"flip and burn" = in zero-G you never slow down ever, so actual spaceflight requires most of your speed to be fired off for the first 50% of the trip. the next 50% means flipping the ship backwards and firing off the engine just to slow down again, and if you've timed it right by the time you hit your destination your relative velocity to location X is now 0
