Italian dictator Benito Mussolini banned the film from Italy because he thought it was a direct attack on him. When news of this reached The Marx Brothers, they were reportedly ecstatic.
Shortly before this film premiered, the city of Fredonia, New York, complained about the use of its name with an additional "e". The Marx Brothers' response was, "Change the name of your town, it's hurting our picture."
Groucho Marx offered the following explanation for the movie's title: "Take two turkeys, one goose, four cabbages, but no duck, and mix them together. After one taste, you'll duck soup the rest of your life."
Final film of Zeppo Marx. After the film's premiere, he quit The Marx Brothers, citing a dissatisfaction with movie acting overall, and a weariness with being the butt of jokes regarding him as the "unfunny" Marx brother.

Nicky and Tacy are going to be married. Nicky wants to save up money for a house, but Tacy dreams of starting off with their own home on wheels--a trailer.
Trivia
During the scenes of Nicky and Tacy pulling their trailer in the mountains, their 1953 Mercury Monterey convertible is replaced with a larger but similar appearing 1953 Lincoln Capri convertible. The distinct Lincoln grille is clearly evident in a shot as the car rounds a curve. The more powerful Lincoln (which is equipped with a 205 HP V8 engine) was needed to pull the heavy New Moon trailer up and over the steep grades of the Sierra Nevada where the scenes were filmed.
The trailer from the movie was made in Alma, Michigan. One woman, who made the curtains for the movie, received a piece of the set, the round table that folds. It is still in the family as an heirloom.
The trailer, a 1953 New Moon, used in the film is 32 feet in length and weighed more than 3 tons total.
When Nicky and Tacy are at the service station after being pulled out of the mud there is a Phillip Morris sign on the front of the station. Phillip Morris was the sponsor of I Love Lucy (1951) at the time.
The New Moon trailers, produced by The Redman Trailer Co. (as per original sales brochures & in viewing the actual 1953 models), didn't come with a "sunken living room" as was highlighted in the film. This was done to add a reason for Desi Arnaz's character to take his pratfall when first entering the trailer. You can see that the floor of the kitchen is flat with the living room floor if you look closely when he opens the door for the first time at the trailer show, as this was simply a regular production coach in the shot. The interior shots had a "dropped" section in the living room area and you can see that the vent windows are much further from the ceiling than they would be as seen from the exterior. New Moon trailers also had a furnace in the corner between the front door and the kitchen cabinet. It is assumed this was removed from the interior mock up for aesthetic reasons.
Clinton Twiss was the author of the bestselling book "The Long, Long Trailer" on which the movie of the same title was based. Sadly, he was never able to see the finished film based on his handiwork, having died approximately fifteen months prior to its release.
Although M-G-M contract players Marjorie Main and Keenan Wynn have billing just below Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in the film's credits, neither of them is seen for more than a minute or two in the movie, suggesting that they may have been cast as "box office insurance."
After filming, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz kept the trailer used in the movie at their home. In an interview, daughter Lucie Arnaz recalls using it as the children's playhouse and how much fun they had opening and closing the door to hear the chimes.
This was the first film of a multi-picture deal Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz signed with M-G-M when I Love Lucy (1951) was America's #1 rated TV show. When their second vehicle Forever, Darling (1956) turned out to be a box office and critical disaster, the rest of the contract remained unfulfilled.

The local hangout is "Arthur's." Without any explanation, it becomes "Arnold's" by the second episode of the series.

Maurice tells Joel that he had to paint the apostrophe in "Roslyn's Cafe" himself, because the artist who had done the mural was so high on weed that he forgot it. The Goo Goo Dolls were considered, but Hart Bochner thought that they wouldn't be recognized in America because they weren't well-known at the time. Bochner finally decided on P-Funk.
Jeremy Piven (Droz) smoked cigarettes filled with ground up fruit and not tobacco since he does not smoke in real life.
PCU was filmed in the city of Toronto, and in one scene, the building referred to as "the freshman dorms" is actually the Ontario Provincial Legislature.
According to Jeremy Piven, director Hart Bochner would not allow actors to improvise. He was able to include only limited improvisation such as "Don't be that guy" and only after enlisting the help of the writers. Bochner disputes this saying he allowed improvisation on the set by shooting scenes his way and then doing it Piven's way.
Jeremy Piven contracted malaria during filming. He lost 8 pounds overnight. He passed out during filming of the scene at the bicentennial celebration. His weight loss is apparent between the beginning of the movie and the party scene in "the Pit".
PCU was made by a graduate of Wesleyan University, and is based on the school. In the opening sequence, there is a shot of the main library (Olin) and one of the residence halls (Clark) of the school, in Middletown, CT.

Doug's a concierge at a luxury hotel on Manhattan. He saves all his tips towards his plan for a hotel. A potential investor seduces the girl, Doug loves, with false promises of leaving his wife. Doug's dilemma: hotel project or girl?
Trivia
The majority of the filming took place around Midtown Manhattan for the hotel scenes, Barney's Department Store where Gabrielle Anwar's character works, the Central Park scenes, FAO Schwartz, the jazz club and where Doug chats up with Freddy the horse carrarige rider. While other scenes such as Christian's Mansion in the Hamptons, Doug and Andy's apartments in the city and Doug's dream hotel site in Roosevelt Island were shot not too far away.
The hotel that Doug works as The Concerige is in fact, The Essex Hotel located on 59th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues across the street from Central Park. It is still open to this very day.
The original title for this film was "The Concierge", but the studio was worried that many people would not know what that meant, so the title was changed several months before release.
The hotel that Doug played by Michael J. Fox wants to open is called The Riverhouse. The scene was filmed around Roosevelt Island which sits on the East River between the island of Manhattan and Queens.
The supersized giraffe that Michael J. Fox's character is seen with in the opening moments and inside the limo was bought at the famous FAO Schwartz toy store that was located about a block away from where the film was being shot at the Essex House over on 59th Street. FAO Schwartz sadly went out of business in 2015, 22 years after this film was made.
One of three films featuring Gabrielle Anwar as a lead or co-star in 1993. The others were remakes of Disney's The Three Musketeers and Body Snatchers, which was the modern update of Invasion of The Body Snatchers which was directed by Abel Ferrera, but the film was delayed by Warner Bros. from its original October 1993 release date and eventually buried to a January 1994 release with very little marketing or distribution.
Milton sends Christian the empty Rolex box that was meant to be for Harry as a tax write off and sends Doug's hotel plans to Harry instead of Christian which explains why at the end of the movie after Doug and Andy arrive at the hotel during their wedding and gets a call from Harry stating that he loves his idea for the hotel and wanted to invest in it.
