video form or on iTunes if you want to listen on the go (or at 1.5 speed, because you like us talking at a coke head’s pace).
