Right now we’re interviewing Greg Durel. He’s the pastor at Heritage Bible Church at Gretna, Louisiana. He has a radio—weekly radio ministry, which is devoted to educating Catholics in biblical doctrine.

Greg, we’ve been dealing with dogmas, issues, thoughts, on the basis of what Catholics think. Does it conform, well, first of all to their own church—how does it compare with what the Bible teaches? So this is truth! Now, the Emerging Church, which we’ve discussed for a number of weeks, they have left truth behind. They don’t believe the Bible is truth. Really? We’re going to have to discuss that. It may take us years!

Now, it can’t be that complicated. It’s like—remember? The Catholics and the Lutherans—they’ve discussed Justification by Faith for thirty years, and finally concluded—well, they agreed—"Well, I guess the Reformation was a semantic misunderstanding, and all the people that were burned at the stake. It’s a pity that they were, but it was just a misunderstanding.”

This is our Understanding the Scripture segment, we are in the gospel of Matthew, and we are in Matthew chapter 2, and Dave, I’m going to pick up with verse 12:“And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.”Of course this is referring to the wise men.Verse 13:“And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word:for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”Of course this is a dream, and we talked about dreams last week, and this is the way the Lord communicated to Joseph to preserve him, and certainly, Mary and the baby Jesus.

Las declaraciones con que iniciamos este capítulo y el anterior indican que, desde los días de Spurgeon hasta hoy, los líderes cristianos han cambiado dramáticamente su forma de pensar respecto al catolicismo romano. Durante 350 años la mayoría de los credos protestantes señalaban el papado como el sistema del anticristo. Ahora están abandonando esa opinión.
