Springfield MA Officer Shoots Wild Mandingo After Being Stabbed In The Face

Springfield, MA - Springfield PD released body camera footage of an incident where a knife wielding suspect was fatally shot after stabbing an officer in the face and later charging at him with a knife in hand.
On January 09, 2022, two Springfield police officers approached a male who was the suspect of an attempted stabbing incident. During the encounter, the suspect stabbed one of the officers in the face and then fled a short distance before turning around and charging at the pursuing officers with a knife. The two officers gave the suspect verbal commands while attempting to maintain a safe distance. However, he continued to charge at the officers while holding a knife until the injured officer fired 2 shots from his service weapon, striking the suspect.
The suspect received medical treatment, but succumbed to his injures. The injured officer was transport to a local hospital where he received treatment for his non-life threatening injury.
