Every day we deal with adversity. That is true for everyone. It is especially true for believers. The prince of this world brings all his weapons to bear on us. How do we stand up. David dealt with more adversity than most of us will ever know. In this Psalm he teaches how to deal with and overcome adversity.

• When you were down and you need the Lord to shine the light of his truth upon you, remind yourself whose you are. You are his. You have been set apart by him. He will take care of you.

This Psalm lays out the walk of covenant loyalty and faithfulness to the Lord. As such it is a wonderful description of the manner in which David strove to live. Even more, It is the perfect description of the way the Messiah did live.

In this Psalm we see David praise God’s goodness to Man and his goodness to the “Son of Man.” Inspired by the Holy Spirit David again talks on two levels
1. God’s goodness to us and all his blessings
2. God’s goodness through the “Son of Man” and the grace and salvation that would be worked through him
David was writing one thing, the Holy Spirit took it to a new level altogether.

We see the wealth, we see the power, we behold the adulation those with wealth and power enjoy and, like the Psalmist, we are envious. This is an "US" problem.
