Mozart completed this piano concerto in 1784 while living in Vienna. It would be the same year Mozart would first meet the composer Joseph Haydn and also the year he would purchase “Mozart’s Starling”, a starling the composer would care for until its death in 1787. The finale movement of this concerto is said to be a variation on a melody as sung by the starling.

This concerto is comprised of three movements:
I. Allegro
II. Andante
III. Allegretto - Presto
