From sound and video footage I took a couple of years ago in the wake of Hamilton Mayor, Fred Eisenberger's lies about modifications that were done to Hamilton's taxi bylaws to allow Uber to operate it's taxi business outside of the regulations that applied to all of those without corporate muscle in the Hamilton cab business.

The vast majority of Hamilton's marginalized taxi drivers got severely screwed by the City's decision to allow it's taxi bylaws to be written and dictated by the Uber Corporation. No one on city council could pretend they didn't know how their cowardly behavior in the face of Uber's intimidation, lawfare, and media allies would harm the city's cab drivers, most of whom are immigrants. Chew on that for a few minutes.

Even so, they went ahead and did it. If you think politicians give a shit about people, think again.
