Track star and Olympic champion Caster Semenya will be banned from competing in the female category of the 400m and 800m running events, because her intersex characteristics and higher levels of testosterone give her a performance advantage over non-intersex biological women. It this a question of leveling the playing field? Or is the decision simply suppressing excellence?
