Brian Ghilliotti: Exploring Lithic Site Along CT I-395 South: Re-examining the perched stones

Here I take a closer look at the perched stones on top of the rocky hill along I-395 South in Connecticut. I noticed that the smaller stone, or the "sister stone", is also perched. I took an azimuth reading of the two perched stones with the smaller stone placed in alignment toward the cliff edge, and got a reading of 310 degrees. The closest alignment of significance to this reading is 302.9 degrees, which occurs on June 18th to June 22nd. This is roughly the time of the summer solstice. If you noted previous photos, you would have seen the sun setting in an area behind these stones. This happens if you stand at the smaller stone and face the split boulder perched stones.
