Walmart: "The associate involved has been suspended"
MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (WDJT) - A 70-year-old woman says she was repeatedly punched in the face by a Walmart employee after the two had a verbal argument. She says no one tried to help her and is now encouraging anyone who witnesses a similar incident to step in.
Police responded to a Walmart location in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, around 7:00 p.m. July 7 for reports of a 70-year-old woman who was punched multiple times in the head by a 17-year-old cashier.
The victim, P.K. Shader, sustained injuries to the head and face but did not require immediate medical attention. She says this kind of behavior from employees is unacceptable. “It has been quite a journey. Why anyone would do that? I don’t know. And why no one helped is even more, especially in a Walmart store,” Shader said. Both the employee, identified as Jazareia Velasquez, and Shader indicated the incident arose over a verbal argument. According to the criminal complaint, Shader asked to speak to a manager after having a negative interaction with Velasquez. She also attempted to take a picture of the employee to report her. “She went crazy. She flew, and she punched me, fist right here [in the face] over and over again,” Shader said. “I’m never walking into Walmart again, that’s for sure.”
Velasquez was arrested and later charged with aggravated battery to an elderly person and disorderly conduct.
Shader says what took her by surprise the most was that no one stepped in to help her during the incident, even though employees apparently knew of Velasquez’s temperament. “What if it was your grandmother? What if it was your mother?... The managers knew she was a loose cannon. The first manager said nothing. The second one told me so. So, why did they keep an employee like that? That’s a bigger problem than not having security,” Shader said.
As she recovers, Shader wants people to know that if they ever see an incident like this to step in and help in whatever way you can. “I just want to tell people: ‘Pull out your phone. Give somebody a break.’ No one’s asking you to dive in and be hurt, but pull out your phone and document it and yell, ‘Call the police,’” she said. Shader plans on filing a restraining order against Velasquez. She and her attorney are exploring other options to send a message and make sure this never happens to anyone else.
Walmart released the following statement on the incident: “We want all of our customers to have a pleasant shopping experience in our stores. The associate involved has been suspended, and we continue to assist law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.”

Newly-released video shows the moment an elderly woman with dementia was confronted by Walmart employees after forgetting to pay for her items and later walking home empty-handed, just moments before she was violently arrested by police.
Security footage obtained by DailyMail.com shows 73-year-old Karen Garner trying to walk out of a Loveland, Colorado Walmart last June after allegedly failing to pay for $13 worth of items: a soda, a candy bar, a T-shirt, and wipe refills.
Garner was stopped by staff and asked to return to the store where they were ultimately able to recover the unpaid merchandise.
Despite suffering no loss, Walmart reported the incident to police, who later located Garner picking flowers down the road and arrested her by slamming her to the ground, causing her to fracture her elbow and dislocate her shoulder.
Footage of the violent arrest went viral after its release earlier this month as part of a new lawsuit filed by Garner's family against the Loveland Police Department over violation of her civil rights. Four officers have been placed on administrative leave amid an investigation.
Attorney Sarah Schielke said forgetting to pay for items in stores is common among people with dementia and revealed Garner also suffers from sensory aphasia, which impairs her ability to communicate and understand what other people are saying.
Garner's impairment seems to be evident in store security footage which shows her apparently trying to dodge employees as they attempt to detain her at the exit.
In a 53-second inaudible clip, Garner is seen holding the unpaid items in her hand as she's confronted by a male employee who tries to block her from leaving.
The man attempts to direct her back into the store, but Garner appears to be uncooperative, prompting another employee to come and assist.
The two men eventually escort the grandmother back into the store where the items were retrieved.
Another video clip reveals Garner was actually stopped a second time while walking out of the store after the merchandise was returned.
In a 36-second clip, she is seen leaving the supermarket, this time empty-handed, as two men and a woman chase after her and try to detain her again.
Garner, who appears frazzled, manages to evade them and exits the store at a seemingly normal pace as the employees trail behind.
She is seen heading towards E 13th Street, near the 2600 block of Mountain Lion Drive, where she was eventually stopped by officer Austin Hopp.
The videos plus the lawsuit filed against Hopp, other officers and the city come amid a national reckoning over the use of force by police against people - including those with mental and physical health conditions.
Hopp, as well as three other officers targeted in the lawsuit, have been reassigned to administrative duties amid the investigation, the Loveland Police Department said.
According to the lawsuit, Walmart staff had called police to report Garner and told them the direction she walking, but said the store had not suffered a loss.
Police body camera footage showed Garner appeared visibly confused after being stopped by the officer, repeatedly telling him that she was going home.
In an amended complaint filed this week, Schielke said Garner had walked out of the store after being detained because she was unable to 'communicate' with staff or 'fully grasp what was going on'.
She claimed Hopp then responded to the call, but did not 'talk to anyone at Walmart first' or request any additional information.
'Instead he just went looking for a petite elderly lady walking eastbound in a neighborhood next to Walmart, as had been described by Walmart employees to dispatch,' the lawsuit states.
Hopp located Garner a quarter mile away from the store, 'walking peaceably in a field' and 'picking wildflowers' as she headed to her apartment.
'Her walking pace was slow and unhurried,' Schielke said in court papers.
In an affidavit of the warrantless arrest obtained by DailyMail.com, Hopp said he found the woman shortly after she 'fled on foot' and activated his emergency lights to get her to stop.

Concord Police identified a 32-year-old Charlotte man as the former Walmart employee who drove his car into the store near Concord Mills early Friday morning. Officials said Lacy Cordell Gentry drove his 2015 Volkswagen Passat through the front doors of the store on Thunder Road just before 6 a.m. and continued to drive through the store.

A group of four girls who were arrested in the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old girl in a Louisiana Walmart bragged about it on social media after fleeing the store, saying: 'Oh well, she dead now'.
The 15-year-old girl died in hospital from the injuries she sustained in the attack that was streamed live on social media at the Lake Charles Walmart on Saturday night.
One of the girls, aged 13, was eventually tracked down by police and taken into custody on a charge of second-degree murder.
Three other girls, aged 12, 13 and 14, were arrested on charges of being principals to second-degree murder.
Footage has since emerged of the girls bragging about the alleged killing on social media after fleeing the store.
'I don't give f**k. If she killed her, she killed her. Oh f***ing well. She dead now,' one of the girls says in the video.
The video was posted while police were searching for the group of teens.
In a bid to track them down, police had released a surveillance image of the 13-year-old stabbing suspect as she fled the Walmart.
The girls had allegedly used a knife they had stolen from the store in the fatal attack and were spotted in a kitchen aisle just moments earlier.
Footage of the stabbing, which was also posted on social media, showed the suspect armed with what appeared to be a knife as the victim approached and lunged at her.
Videos showed the group of girls fleeing the store in a getaway car as one of them screamed: 'Just stabbed somebody at Walmart'.
'We just stabbed that b***h in her heart. We don't give a f**k.'
Authorities have not yet confirmed who was driving the car.
Police initially named the 13-year-old wanted over the stabbing in a Facebook post when they were trying to track her down. The other three girls were not named.
The victim's identity has not been publicly released.
Authorities have also not revealed a motive for the attack but police believe the confrontation may have started at a nearby movie theater.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso confirmed that investigators have videos of the fatal stabbing that the alleged attackers posted on Facebook and Instagram live.
'They stole knives from the actual store where they were at. It is really heart-breaking when we have to come in and pick up the pieces because so many families are damaged after this,' Mancuso said during a press conference.
'Our whole case unfolded before us through live Facebook and Instagram... we have videos of everything that took place and it's very disturbing.
'The whole murder was played out on (social media) so, again, there appeared to be no remorse. It was very cold to see 12, 13, 14 and 15-year-olds acting this way and we as a society can't tolerate it. We cannot let this plague and take over our community.'
The sheriff issued a plea for parents to 'take control' and said it was problem of 'kids having access to weapons'.
'This is the third homicide in six months that we've had that involved juveniles that range from 11 to 16 years old. They come from all backgrounds, all races. This is just a problem that we are having with kids having access to weapons,' he said.
'This is not something we can police ourselves out o... I just don't feel like this is a police matter. This is a parenting issue.'

I finally got a custom made mask that says "This Mask is Useless", and I wore it at Sam's Club and Walmart to see what kind of reaction I would get from other shoppers or employees. Unfortunately, only the Walmart "Health Ambassador" noticed it and reacted with a chuckle. I think most people wearing a mask in these stores are just not paying attention, and they are just compliant lemmings wearing their masks.
You're looking at worshipers having their church service at Walmart since churches are all closed by fascists. The whole reason why this COVID19 Lockdown doesn't make sense is because lies usually don't make much sense. It's a hoax! That's why.
